The advantage TERFs have over transfeminists in organizing among women is that transmisogyny is a hegemonically backed force, which the patriarchal ruling class actively encourages all TME people to weild for their social gain. The advantage transfeminists have over TERFs in organizing is that trans women are actually women, and therefore, women's liberation is literally impossible without us. The entropy of the TERF movement we see to-day, where many of the most prominent voices are breaking bread with outright fascists, is the inevitable trajectory of any "women's" movement that rejects transfeminismβthe same as "women's" movements that reject black or third-world feminism, etc. Transmisogyny runs so rampent in women's spaces in the west because it is the path of least resistance, and our women's liberation movement of old was not strong enough to resist the hegemonic pull and keep pushing for actual liberation.
To finally achieve women's liberation will only ever be possible through a movement of all women against the infrastructure of patriarchal exploitation. Transmisogyny is a core component of patriarchy, and so any accurate assessment of and effective strategy against patriarchy from either trans women or cisfems will necessarily bring our interests into alignment. Ultimately, women in general cannot be liberated without the liberation of trans women in particular, just as trans women in particular cannot be liberated without the liberation of women in general!
