Today I learned a new autological adjective (one that describes itself): a word is proparoxytone if it has a stressed antepenultimate (third from last) syllable. Words with stress on their penultimate syllable are paroxytone, and words with stress on their final syllable are oxytone. According to their usual pronunciations, "oxytone", "paroxytone", and "proparoxytone" are all proparoxytone.
