Hi, trans male Mental Health Professional here.
What transmeds don’t seem to understand is that in the United States, Gender Dysphoria is the diagnosis in the DSM-V needed to medically transition, but having dysphoria and being transgender are not the same thing.
On page 451 of the DSM V, Transgender is defined as “the broad spectrum of individuals who transiently or persistently identify with a gender other than their natal gender”.
Meanwhile, “Gender dysphoria refers to the distress that may(MAY) acompany the incongruence between one’s experienced or expressed gender and one’s assigned gender. Although not all( NOT ALL) individuals will experience distress as a result of such incongruence many are…”(Again, many, but NOT ALL).
On the next page, there is a set of criteria needed for the diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria for both children, and for adolescents/adults. For adolescents and adults, only 2 of the 6 criteria must be met for a diagnosis.
As you can see, you can identify as another gender, and have a strong desire to be treated as another gender, but you DO NOT need to hate your body parts. It also does not specify that you have to identify as strictly male or female, so non binary people that are dysphoric can transition if they so choose, because they meet the criteria of being transgender as well as having gender dysphoria.
In any case, dysphoria is different for everyone. Some people may think something they experience is not dysphoria, when it actually is. Some trans people may strongly identify as male or female, but not particularly care what their body looks like. For some people, dysphoria changes and becomes more or less severe at certain points of transition. Everyone is different.
Tl;dr, transmeds are saying information that is medically and socially recognized to be false, and are targeting people out of their own ignorance. You do not need to be miserable to identify as a gender that is not the one you were assigned at birth, which is what being transgender is.
It’s not a matter of agreeing or disagreeing, transmeds are wrong.

on one hand, i appreciate the posts calling out the beauty industry and destroying the idea that women should be forced to wear makeup. on the other hand, i hate how all of those posts are anti-makeup as a general matter, saying that wearing makeup is inherently antifeminist or that no one can choose to wear makeup. i agree that the beauty industry is toxic and that no one should be forced to wear makeup, but not everyone is forced!!! speaking personally as someone who loves makeup, loves wearing and doing makeup, and uses it as artistry, a way to express myself, there is nothing wrong with choosing to wear makeup. it does not make you antifemnist. if it is genuinely your choice and you like doing it, go for it!! literally no one is stopping you. if you dont like makeup no one is making you wear it, but if you like makeup and choose to wwear it, you shouldnt feel obliged to not wear it just to be ´feminist.´ it literally is your choice. makeup is for more than conforming to societal beauty standards, you can do so much more with it. it can be a form of art and expression! i wear makeup for me, not for anyone else, because i like the way i look with it and its fun to play around and experiment with. so heres to all the girls who love makeup, but who have been told by tumblr that makeup is bad or that they shouldnt wear makeup because its ´antifeminist.´ its not antifeminist, go ahead and wear makeup and play around with it all you want!! no one should be forced to wear makeup, but no one should be forced to not wear makeup either. whether you choose to or choose not to, its your choice. and another thing– makeup isnt just for women!! all genders can wear makeup!!! women, nbs, men (including trans men hell yeah!!) anyone who wants to!! one thing i hate about capitalism is how gendered everything is. ladies, gents, nb folk, feel free to dress however you like, shop for clothes in whatever section you want, wear makeup if you want (but you dont have to if you dont) like whatever colors you like, do whatever activities/hobbies you want, kiss whoever the fuck you want, and be proud because 2019 is the year of equality and acceptance for ALL genders. hell yeah rock on peeps

some people don’t necessarily hate their agab or feel totally uncomfortable with it. they may be fine with their agab, but simply feel more comfortable with a different gender or feel like they align more with a different gender than their agab. or they may be trans but be fine with their body, even if it looks like their agab, and just feel more comfortable with a different name and pronouns than the ones they were given at birth. sometimes it’s not about feeling uncomfortable in one gender, but about feeling more comfortable in another one. many trans people absolutely are dysphoric and i’m not downplaying that. but some of them aren’t, and they still are “actually trangender” and as trans as the dysphoric trans people are. i have friends who are trans and not dysphoric at all, and friends who are trans and do have dysphoria. we shouldn’t be gatekeeping who is trans or not, if someone says they’re trans, they’re probably trans, regardless of whether or not they have dysphoria.
