all in all, itâs a pretty fantastic family vacation.
Despite (or maybe because of) the amazing example Polytrix sets for their children for relationships, 3/4 of their children who get married (because Miyeong never does) end up getting divorced and remarried at some point. Several of them are no fault divorces, and to be fair, none of the others are really their faults.
(warning: brief mention of domestic abuse)
Aeri: Aeri actually gets married three times throughout her life.
Aeriâs first marriage is with a former paparazzo she dates for 2 years from ages 30-32. He gets her pregnant, but he leaves her midway through her pregnancy. Eventually, he comes back, and, against her better judgement and the advice of her family, she marries him and has a tumultuous marriage. Heâs an okay father to their son, Robin, but a not great husband. Eventually, they do separate, although they donât divorce until sheâs about 42.
Aeriâs second marriage is to a Scottish clown. Yes. A clown. Sheâs 39 when they get together and 43 when theyâre married, and they end up having two daughters, Lena and Hana, over the course of 6 years, before he ends up coming clean that he thinks he might be gay, and they split amicably. The two of them remain friends afterwards.
Her third and final marriage is to a Filipino actress when sheâs in her 50s and the actress is in her 90s. Zoey is so proud of her. Theyâre together for an insane 30 years before her wife dies from exhaustion and Aeri doesnât remarry after that.
Jihae: The only child to only get married once.
Jihaeâs wife is an absolute gem of a human being. Sheâs a dorky woman from Mexico who knows literally nothing about Kpop when her and Jihae meet when sheâs 22 and Jihaeâs 19. They date in secret for 7 years before having a private ceremony with only their friends and family in attendance. They end up having 2 kids, twins Edgar and Eun-Ji.
Hani: Hoo boy. Hani gets married the most out of all of her siblings, with a whopping 4 (or 5?) marriages.
Haniâs first marriage is to her high school sweetheart, who she dates from ages 17-20. Theyâre young when they get married, but they do really love one another, and he seems like a great guy. They have a daughter when theyâre 24, Jisoo, and another at 26, Nari. Hani ends up retaining the baby weight from her second pregnancy, and he admits to her shortly afterwards that he no longer finds her attractive. She has too much self respect to take it to heart, and divorces him.
Her second marriage is to, quite scandalously, a former idol who once collaborated with her parents when they were teenagers and she was already starting to be considered a little old for the Kpop industry. The two of them started seeing each other secretly shortly after Haniâs divorce, and she made Hani feel good about her body after her ex-husband ruined that for her. They elope when Haniâs about 30, and are married for 2 years (a marriage that her parents are not at all thrilled about, but their daughter is 30, so itâs her choice). They divorce pretty amicably, and Hani stays in touch with her stepkids, one of whom is about 6 years older than her. The two of them have a brief affair afterwards that results in a son, Minjun, but breakup soon after.
Her next spouse is an old friend from high school who she used to be kinda in love with before he moved. He seems perfect and wonderful, and their marriage is a heat of the moment decision at 33 that ends two months later when he lays his hands on her once. No kids, luckily. He does need to go into hiding afterwards, though.
Hani finds her actual soulmate at 35. Sheâs beautiful, and has no history with Hani or her parents, and, in the same vein as Jihaeâs wife, completely unknown in the industry. They marry at 37 and 32. And then, a year later, they meetâŚ
Another complete unknown to world of celebrity. Theyâre in disguise at a bar and sheâs beautiful and talented and smart and they fall for her instantly. Neither of them even knew they were poly, but are obviously both okay with and they ask her out and she says yes. 3 years later, she calls them her wives and they call her their wife, although theyâre never officially married. They have three kids, Sara, Yoon-ji, and Byung-Ho.
Taeyong: Taeâs married life is far less tumultuous than his sistersâ, and a little more tragic.
