My latest video is a special for Pride Month: a discussion of the book Gothic Queer Culture: Marginalized Communities and the Ghosts of Insidious Trauma by Lauren Westengard. This book is more about Gothic literature and general Gothicism in narrative media over music, but I think it is still relevant to the subculture.
If any of you are interested in purchasing this book or following the author on social media, there are links to do so in the video description.
I know people who are into my "intellectual" pursuits tend to follow this side-blog, so here I am being all academic on my YouTube channel.
Kat Blaque on why kids can't seen to read anymore.
The "too long, didn't watch" is that "whole language learning" is just not as good a method to teach learning as phonics. I'm so glad I was personally taught phonics to read over the whole language model, bu I worry for those who weren't. Also, as long as public schools are being made to be "AI-focused," I think I'm definitely sending my future kids to Waldorf school or something.
Lady of the Library gives her opinions as a Classics PhD about discourse surrounding Christopher Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey and specifically Emily Wilson's adaptation that Nolan is said to have been inspired by.
Lady of the Library on the controversy of an archaeology academic and a neopagan influencer he accused of being a neo-Nazi. In the end, no one was in the right.

I'm participating in the read-50-books-in-2026 challenge through the Long Beach Public Library and I thought it could be fun to make an Instagram page discussing all of these books. You can follow it if you want to check out some of these books I've been reading.

Follow the Instagram where I talk about books I've read this year. I read fiction, nonfiction, prose, graphic novels, modern, classic, horror, science fiction, romance...
It is the 28th of March 2026.

Maybe I'll take the advice of people saying I should take all of my big, overly long thoughts about class, religion, art, and subcultures and put them into a podcast. The world might already have too many podcasts, though.
China has enacted a new law requiring influencers to possess degrees or certifications for discussing serious topics like finance, health, a
A law has been passed in China declaring that social media influencers are not allowed to speak on topics that they do not have a degree in. This is supposedly to stop the spread of pseudoscience and general misinformation. Naturally, there is some controversy around the nuances of this law, but I always support putting a cap on the modern day snake oil salesmen that make up a lot of influencers.

I'm going to do something new and my next thinkpiece is going to be a sequel to an older one. It's been stewing in my head for a while, but hopefully I can have it finished at some point this week.
Going to refer to all of the people who follow Nick Fuentes's lore but don't share his ideologies as "Nickstorians." Yes, it is a sort of reference to "Christorian" (the people into Chris-Chan lore), which I know was deeply problematic, but I always appreciate a clever play on words.
Love this. I've been wanting to find a name for this community of people who follow Nick but don't share his same politics. I was experimenting with the name "Fuentes Watchers" but I was unsure of it. I like Nickstorians though, very classic sounding. π
On December 6th, 2024, the Nickstorian community was officially born.
This is like watching the Mona Lisa be painted...
LOL, yep, this was me who came up with this term. It has been interesting seeing it pop up in GQ and on Alex Jones, which may have led me to log off social media for weeks and question my life decisions.
I can't say I'm too thrilled about seeing actual fans pop up here, in numbers I would not have predicted a year ago, and use the term. I feel that I created a monster and I don't know what to do about it.

In case this gets taken down, I do have it downloaded and saved to multiple drives.
I'm semi-considering deleting this side-blog. All of my original work is over on my Spacehey account, the superior platform, anyways.

The Kavernacle on the obsession American conservatives have with England (or at least their image of it)
The Kavernacle on why fascists in the US have taken to converting to or generally embracing Catholicism in ways not seen in, say, Europe in the modern era - especially his native UK where Catholicism is associated more with migrant communities, like his Irish grandparents - and how it has to do more with vibes and random historical events over actual theology.
