I feel vulnerable as shit posting this art. Been hesitant for months. Intimacy is something I've continually repressed within myself, especially being queer. I got the idea that intimacy was for straight people. I'd be as fascinated as I was afraid of barechested boys in middle school locker rooms. • "Intimacy" can still taste sour. I've had to self-rebuild it with a black hole of guilt and shame still living in my weighted gut. • It pulls me out of the present and prevents me from connecting with people who want to share pieces of themselves with me; I mean this in every way possible: physical, spiritual, mental, interpersonal, etc. • Learning to be intimate with myself via selfcare is extremely frustrating, uncomfortable, and rewarding. Quarantine unveiled all my ghosts. I acknowledge them. Still learning to. My gut, my heart, and my art are all freshly renewed because of it. • Cheers to this new era of mine, freely roaming my bodily landscapes, not holding myself hostage. This body is an ancestral gift passed down since the beginning of human evolution/transformation. We all deserve to feel at home inside our own skin. Welcome home, Héctor. 🗣THE RIGHT TO BREATHE & SELF-CARE IS REVOLUTION.🗣 been noticing my angle-dependent facial androgyny hints and feeding it some self-love & appreciation 😁💕 sometimes i struggle with accepting the person in the mirror is me. this is how i look. this is how i talk. "you need to eat, Héctor. you need to sleep, Héctor". • Quarantine has made me truly face myself and unearth all the self-loathing i didn't consciously acknowledge. something about my face never felt like it was me. Like i was this formless being or very old man or very young child. • But I'm okay, delighted even, with this host/interface of a body that allows me to interact with the universe and eat, talk, sing, dance, make art, breathe, etc. not everyone has the privilege of a body. • And holy shit talk about bodywork. Been doing yoga, jogging, breathwork, imperfect veganism, meditation, massaging, stretching, etc etc. Shit is painful work but LORD is my everyday life 1000× better because of it. Ive never gotten too much into stocks but imagine it feels a lot like being a fulltime artist. the word investment. looks like two sides of a mirror that can't recognize itself. the "i" becomes "t" at the end across "t" in the middle. he feels like "t"s both are mirrors. the two "n"s at opposite ends agree with each other's face but the "e"s between them feel a bit off. "v", "s", and "m" have no reflection. Sometimes i feel like V until I stare veraciously into a violet mirror and find a violent god fragmented all over my virile body like viscerally broken glass. Other times S slithers up my spine and tells myself my reflection is silent. M mumbles muted muses under his virilously violet skin. Most of the time I am M. And thank that violent god, i guess. Archipelagos of affection at the end of phone calls crumbling as they graze against my tongue in muted defeat. Recollection of fragmented grief. Heart strained, not broken Caught in your storm I became the eye And you saw me whole I witnessed your broken And the shattered glass Got caught in my throat. Crumbled into my heart And left dissolving kisses. We lie awakened in a field Of novel landscapes, liminal in their rooted mycelia, expanding into a portrait of our sacred. Our limbs intertwined as branches. Intersmiling warmth into our cores. Differently, this time. In an alternate timeline where the sun could meet the moon without either of them healing from their history of crater-wounds because there were no comets to scar us with widening arteries, blood searching for a heartbeat. Every expectation dying inside my heart. Rewinding their flesh, newborn, still. born. Memories flashing in my cinema-cranium: ["i need to keep you fed." ears carressed. body memory. soft faces hugging at their zeniths. breathing into each other. diaphragms oscillating into one another. vased crimson carnation bent at the neck. ghost of a black cat observing my bathroom mirror-stares. bawling at your hand on my blackhole gut. "my b..." is TV static becoming an ocean of cicadas.] returning to new hollowness, unfilling into a corpse forgiving its stagnance. I've so much left to grieve. Chrysanthemums and carnations can transmute from sympathy and affection into innocence and Virgin Mary's tears. Body is archival cradles each document with softening hands. pleads forlorn forgiveness in serpent tongues. licks the salt of your sweat and stares intently in the tunnels  of your corneas, silten with saline. RETURN. mantra of lightness of being. I was young the first time i dissociated. visual proces sing: a broken elegy.  the strings from my eyes snapped as twigs would when strained by the weight of their absent breath. I held mine still under my tongue, inhale-less into the present. split my psyche in half, learning to face my reflective portraiture. wallhung up intently by the palms of a praying goddess. earthskin tones of intersimulated spellwork simulacrum  prickling my Ego. bending its tendons to toughen. for trauma wounds itself to stay alive. cuts in order to stay breathing. severs nervous system signals. prepares for impact.  if i am then i am Nothing. I return to my neglected wounds with a broken smile. Nostalgia seeping through my pores as rivulets beckon me homeward. Remember the bloodclots left here by your fear. they miss you. dearly.
