I think it's unfortunate that the Nazis inherited an already very efficient German state, industrial and military apparatus, because it created the persistent myth that fascism itself is efficient, which, lol
What's a more efficient way to serve the public interest: actually having mechanisms to monitor state officials for corruption and hold them to account, or just letting them loot the public purse to their heart's content so long as they stay loyal to the Leader? If you're not an idiot, the answer won't surprise you!
Before the Nazis, Germany was in a leading position in the arts & sciences & considered philosophical & intellectual.
After the Nazis, well... nobody associates Germany with art film or cutting edge computer science anymore. But we're now considered the most boring, square, unattractive people in all of europe!
trump is kinda well on his way of doing the same thing to the perceived sex appeal of us americans... when i was a kid ppl used to dream of moving there.
Ovsly neither of the countries was perfect before the respective strongmen/ had already done war crimes before, but the fascism didn't help.
Yeah I shudder to imagine how US science is going to recover from this.
