nothing in the world makes me more evil than just being kind of annoyed
me when i'm in genuine agonising distress: i'm so sorry if i'm bothering you with my childish histrionics :/
me when i'm just in a bit of a bad mood: i hope hydrogen bombs fall on every living thing in the universe
I was about to make a post about like… how my family has this lemon tree out front, and one of the funniest things about having a lemon tree is occasionally I’ll be out in front doing whatever and I’ll see someone walking past and quickly grab a lemon off the tree and stuff it in their pockets as quick as they can like they’re shoplifting.
I was about to make a post about how that’s funny and how, y’know people can have our lemons, it’s not a big deal because the tree pumps them out like gangbusters, but I really can’t make that post without thinking of… them…
I’ll admit it, OP. As soon as you mentioned your family had a lemon tree in their yard I wanted to ask you how they were dealing with the whore infestation.
I did this with a fig tree once while hungover as shit and on a walk of shame. Best damn figs I ever ate in my LIFE.
when i was a teenager in san diego i was an absolutely unrepentant orange thief. climbed a fence to reach a particularly good pomegranate too. scrumping is a noble tradition of whores stretching back centuries and i won’t hear a word against it
I understood what it meant from the context, but I had to look it up cuz no fucking way is that a real word. And
It is. Scrumping.
“So if little girls experience their menstrual cycle in 5th grade or 4th grade, will that prohibit conversations from them since they are in the grade lower than sixth grade?” asked state Rep. Ashley Gantt, a Democrat who taught in public schools and noted that girls as young as 10 can begin having periods.
“It would,” McClain responded.
Unbelievable. Link to article.
The first ever suicide prevention hotline was created in 1935 bevause a man conducted a funeral for a 14 year old girl who ended her life because she got her period. She didn't know what it was and assumed it was a STD. Learning about periods and sexual health is life saving. Republicans are unapologetically just evil.
You know, here's a thing: I went to Catholic school from age 5 to age 16. (My family's not Christian, but the local public schools weren't great, so -- )
In 4th grade, girls were given a clear, scientific, extremely bland pamphlet about menstruation. It was Boring and Educational. There wasn't any class about it or anything -- just the pamphlet, provided in a plain manila envelope for you to take home.
Starting in 5th grade, the school provided a small pack of pads to girls. This was probably so that anyone who unexpectedly started her period at school would have an emergency supply, but the thing was: this boring pamphlet, this pack of pads handed to you by a nun, made menstruation...so normal. It's so normal that a nun hands you a pack of pads. It's so normal that there's a boring pamphlet. It's just a thing your body does. (It's so normal that you realize, oh, nuns have periods, huh.)
It kills me, KILLS ME, that this totally boring and bland form of education about human bodies is somehow Too Much, Too Scary, Too Sexy, for some people.
Kids who have been educated about their bodies are harder to take advantage of. It's much easier to confuse or scare or shame a child into concealing when abuse is happening if the child in question has no idea whether or not what is happening to them is "normal".
So I cannot believe that anyone who thinks kids shouldn't be educated about what their bodies are going through has the best interests of those kids in mind.
As I've said, this right wing crusade against sexual education is solely to keep children ignorant of sexuality and make them easier to take advantage of.
Why is Bluetooth called like that...
Holy fucking shit what
Of course it's a complete accident. Just like most good things in life.
IT'S A FUCKING RUNE!???
THEY'RE NOT EVEN HIDING IT. BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY IS LITERALLY MAGIC.

SHE’S THE MAN (2006) dir. Andy Fickman
this site has one setting
I’m laughing, but there’s a super useful corollary, which my husband calls “the Red Balloon.” He was a defense lawyer and had a fair number of drug addicts come through, and there is a thing where if you’re like, on your first offense, they’ll do a thing where you can go to treatment and if you complete it they’ll take the conviction off your record. And he would tell his clients, “Look, everyone’s going to tell you not to do drugs. They’re going to say it over and over again. And it’s like, if people tell you not to think of a white elephant, you’re going to think of a white elephant. But the trick to not thinking about a white elephant is to think of a red balloon. So you need to find your red balloon. For some people it’s yoga. For others it’s woodworking. For some people it’s scrapbooking or gardening or any of a long list of things to do. They focus on that, it’s a lot easier to succeed in ignoring the white elephant.” So yeah, “watch yourself” is one thing… but the better idea is to watch something else. (Even if it’s fanfic about werewolves fucking.)
It’s a form of productive dissociation, and is super, super helpful. It’s easy for me to get bogged down in how much pain I’m in… but some of the most painful periods of my life have also been the most productive, writing-wise, because writing is one of my red balloons.
There is a phrase I use A LOT in my parenting and my son gets very sick of it, but it’s true:
The thing you practise is the thing you get good at.
You may not intentionally be practicing “being grumpy” but if you don’t put effort into practicing “not being grumpy” then I’m afraid that’s what you’re doing. It’s hard! It’s really hard! Sometimes, for some things, it’s pretty much impossible and that sucks!
But being carefully aware that you are going to get good at the things you do most of is a good way to be more careful of what those things are. If that makes sense.
You gotta appreciate sometimes how tumblr works in such a way that everyone who wants to reblog this interesting or useful psychological advice is also forced to reblog the thing about werewolf fucking
What, like we mind?

