I fucking hate it here
For those of you with android devices, you can use the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) standalone app control program to get rid of all the bloatware, data mining, and AI crap - no coding needed!
save
There are also Android-based alternatives like GrapheneOS and LineageOS, which are pretty easy to install. These are unfortunately available for a more limited range of devices (Graphene is ironically Pixel only, while Lineage supports more), but it's very worth checking out whether one of them might work for your phone.
GrapheneOS is a security and privacy focused mobile OS with Android app compatibility.
LineageOS Android Distribution
Typing this from Graphene now, in fact. But, both of those take the Android Open Source Project, without all the bloatware--and largely de-Google the whole thing. They give you much more control over privacy and what the apps you choose to install can do and access on your phone.
I know Graphene sandboxes everything, including the optionally installed Google Play Services which a lot of apps unfortunately require to run. (Lineage uses an alternative to Play Services instead.) So, you can install what would normally be unacceptably intrusive apps and just lock them away from pulling any funny shit with your data, or phoning home. Including the couple of Google things I do still keep around.
I also prefer running much more transparent, privacy-respecting open source apps where possible. Besides the transparency, I'd rather avoid the shitty tech corps entirely where I can. There are pretty good alternatives available for a lot of the usual suspects.
AlternativeTo lets you find apps and software for Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, Android Tablets, Web Apps, Online, Windows Tab
An alternative app store:
F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy
Also just going to leave this here.
Continuing the legacy of Vanced.
💊 Application to use ReVanced on Android . Contribute to ReVanced/revanced-manager development by creating an account on GitHub.
This lets you pretty easily patch some of the worst offender corporate apps to make them behave better.
Sometimes it feels like I’ve forgot how to draw…. Ughh

Egon Schiele, Seated Woman With Bent Knees, 1917
Hey so that’s ai art and here’s the ACTUAL “Seated Woman With Bent Knees” (1917) by Egon Scheile, made with gouache, watercolor, and black crayon. His wife modeled for the piece btw.

Never ask a woman her age unless they are dating a film director whose work you admire, in which case you should be aware of some timelines

Where’s that one post where a person is third wheeling a couple but says it’s good because ‘intimacy has become abstract’ to them
4 beers in at medieval times and your boy starts to get a little nonbinary with it wyd

Jay's inclusion in The Dirties is such a needlessly direct line into Matt Johnson's id lmao. First of all, it's a narrative cul-de-sac; like we don't need this scene; it doesn't do any work to establish any characterization, any detail. It's a complete aside for the sake of an aside. And we only see him once, in one scene, for like 30 seconds, but those 30 seconds are the only time the voyeurism of the camera is lingering, almost static. Like, everybody in The Dirties gets cast in this cold, harsh, institutional light, even when they're outside:
It's late spring/early winter; the streets are permanently damp, smeared in salt and mud, and even the sunlight is dirty, meagre -- early mornings and late twilight, filtered through skinny trees, slit classroom windows, the gaps in the security door.
Even Owen and Chrissy's budding friendship (the thing that morally saves Owen) is conducted in backlight, shown from Matt's point of view in long lens, cut by intense and unflattering shadows.
Warmth is a precious commodity and the only place we see with any to spare is Matt's cave of a basement, where sunlight literally doesn't reach, lit by a sterile fluorescence and modulated only by Matt and Owen's familiarity with the space.
But then we get to Jay's classroom and it's lit like the shadows can't touch him. His classroom is airy, spacious, the opposite of low ceilinged basements or claustrophobic hallways. It's also private and intimate, and Jay is warm, supportive and kind. It's the only time we see any kind of kindness being extended to the boys by an adult, and crucially it's the only time the camera rejects one of the boys as its subject--even though Owen is right there! -- and forefronts a third party.
Not because the narrative loves him, but bc Matt Johnson does.
the goal is get so secure and confident that i’m 7th grade weird again
