WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS MY FAVORITE TELEVISION SERIES OF ALL TIME (it's not out yet)
Ask Game
Thanks for tagging @waywardted! ā¤ļø
What's your blog title from?
Runaway Muse was the name of my Star Trek: Voyager fanfic website aaaaages ago. So I guess you can call it an attempt at branding? Maybe? The website is long gone, but the tumblr remains.
2. What movie have you watched most recently? What did you think of it?
The other day I watched Prince of Tides again, because I love to torture myself and Barbra Streisand in a skirt and heels is my weakness. I love that movie so much. The score is amazing and there are so many beautiful shots.
3. what are you looking forward to right now?
Summer break in a few weeks and a trip to Canada with a few amazing ladies.
4. if you could do anything at all today, what would it be?
First of all, I'd love to sleep some more. Then I'd like to sit in a nice cafe somewhere and write. Sadly, though, there's a day of herding feral kids (can't call it teaching at this point in the school year), and grading ahead of me.
5. What's your drink of choice? (Coffee/tea order, alcohol of choice, pop, etc)
I cannot human unless I have my coffee in the morning (black, like Captain Janeway). I rarely drink sodas, but when I do it's mostly diet coke. And lately I've had a craving for homemade iced tea. As for alcohol, I love a gin and tonic or a glass of wine (mainly red, but I like white or rose, too). As a German, I also love a nice, cold beer, of course.
6. What's your hair routine like? Anything special?
I brush it (if I can be bothered). That's it. My hair is super strait and not terribly thick, so any attempts at styling I make are rather pointless and don't last long, so I just twist it up to have it out of the way.
7. what's your favourite way to travel? Is there a mode of travel you haven't done that you want to experience?
Trains are great (if they're not too crowded and arrive more or less on time). You get to see where you're going, and it almost always gets me in the mood to write. Back when I still had my student ticket, I used to hop on a train and go somewhere and back just to write.
8. favourite month of the year and why?
May, I think. Everything is green, it's getting warmer, but it's not yet too hot.
9. favourite time of day and why?
I used to love late nights, because that was the time my brain truly woke up and I could write without the distractions of people around me. However, as I have to get up at the crack of dawn now, I no longer have the luxury of staying up late.
10. do you play or follow any sports? & elaborate on that?
I used to do horseback riding (not competitively, though), and I like to swim. Other than that, I'm not a very athletic person. Like, not at all. I still like to watch dressage competitions occasionally, and I love to watch football. Sadly, the having to get up early and living in the wrong timezone issue is not very helpful there.
11. what kind of music is stuck in your head a lot lately?
My brain doesn't really do that unless it's something very, very annoying.
12. dishes or laundry?
Is neither an option? I HATE housework. In winter, I'd say laundry, cause I can just stuff it into the dryer, but I can't justify using it when it's warm enough to line-dry, and hanging laundry suuuuuuucks!
13. what's something you learned recently?
A lot, probably, but I cannot think of a single thing right now.
14. if you could give a TED talk on anything, what would you talk about?
I would talk about why the collective nightmare of Major Crime's last season was complete and utter bullshit and how it undermined the show's legacy of being supposedly feminist and why its creator needs to be visited by the ghosts of all those disappointed Major Crimes fans for eternity.
15. What's a piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot?
Think before you speak, maybe?
16. what's a piece of advice you would give to yourself five years ago?
Not sure about 5 years ago me, but young me should probably have had more self-confidence and taken the time to figure out who she is.
17. do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any lucky rules?
I don't. Doesn't mean that I'll risk jinxing something or that I won't knock on wood, though.
18. Are you musical? Play any instruments or sing? Would you ever perform for an audience?
I like to sing, but I would never torture people by doing it in public. At some point I tried to teach myself how to play the guitar, but since I wasn't immediately perfect at it, I gave up. (story of my life)
19. Write, type, or speak?
Type. I like to think about stuff properly.
20. what do you wish someone would ask you?
āCan I give you 100,000 American dollars, no strings attached?ā I'll shamelessly steal this from @waywardted, cause it's the perfect answer.

Real and growing possibility of him dying live on tv and nobody in the room noticing for minutes on end.