Medical diversity is key.
This is so important in all fields but especially the medical profession. Being able to connect with patients and identify that they aren’t engaging with information is vital to patient care
If you have no clue about where your patient/client is coming from, you’re not helping. Go check Dr. Glaucomflecken’s pieces on rural medicine.
Seriously, medical professionals NEED to understand the communities they are providing care to; language, culture, education, etc, are all VITAL components to keep in mind, and not enough medical workers seem to get that.
Thinking back to when my gramps was in the hospital getting “some kind of cancer surgery”.
Since they had to bring him to The Big City to have it done, I was the only person anywhere close who could visit him.
I get there, he’s looking a bit lost.
I ask what exactly the surgery is.
“They said they’re putting in a bovine pericardium.” [pause} “ What’s a pericardium, anyways.”
Well, gramps, it’s like the bag around your heart. Sounds like they’re replacing it with one from a cow.
He perked RIGHT the hell up. Thumped his chest. “HEART OF BULL!!”
i spent $32 on this fucking bowl at the moma and at first i felt bad buying it bc it was so expensive but ive had a terrible day today and every time i look at my lil bowl im like :o) you know what. i can get through anything with this bowl by my side
i literally get what marie kondo was talking about now
bc everyone keeps requesting to see it filled :)
I don’t know how long I’ve been here. Time seems to pass differently. But the place is cozy and private so I have no complaints. And whenever I’m hungry, I go outside with my bowl and walk down the hill to the shore. Sometimes the lake is made of soup. Sometimes it’s huge pasta noodles the size of barges. Sometimes it’s breakfast cereal. Sometimes it’s dumplings the size of great whales. I dip my little bowl and take a portion and carry it back up to the house.
Today I found a new bowl! In its center is a little hill with a little house. I will carry it down to the shore and fill it up, and whomever lives in that little house can have a tiny portion of my meal. I hope they have a nice bowl to put it in..

cis man with gynecomastia scars: hi
the smartest transphobes in the world: kys tranny
and people wonder why I say that transphobia is a danger to everyone.
I wish I was fucking joking
but sure "we can always tell" crowd telling a cis man to kill himself because they think he's trans. that totally normal behavior. terfs are totally just normal average members of society who want what's best for everyone. they totally aren't genocidal fascists who want to kill everyone who disagrees with them or anyone they simply don't like.
@every-captain
That's the reality of intersexism! Any bodily traits that can be deemed intersex are deemed a medical condition that needs to be dealt with, rather than a natural human variation.
Sex as a binary system is entirely a social construct just as much as gender is. It's fairly normal for people born with penises to develop breast tissue, just as it's normal for people born with vulvas to grow facial hair. But if we called those things normal human variations, we'd have to change how sex and gender are seen entirely in our society. A lot of people would lose a lot of money and control.
Also take in account that the condition is by itself stigmatized and ridiculed, which means it will be hidden or get ridden of as promptly as possible. It still exists, though, and whatever genetic markers that carry it go on forward because Lamarck was not in fact right.
Of course, we could mature as a society and accept that men can also have breast growth sometimes, but asking the patriarchy to give up on even a little bit of the stranglehold it has on masculinity is way too much, isn't it
Blind people must save a lot on electricity.
They do actually!
I had a blind professor, last semester, and I swung through his office to make up an exam. It was a while before I knew he was in there because he was sitting with the lights off. I finally went in, apologized, and took the exam by the light of a nearby window (which was fine). Forty-five minutes into dead silence he panicked and yelled in this booming voiced, “WAIT, YOU CAN SEE!!!” before diving across his desk to turn on the lights. I’m sure he was embarrassed but I thought it was endearing and it highlighted a large aspect of disabled life that I hadn’t previously considered.
Sort of relatedly I once had professor who was deaf, but she had learned to read lips and speak so she could communicate easily with hearing people who didn’t know sign language. One day she had gotten off topic and was talking a little about her personal life, so that one of the students said “Oh, I know, I grew up in Brooklyn too.”
She stared at him for a long time and then said “How do you know I’m from Brooklyn?”
And he said “You have a Brooklyn accent.”
She said “I do?” and the whole class nodded, and then she burst out laughing and said “I had no idea! The school where I learned to speak was in Brooklyn. I learned by moving my mouth and tongue the way my teachers did. So I guess it makes sense that I have their accent, I just never thought about it.”
My moms a sign language interpreter, and she’s signed with people from all over the US. According to her, when she signs with people from the south they sign with a “drawl.” They have slower hand movements and exaggerate certain parts of the sign. People from the Midwest sign very fast and people from the south sign very slow.
So we were at a restaurant once and my mom started interpreting for someone who was trying to order and she was like “oh you’re from the south!”
And they were like “how did you know that?”
And she said “you sign with a drawl.” And they were really surprised that it came through that much.
It’s really interesting that even when not speaking verbally accents and heritage come through.
Humans are so fucking fascinating
Me: communication is key!😊😊✨️✨️
Also me at the first sign of confrontation: I'm sorry in sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorryI'm sorry in sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry

Tiefling players everywhere:
Evolution makes some weird choices. Keratin is the stuff fingernails are made of. Bone is. Well. It's bone.
And yet it's the keratin horns that are permanent features, and the bone antlers that are temporary.
And I get why, sort of. A keratin structure can steadily renew itself, so if it's damaged it can heal, sort of. Bone shatters, so it's ultimately not as durable. But bone is also a major resource investment for an organism! Doing that every year, instead of having some funky oversized toenails on your head, seems kinda wasteful.
But it worked, so many species just stick with it. Because evolution.
