"Female socialization" and "sex based oppression" are just a cover for privileged women to act like they are in the same situation as women in places like Afghanistan, despite their race, wealth, ethnicity and the laws of their state.
"FGM is happening to females!"
You are a female so did it happen to you? No, it is actually banned in your country and you share zero of the violence those girls who actually suffered.
Did you actually get socialized like that? No, you were never forced to cover your head. Your family supported your education.
Many of the sex based events and oppression you describe change through time, place, race, culture, laws, wealth... and other socioeconomic metrics.
Typical man who is unaware that fgm and being forced to wear hijab happens here in the u.s.
men LOVE telling women that they should just be grateful that they aren't treated even worse. "just be glad that i let you vote! just be glad i didn't punch you too!"
like fucking stop pretending it's a PRIVILEGE that a handful of women in the west aren't treated like absolute dogs in their day-to-day lives, or that at least some of their very basic human rights are respected to an extent. stop fucking pretending that we don't have anything in common with mistreated women. and stop fucking pretending that you even know what's actually happening in our lives.
if an individual woman has not experienced female genital mutilation in her life, she still knows it happens to other women and girls solely because of their sex. it is a mere COINCIDENCE that it's not her. and as long as such practices exist somewhere else, she is not free. she is more than entitled to talk about it, to scream about it as long as she thinks is necessary.
you do not fucking get to silence her.
You know what's funny? He knows he's wrong. They all know they're full of shit. They know. Always have, always will. Can't expect a man calling himself an adult human female to own the terves on a blog with "yuri" on the username to be reasonable, though. This is a men's rights movement indeed. "Western women don't need feminism because they're not oppressed like the women in Afghanistan!" is the type of bullshit I grew up hearing conservative males spew. The sentiment here is the same even if the wording is different. I've seen your posts about transmascs and NBs. Haha, I wonder what that was about!
"Did you actually get socialized like that? No, you were never forced to cover your head. Your family supported your education."
Does that change your reality in any way? Does that make us alike, though?
How exhausting it must be to constantly try to come up with excuses to validate what you know in your bones is a lie. You know women and girls are socialized differently, but that truth is too painful for you to accept because it further highlights all the ways in which you are different from us, so you spend your time being obnoxious online. You'd rather build an argument around a lie to protect your feelings than reckon with the truth. I'd feel sorry for you, but seeing how your entire movement is more than happy to silence women, the only thing I can spare you is contempt.
I'm very fortunate that my mother supported my education, but this only happened because she was denied one herself. And so was her mother, and her grandmother, and her great-grandmother, and so on and on and on. Underage girls are still being forced into marrying strangers. I'm exactly one generation removed from having to go through that myself. Marital rape wasn't recognized as a crime until fairly recently. Yet even with all that privilege I was still made to endure things boys my age weren't. I still move in this world with a caution no male will ever truly understand. I still experience things you can't possibly fathom. All women do. And you know this, or else you wouldn't be here trying throwing a tantrum about how you are indeed just like us, when we all know you're not.
I'm far past the point of politely asking men like this one to please understand that they don't have to erase our experiences and silence our voices in order to live life however they want to, we can all co-exist as long as you give up the delusion that there's no difference between us and respect our spaces. I don't know that I want to reason with entitled men such as this one anymore, or any man for that matter.
"Many of the sex based events and oppression you describe change through time, place, race, culture, laws, wealth... and other socioeconomic metrics."
And yet misogyny prevails. Rich white women living in developed countries still face misogyny. They faced misogyny a thousand years ago. They face misogyny even when the law criminalizes it. Having privilege in one axis doesn't mean you don't face any misogyny. Hell, Taylor fucking Swift was groped by a DJ, had Kanye West show a wax figure of her naked body in a music video, had hundreds of pornographic AI-made deepfakes of her spread online, and she's as privileged as it comes -- billionaire, white, blonde, blue eyed, american, famous.
Women across the world have so, so much in common. Talking to women from different backgrounds, from different continents, from different races has made me realize we have a lot in common. Coming together and discussing just how alike we truly are poses a risk to men, though, because we're much stronger united and organized. Men know this, because of course they do.
Women are all keenly aware that we're one tragedy away from being stripped of our rights. Every time a natural disaster happens, men rush to abuse women and use the chaos as a cover up. Soldiers rape civilian women during times of war.
This is probably the harshest post I've made thus far. I've been perfectly polite for a long time, but after getting almost two hundred death and rape threats in the last week alone I don't think kindness will accomplish much.
I can't imagine being a woman who grows up to actually want to have children. What a weird desire to have
Queer theory is so funny to me as African because I'll see all these people in the western countries trying to assign meanings to clothes and to pronouns and to parts of their personalities, they'll believe that changing their clothes or their pronouns or their language or their behavior will exempt them from misogyny. And while I understand that it is a condition of the System to keep us all separated, I can't help but bristle at the racism behind this all.
If any of these liberals had bothered to read, they would know that there exists many many communities indigenous to Africa whose languages don't have gendered pronouns, where clothing rules are different. Where men and women dressed the same, where the rules of nudity are different. Where men are effeminate. And in most, if not all of these communities, misogyny will still be rampant.
My community used to allow female to female marriages but all those women were still circumcised. My language does not have "she" or "he" but that did not save any of us from misogyny. My friend's community doesn't even have gendered slurs and she still had to run away when she was 11 so that she wouldn't be circumcised. There is no solution other than uprooting the whole system. Creating more categories does nothing.

neways, 'Neptune' by Daughter is one of the most beautiful songs ever created
The summer before college, I tried to befriend people from my uni online, and I remember there was a group of people who really liked elliot smith, and that was the first time I ever heard of him, and I tried really hard, but I absolutely don't get the hype. And almost 20 years later, I'm trying again and I still don't get it.
It's def not that it's 'too depressing': I love sad-ish indie folk (Sufjan Stevens esp John Wayne Gacy - gave me chills the first I heard it, Ry X, Daughter). In comparison, Elliot Smith's music is so boring
i have no recent art to post but i Do have this old kirby doodle i made in class like 4 years ago
