In the episode covering The Carpathia carrying the survivors to New York, we discuss what options were presented to Ismay by White Star, the company that owned and operated Titanic, to get the survivors on dry land quickly so they could begin recovery from their ordeal.

One of the suggestions White Star put forward was to send Titanic's identical twin sister ship, the Olympic, to pick them up and finish the journey as planned.

Ismay is reported to have physically recoiled at this suggestion, unable to even fathom what suffering would occur through doing something so cruel to the group of 700 souls who were already mostly maddened by what Just Happened. Loading them back into the lifeboats to ferry onto a ship that Looks Exactly The Same as the one their families just died on? WHAT??

My stepmother did NOT like the way her Libertarian Viking Neighbor framed pregnancy as the fetus "attacking the woman". She incredulously told him this was extremely disrespectful to expectant mothers to portray pregnancy as so violent and negative.

Libertarian Viking Neighbor's response was that people consensually hurt each other all the time, and "there's like a whole community about that, with the acronym the one that starts with a B" And his reasoning was that if the mother was consenting to bring attacked by the baby, it in fact wasn't violent and negative because there was consent.

Hokay so hoomans, even among placental mammals, are reproductive edge cases. The menstral cycle is something only 5 spiecies does, the rest have an enviromental trigger for mating season or the proto clit tissue is still lodged in the vaginal wall for a physical ovulation trigger.

In the animals that have menstral cycles, the following is also true;

The clit has gone on walkabout and is no longer located along vaginal walls. The fact that the human clit can be up to several inches away from the vaginal opening is one that reflects our ancestors getting down for funsies and not procreation. Regular coupling meant no mating season or physical trigger needed, and adaptability meant getting pregnant in the run up to winter wasn't a death sentance. The further the clit is from being inside the vaginal canal, the longer we can assume an animal has been getting down for affection and pleasure, not procreation... which also means that species also has the faculties to decide for themselves when to conceive.

The animals with which we share the menstral cycle are all animals where the clit left the inside of the body and became an exterior structure.

We also share something else- deep enmeshment during pregnancy.

Placental mammals form a placenta, a temporary organ that mitigates 2 bodies sending different hormonal signals. In the mammals with which we share a menstral cycle, we also share a placenta that partially forms *before* fertilization. This is why we can't just re-adsorb all the nutrients that were used to build up the uterine walls during the monthly development stage. Differentiated cells are harder to re adsorb because they must first be pulled apart from the structures made, its simply more efficent to flush it out than to break it down and suck it back up.

But why form a placenta before there's a fetus to feed through it?

The last thing animals with menstral cycles share are uniquely agressive fetuses that deeply enmesh into the body during development and raising the rate of death during pregnancy and childbirth by acting like a parasite that demands everything with no holds barred to leave anything for mom's body to work with. The placenta mitigates that enmeshment, which can sometimes be so severe that the uterus simply isn't whole anymore after the person has given birth.

Our young act like vicious infections within femme bodies. I wonder, oh I wonder, what pressure selected for that. Could it be forcing sentient beings into pregnancy against their will Can Very Often Kill Them?
