With an approaching full moon, Jack Crawford and Will Graham are certain that Francis Dolarhyde will strike again, but they lack a concrete lead. Desperate to catch the killer, Alana Bloom offers Hannibal Lecter a chance for redemption in exchange for his profiling insights.However, Hannibal uses this opportunity to manipulate the situation. While speaking with Dolarhyde, Hannibal directs the Dragon’s focus toward Will’s family-specifically Will's wife, Molly, and stepson, Wally-in order to manipulate Will. Dolarhyde tracks them down, resulting in a terrifying home invasion where Molly is shot but manages to escape with her life.

Captured in Italy by police on Mason Verger's payroll, Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter are delivered to Muskrat Farm to await Mason Verger's revenge. Alana Bloom, distressed that Will has been endangered along with Hannibal, plots a rescue. And Hannibal, once again in contact with his old patient Margot Verger, finds it irresistible to remind her that Mason will never make good on his promises. Meanwhile, Jack Crawford informs Chiyoh of Hannibal's location.

Michelle brings a bottle of nitroglycerin to the café for safe keeping until it is time for her to use it to blow up a German train. However, as it is in a gin bottle, Edith thinks it really is gin and gives some to Madame Fanny. René and the two German officers meet the plane bringing their uniforms but on board there is only a Jewish tailor who takes their measurements. He does, however, take the painting of "The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies" back to London to be copied.

Some of the open wounds from Season 2 are sutured while others continue to fester. As the major players converge, their curiosities regarding each other's singular nature bleed out. Ambiguity mounts concerning who is manipulating whom. Meanwhile, the subjects of Hannibal's ultimate 'tableau vivante' each fundamentally altered begin to imitate his twisted art. Jack Crawford receives a chilling condolence.

The airmen, wearing German uniforms, are captured by the Maquis but escape and burn the uniforms, taking clothes off scarecrows instead before disguising themselves as onion sellers. Von Strohm and Geering, now without uniforms, are angry with René and he is given two carrier pigeons to send to London for replacement uniforms. He uses the radio transmitter hidden under Madame Fanny's bed instead when Edith kills and cooks the pigeons.

Captain Hans finds out that putting cheese in one's ears improves the sound of madame Edith's singing.
