But for real?
The number of restaurants I see that are stating âclosed because of lack of emoloyeesâ - isnât this what you all wanted?
Letâs ignore the whole unemployment debate for a minute even - weâve been absolutely blasting fast food workers for not getting a better job if they wanted to be paid more. What is a whole crew of fast food workers decided âfuck it, Iâm deciding to find a new job now that I have time to create resumes because of Covid.â
And now they just...wonât go back, because you argued that for having the audacity to work in fast food, they shouldnât be able to make a living wage and be able to support themselves.
You donât get to have it both ways.
Omg, THIS! This is what I've been trying to articulate since this all started. Yes!
This is what it looks like when people actually do what the fucking bootstrap assholes keep saying to do.
I'm kind of tired of this false narrative of gay rights that "if it weren't for x americans we wouldn't have the rights we have now". In reality stonewall etcetc had unfortunately no global influence. Of course It's okay to remind people that spesific black trans women were most influental part of American queer liberation but please stop acting like we all owe our rights to American activism because in each of our countries lgbt communities had their own struggles and their own champions and that should be respected by their own right.

it took me like, an hour to understand why tumblrâs logo looks Like Thatâ˘, but I think Iâve figured it out
happy World Goth Day, apparently
in a fun coincidence, I painted my nails black and dyed my hair dark blue tonight, even before I knew what day it was
for archival purposes and so that this post makes sense in the future, this is what tumblrâs logo looks like today, May 22nd of the year 2021:

[ID: Tweet by Mick @Flakes1979 showing a child in a wheelchair on a sidewalk, unable to continue because a van has parked up on the sidewalk leaving only about a 1â gap between the van and the hedge. Text reads âSociety for disabled people summed up in one picture: not even thought of. đđĄđ¨đťâđŚ˝â
Facebook comment by Jake Gibson âHave you asked [them] to move? Are they parked there for work purposes would they be blocking the road? Should they of left more space yes. Do they realize they have done it probably not. Talking to people helps resolve issues like this. Just some thoughts.â] (His terrible punctuation has been corrected in this ID so screen readers can parse it.)
Yes because a disabled child who cannot even get down the sidewalk should have to go door to door up and down a street - doors he probably cannot even reach due to the fact the sidewalk is obstructed and a lot of houses have steps leading to the front door - just to get some random person to move their van so that child can get where theyâre going without having to risk their life in the road. Something any abled person can do with no effort.
Also if you have never tried asking one of these assholes to move, 9/10 of these people will rain verbal abuse down on you and refuse to move their vehicle. Particularly in England which is known for its hate crimes against the disabled and has been cited multiple times by the UN for their subhuman treatment of their disabled population. And thatâs if a disabled adult asks them to move their vehicle. Imagine expecting a child to suffer through this.
If this person gave a single flying fuck about disabled people - something they clearly do not any more than you do Jake the Ableist - they would not have parked their damn van on the sidewalk to begin with. But god forbid we not risk the lives of disabled people to make life marginally more convenient for any random abled who wants to park their van somewhere it doesnât belong because âthey might be workingâ and âit might block the roadâ otherwise.
Anyway fuck ableds and fuck Jake Gibson particularly. I hope you get run over by a bus.
Today, I saw a new utility pole, due to be put up sometime this week when the rain stops, laying in the sidewalk, with traffic cones around it, effectively blocking the whole sidewalk. This on a super busy street with 40mph traffic (and faster) flowing through constantly. No bike lane or shoulder at all. No parkway, and the sidewalk is bordered by a thick hedge on a steep hill (very similar to the photo above). So nowhere for a wheelchair user or baby stroller to go but into the lane of traffic.Â
An able bodied walker could maybe scoot carefully between the pole and the hedge, or walk along the curb like a balance beam (with traffic zooming by - nice!), or go up the hill, past the hedges into someoneâs front lawn, but a wheelchair user would not have that option. Someone with other mobility challenges, such as a cane, walker, or someone with any balance issues would be out of luck as well.Â
Just, the carelessness of it was so incredibly frustrating! Itâs a high pedestrian use area. Why is it so hard to leave the sidewalk clear for its intended use for ALL pedestrians.
I can drink 3 cups of coffee and go straight to sleep, this is just one example of what is fundamentaly wrong with me as a person
Thatâs a possible sign of ADHD, my dudes. :P One of the prevailing theories explaining ADHD is that itâs caused by a lack of certain neurotransmitters, specifically norepinephrine and serotonin. Everybody has a background level of these neurotransmitters, and when they see or do something novel or interesting, those neurotransmitters increase, and then decrease back down to normal levels. Because people with ADHD have less of these than they should, they are constantly looking for something new and interesting to give them that jolt back to normal levels. Thatâs why theyâre so easily distracted and why they hyperfocus on things that interest them. Stimulant drugs, like caffeine, cause your brain to make more of those neurotransmitters. So while neurotypical people might get a buzz off caffeine, people with ADHD just get bumped up closer to normal levels, and so, if anything, feel calmer. Thatâs why they prescribe what are basically amphetamines as treatment for ADHD and why ADHD meds are so bad for people who donât have ADHD.
WHAT
W H A T
Yup! At my job as a mental health counselor where we assess people, if we start detecting hints of what we think might be ADHD, itâs actually something my supervisor trained me to do, to just ask âSo when that sort of thing happens, do you ever drink coffee or soda to calm down?â or âDoes coffee actually help you wake up, or does it just not do anything?â because itâs such a commonly known fact about ADHD for people in the mental health field.
Yeah 5 hour energy is about the only thing that actually helps me focus but it definitely doesnât work for 5 hours
Holy shit. I always wondered why coffee was able to conk me out.
oh yeah my entire sleep schedule is reliant on a cup of coffee before bed so the whole âhyperfocus on random shit until 2amâ thing isnât able to happen.
It took me years of wondering why I was still so tired after 5 coffees before I realised it was actually the coffee.
Now I sometimes drink coffee to help me sleep.