Likes charge, reblogs cast.
everytime u go outside ur spending $60 automatically its crazy $60 is the new $20
Stop buying food and coffee and make it at home. I'm begging everyone.
ok well i filled up my car with gas and got cat food for my cats so idk how this applies to me also the ādonāt buy coffee anymoreā thing is rlly annoying from ppl acting like buying coffee is the reason ppl r struggling to keep purchases under 20 dollars instead of capitalism inflating prices for shareholders to buy another five houses like. eventually yall gotta stop doing the āno more avacado toast!ā thing to ppl bc there is no budgeting that is enough to outrun inflation
If your rent makes more than 30% of your income, itās unlikely that you will ever be able to make any savings. If itās more than 50%, you are in some deep trouble. But yeah, that one time you bought the sandwich is the problem. Also āstop buying foodā ā like altogether? Make it at home from what? Thin air?
"Make your food at home" sounds beautifully quaint, doesn't it?
Anyone who actually does make their food at home lately will know that, unless you want to live on dry pasta, buying the necessary ingredients for that is already a fucking nightmare. I'm currently being very deliberate about my diet, which means that I exclusively prepare all my meals at home from fresh ingredients. Now, I'm lucky to have a decent income and no family, mortgage or car draining it, but the weekly shopping trip still hurts. And I do not buy a lot of fancy stuff. Mainly vegetables and dairy products.
If you mean "make your food at home" as in "grow it yourself", you're even more delusional than I thought. Sure, I'll grow all my food on my half a square foot balcony, because that's going to work. Besides, growing vegetables and fruit doesn't cost a thing, right?
The whole narrative of "young people these days just need to buy less iced lattes to afford their own home" completely ignores how just about everything has changed since boomers were able to buy their first house at 25. We've been told to get a university degree. We did that. All that got a lot of us was an ass full of student loans and some dead-end, low-paying job that may or may not be killed by AI soon. And in addition, we pay so much in rent that we have no way of saving for a house. And who's gonna give a mortgage to someone who's owing thousands in student loans and is living from one short-term contract to the next?
My own situation is better now, but it took me till I was 40 to get to a point where I no longer have to watch every penny, and where I don't stand in the veggie aisle at the supermarket, wondering if I can afford a zucchini or not. But I still cannot afford to buy a house, and I probably never will.
So shut the fuck up with your stupid boomer lines. The fucking world is ending because the generations before us lived like there was no tomorrow. If we want to eat a damn avocado toast or get a fancy latte to go, we will. There's not a lot else you left for us to look forward to.

The Ikea biphobia couch is the funniest thing that's ever happened. We found it gang. Nothing will ever top it in terms of being funny.
The what???
The Ikea biphobia couch.
???
I don't know what to tell you man.
easy to miss that one of the reasons maternal mortality is diminished so extremely by modern medicine is that modern medicine makes it so much more possible to identify the pregnancies that will die and take you with them, or are otherwise unacceptably high risk. and then discontinue those ones safely, before it's too late.
thought about this because it's so frustrating when people argue that 'dying in childbirth' is a historical sort of event that doesn't happen nowadays (false) and therefore is irrelevant to the legal status of abortion, since it's not a real danger.
except it super is, and i think a lot of people haven't noticed that this argument in addition to simply being incorrect is basically the same as when people say we don't need vaccines for deadly diseases because no one gets those now anyway.
like yeah one reason for that is we vaccinate everybody ffs.
white europeans love to pretend like the united states and europe arenāt two cheeks of the same ass
Listen, nobody who's ever opened a history book says we didn't do that shit first. Pick an atrocity and chances are there was a time europeans did it on mass to someone for the sake of profit. The difference, is that we have for the most part put that behind us, while the US is just sinking deeper and deeper into it. We're not perfect, and we were a lot worse in the past. But it has been a while since we were the problem
so the racism, antiblackness, islamophobia, and hatred for immigrants just disappeared huh
"its been a while since we were the problem" someone Black was murdered by police violence in Ireland last month
You think we are better? Look at the fucking countries that refused to accept Syrian orphans because they were too Muslim or too brown. Look at the way people talk of the Ukrainian refugees. Look at the uproar over a black man in a supermarket leaflet because āwe donāt have those people here and youāre forcing them at us.ā Look at the fucking rampant transphobia in Britain, raging homophobia in Hungary and Poland, rising numbers of Nazi-adjacent populist parties in Germany or Italy, the hatred for women in power, the anonymous letters wishing rape on female journalists or politicians⦠how dare you to suggest that Europe has learned, how dare you to suggested that we are any better.
The only thing better about us is that we didnāt have Reagan destroy our society and economy, so we still have well-fare programs, food regulations and affordable healthcare, and therefore youāre less likely to end up homeless after paying an extortionate amount of medical bills for that time they had to treat you for salmonella.
