god does not exist as an actual supernatural, all-knowing deity. it's merely the man-made personification of what we have collectively decided is the ideal for our human race, what we strive to be, the moral compass we expect one another to go by. after all, one of the teachings of god is to strive to be more like god itself, meaning we should strive to be our best selves. it's like there was a gap in communication at some point between generations and everyone stopped understanding the desired human traits and moral aspirations as ideals to strive for and began thinking of them as an omnipotent super saiyan entity eager to discipline all his little children until they fell in line.

it's almost like there was a calculated cultural move to transform the un-manned expected morality to a personified deity. when we think of how kings and emperors maintained their wealth and power, it is because they claim to be a god - or chosen by one - thus putting them above everyone else, increasing their wealth and position of power. that the idea of a god itself would solidify their power and keep all others beneath their feet.

the compass of morality was broken and melted down so it could become the same golden idol that religions warn against.

These people are Christofascists. These are smug technical loopholes they invented to give sympathetic judges cover for letting them take over the public sphere for the benefit of their racist churches.

This isn't about liberty or a grassroots effort by concerned mothers. The law says you can't give taxpayer money to the Southern Baptist Convention to run national morality police; so they have to worm around and find ways to quietly do that anyway. Because they are GOING to do that.

You are only allowed to "make the best decisions for your own family" if those happen to align with what the church demands, meaning you belong to it, which means you are one of the Elect and better than everyone else and God needs you ruling everyone else in His name.

The only reason they still bother hiding it is because the stupid 20th century legally defined a lot of the Constitution in terms of progressive egalitarianism. And until the current Supreme Court angrily cancels all of that, they have to pretend they're not trying to build a theocracy or risk occasional failures.

They absolutely do not think you and your wife should get to let your kid read gay books and get vaccines. Those are evil and you are clearly evil and all of that will be illegal soon. They don't believe in freedom, democracy, egalitarianism, or consequences. And they will openly stop pretending they do the moment John Roberts says they can.

Texas is forcing public school children to do Bible study. This is the State that has screamed for years about how government needs to stay out of education. Because all they ever meant was "any liberal government." They didn't mean themselves, stupid. They never meant themselves.

The Religious Right has been lying about everything they intend to do since they started this whole thing merely as a stealth way for Southern seminaries to get to still be racist forever. The movement was invented by theocrats, specifically to trick white people into letting them seize power and destroy "God's enemies." It was never actually about a second thing. They care about abortion only because women shouldn't have any rights in the first place. That issue was always a convenient tip of the spear. They didn't even give a shit about it until they realized they could use it, and fundamentally they DON'T give a shit about it. Because when these people have affairs or impregnate minors, they don't seem to have any moral qualms about "dealing with it medically," when THE GUY needs that to happen.

Three generations now of dopey white social conservatives getting tricked into reestablishing an Early Modern philosophy of government, where the church is the state, total submission is the one civic virtue, and God is king (through his highly-paid ministers) for all eternity.

Our Constitution was written in spite of, and to spite, these specific people. Because the Founding generation lived under that system and were sick of it. But this new secular thing with voting was always just an experiment. The forces of "God said give me all your money and women or I kill you" are ever-present and were almost inevitably going to roar back. A lot of this seems to be innate human tendency, unfortunately.

This also may be why Christians in America always have a persecution complex? At least their leaders are very aware that if their goal is total power, lots of other people are going to oppose that, probably with an equal force of cruelty and violence. So you have to get the troops ready for the confrontation. Tell them everyone hates them all the time and wants to kill them for being too holy and good, just like Jesus. So they will get terrified, and make movies about guys who smoke pot and swear arresting their families and cutting their kids' heads off.

Which seems nonsensical...up until the point where, wouldn't you know it, now the President agrees with rich pastors that he needs to violently depopulate the country. That hundreds of thousands of people are subhuman trash, who cares what you do to them, and if anyone yells about this, fucking shoot them. Also everyone gets smallpox now because vaccines are only for rich people.

What a shock that faced with that, some people go, "Hey wait a minute, these people are going to kill us if we don't stop them!" Which confirms exactly what they've been telling everyone for decades: they all hate us because we are God's chosen people, and they're all hateful and evil and violent. We warned you! See, we DO have to destroy them all first! It is survival!

They closed the loop. And they also made sure their side has all the guns and can openly carry them in public. So guess who wins? Victory in Jesus!

Monsters eat you. That's what they live to do. If you got tricked into inviting them into your house, they'll just kill you there.
