There's a far more eloquent way to say what I'm about to say but y'all don't see trans women as women or honestly even real people. you see trans women as patron saints of self-actualization and then get really mad when we are in fact just normal women.

white women in the us have had the right to vote for 106 years. that is such a middling number of generations back. my great-grandmother grew up during the great depression and like. i knew her. she was a person alive in my life. and she was part of the generation of my family that included the first women who grew up with the right to vote. isn't that crazy. i was born with the right to vote and so was my mom and grandma and great grandmother but not anyone else. that's as far back as it goes. 106 years. i'm always thinking about this these days i'm always thinking about how rights are much less entrenched in history than they seem . and this makes me incredibly unforgiving to passive misogyny. NOT funny DIDN'T laugh misogyny impacts every woman alive every day in one thousand ways . i hope that in fifty years or whatever someone asks me if [aspect of misogynistic culture] really used to be true because it sounds so crazy and egregious and would never happen in 207X. my point is i am getting meaner about misogyny and you should too because not only is it an extremely big deal but every feminist norm and right you've grown up with is so incredibly new.

Not to beat a dead horse but people get that the reason Shauna hated Jackie was literally because she was in love with her, right? The love and the hatred were not seperate entities, they were two sides of the same coin, which is important to recognise because it’s very much the story of Yellowjackets in its entirety. The hateful and violent as demonstrations of devotion. All of them loving and hating each other in equal measure. But it begins with Shauna. Her hatred exists because of the love exists; it’s very easy to start to "hate" someone because you love them more than anything and (you believe) they don't feel the same. Growing more and more jealous and resentful of the love they pour into other things and people. It's utterly human. It’s no wonder Shauna later becomes obsessed with holding power, because feeling unloved by the person you love most is a truly powerless position to be in. Shauna's not overly complex in this regard, she's just a teenage girl. Love is vulnerablity. Hatred is armour. Jackie could pretty much do or say whatever and Shauna would for the most part go along with it because she loved her, it’s what made Shauna feel like she lacked so much control in their relationship. And she hated it. She hated the powerlessness in it. Shauna wants to be adored, but she doesn’t even know how to separate being loved from being in control anymore, because, for her, loving someone has always meant relinquishing all control to them with no hope of reciprocation or security. Her intimidation of Melissa and the others as a way of maintaining total control is, in its own twisted way, a result of her desire for them to love her.
