Lost into words

The key to a good life is not giving a fuck about more; it’s giving a fuck about less, giving a fuck about only what is true and immediate and important.

If we don’t believe there’s any hope that the future will be better than the present, that our lives will improve in some way, then we spiritually die.

Life is a pointless rat race.

The meaning of life is a struggle.

You never think much about weather when it’s good, but once it gets cold enough to see your breath, you can’t ignore it. The weather decides when you think about it, not the other way around.

Too familiar to ignore, but too different to tolerate.

I could be anything in the world but I wanted to be his.

The avoidance of suffering is a form of suffering.

You’re everywhere except here and it hurts

For real peace is not the mere absence of war. Real peace is the impossibility of war.

You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

Your now is not your forever.

Being vulnerable is asking to get used.

We get to control what our problems mean based on how we choose to think about them, the standard by which we choose to measure them.

Time doesn’t always heal wounds. Once in a while, it makes them worse.

Happiness requires struggle. It grows from problems. Joy doesn’t just sprout out of the ground like daisies and rainbows. Real, serious, lifelong fulfilment and meaning have to be earned through the choosing and managing of our struggles.

There are familiar faces on these trains, people I see every week, going to and fro. I recognize them and they probably recognize me. I don’t know whether they see me, though, for what I really am.