Successful trans men
I wish I knew about men like these growing up, I wish I knew that trans men could be successful after a lifetime of never seeing anyone âlike meâ excelling in life. So here are some trans men - some that you may have heard of, some that you may not - that are successful in a range of careers. Never let being trans hold you back, never think you canât do something, never think there is not a place for you.
Ben Barres American neurobiologist for Stanford University and advocate for women in science. Barreâs research on the interactions between glial cells and neurons changed the way that we understand the brain and opened up a whole new field of research.
Stephen Whittle Professor of equalities law. Founder of FTM Network in 1989 and Press for Change in 1992. Whittle has been heavily involved in trans activism since joining the Self Help Association for Transsexuals in 1979. His research and activism has been instrumental in ensuring the rights of trans people in the UK.
Michael D Cohen Actor, teacher and coach. Making his break in award-winning Nickelodeon sitcoms Harvey Danger and Danger Force he was the first series regular actor to publicly come out as transgender. Cohen has a BSc in cell biology and a masters degree in adult education, teaching at his own acting studio and providing workshops.
Chris Mosier American triathlete and award-winning coach. Six time member of Team USA in both duathlon and triathlon, Mosier also won two national championships in racewalking and was the first transgender athlete to qualify for the Olympic trials to compete against other members of his gender.
Yance Ford African-American film producer and director. Ford received an Emmy for Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking and was nominated for an Oscar for his part in producing and directing the documentary Strong Island which follows the death of his brother.
Kael McKenzie Canadian judge. Serving in the Canadian Armed Forces for several years, McKenzie later attended law school and and worked as a lawyer before being appointed as a judge to the Provincial Court of Manitoba in 2015.Â
Shane Ortega Native American former flight engineer in the US army, former marine and professional bodybuilder. Throughout his career Ortega has served in Iraq and Afghanistan in over 400 combat missions. He has a long history of advocating for the repeal of Donât Ask Donât Tell and the recent banning on transgender service members in the US army.Â
Drago Renteria Chicano photojournalist and deaf and LGBT activist. Renteria founded the Deaf Queer Resource and is CEO of DeafVision - a webhosting and development company run by deaf people and the founder of the National Deaf LGBTQ Archives. Renteria has been instrumental in both creating and hosting many online deaf/queer spaces online along with being heavily involved in real-world activism for decades.
Phillipe Cunningham Elected city councillor for ward 4 Minneapolis and previous special education teacher, Cunningham holds a masters degrees in Organizational Leadership & Civic Engagement and in Police Administration and is passionate about tacking inequalities in his community.Â
The vast majority of these men did not get puberty blockers early. I think thatâs important for trans youth to know⌠that stupid legislation canât stop them from being trans and transitioning well, even if the hoops are worse and take longer. (I think trans youth should be able to transition when and how they need to, but in the face of current transphobic legislation, you need to understand that even if they manage to delay you, they canât stop you.)
Yeah Ive looked up Ben Barres and he was born in 1954 and began his transition in 1997. so he was *does math* 43 YEARS OLD, and passed so well people thought his pre-transition self was his SISTER who was in the SAME FIELD AS HIM and he SUDDENLY APPEARED ON THE SCENE AFTER SHE DISAPPEARED