Taeyongâs first wife is an Australian Kpop idol he meets while he and Miyeong Jr. are at an industry event when heâs about 25 and sheâs 23. The two of them hit it off immediately, and end up dating for 6 years before they get married. They have several daughters, Miyeon (youâll see why itâs not Miyeong), Sun, Hee-jin, Ara, and Sarang. His wife is wonderful, literally everything his parents could want for him in a partner, and she gets along with Miyeong Jr and their older sisters perfectly. The four of them even say that theyâre the closest theyâve ever seen to a couple looking at each other like their parents or grandparents did. But when theyâre 43 and 41, she gets badly sick, and within 2 years, she dies. Heâs left devastated and alone. His family supports him and their daughters as best they can through this time, but he falls into a deep depression for a while. His love for his daughters and the help of Miyeong is what pulls him out.
7 years later, he meets 2 women (about 38 and 41) at the mall. Theyâre beautiful, but he doesnât really want anything romantic. Except they keep meeting. The women are flirtatious, and he decides to give it a shot with some encouragement from his elder daughters, and eventually, he falls for them. 5 years of dating later, they marry in a private ceremony. They have one more daughter, Yuna.
Miyeong Jr: Miyeong is ultimately completely uninterested in romantic or sexual relationships. However, when sheâs 25, she decides she wants a child of her own, and, through IVF, has a daughter that she names Miyeong III, just before Taeyong has his first daughter.
one time, polytrix are out shopping, and zoey starts chewing some gum. mira goes to the bathroom while rumi and zoey continue to shop.
by the time mira gets back, zoeyâs stopped chewing, and rumi has started.
mira asks zoey if she can get some as well, but zoey explains she doesnât have anymore. âoh? you gave rumi your last stick and didnât save any for me? i see how it is,â mira says, pouting and crossing her arms dramatically.
zoey responds, âno. well, i mean, yes, but i had the last stick and then just gave it to rumi.â
it takes mira a second to process what she means. zoey wasnât chewing on gum anymore⌠mira shivers. âwait. did you give rumi the gum that was in your mouth?â
rumi nods enthusiastically. âyup!â she points at her lips. âdo you want it now? it still has some flavor left, and i donât want you to miss out on it!â
âew! no! thatâs disgusting!â mira grimaces.
her girlfriends stare at her, deadpan. âmira,â zoey starts, âmy tongue was several places on you and rumiâs bodies last night that would be considered far more unsanitary before it was in your mouth.â
âi literally drank your blood and then french kissed you,â rumi continues.
âis some chewed gum REALLY your grossness boundary?â
mira nods, blushing bright red and looking around to make sure nobody heard their conversation. âyes!â
the two other girls look at each, shrug, and say, âfair enough.â
the rest of their mall trip continues as normal.
at least, until zoey asks for her gum back and rumi decides to deliver it by spitting it into her wide open mouth, causing it to go down her throat and choke her. when mira performs the heimlich maneuver on her, itâs with an insane amount of exasperated affection and panic.
the gum falls to the floor in front of a guiltily crying rumi, and mira picks it up, throws it in the trash, and calls their car back.
âno more gum sharing,â she says on the car ride home, ânot until you two learn how to do it without being idiots.â
she says it with all the love of a grossed out but besotted lover.

Oh, heâs an absolute WRECK the first time his parents drop him off at preschool. He searched for them everywhere, thinking that maybe theyâre just playing hide and seek. He spent an hour asking the teacher about where they are and if theyâre coming back soon. The teacher kept telling him ânot yetâ, until he finally realized they werenât going to be coming back for him any time soon, and spent the rest of the day crying so much he needed to drink a bunch of water so he wouldnât get dehydrated, which led to him having an accident, which made him even more upset.
He genuinely thought his parents might never come to get him, which is why when they did show up to pick him up, he was so excited that, combined with the exhaustion of the stress and crying all day, he threw up.
His parents were obviously terrified by their son suddenly throwing up in front of them, especially considering his face was covered in mucus and tears and his eyes were all puffy, and his goggles were askew, and he was wearing different clothes, so they asked what happened, and the teacher told them that they maybe should consider shorter periods of him being away from them before doing anymore full days at preschool.
