i truly think that this recent trend of “if you relate to a post about a different identity than your own you are ~derailing~ and taking over the conversation” is incredibly harmful.
i recently experienced some pretty severe transphobic abuse in my workplace (children’s home) that included having food thrown at me, being called slurs, being told i was a pervert because i am trans. one of the managers talked with me afterwards and shared that he had had a similar experience as an Asian man. this wasn’t him derailing my experience, or talking over me, or making things about himself. he was communicating “hey, i know how it feels and how much it sucks. you’re not alone.”
THAT is what solidarity IS. i don’t know what it’s like to be Asian, he doesnt know what it’s like to be trans, but we both had a similar experience and we were able to turn a horrible experience into an opportunity for bonding and comfort.
stop looking at people’s attempts as solidarity as an attack. and hey, you never know - you could find an opportunity to grow closer to other people.
The myth that “masculinity is always privileged over femininity” has gone so far that people literally tell trans men “no one is stopping you from being a man or masculine” to trans men/mascs like transphobia doesn’t exist.
The framing of intersectional trans discourse as “marginalized men getting mad when marginalized women speaking up”, besides just not really being true, simply doesnt work because both trans men and women are intentional targets of misogyny. You cant say one has privelige over the other because theyre both fucking. Targeted by the same systems for being tied to womanhood. Their experienced dont overlap completely of course but transandrophobia and transmisogyny sit on a venn diagram with a considerable amount of overlap

Trans women don't have "male privilege" and never will, even if they were hypermasculine in the closet they are not going to internalize it the same way as a cis man. Trans men don't hold the same societal status as cis men unless they're deep stealth and never found out. Though there will always be exceptions, trans men on average have an easier time passing as cis due to testosterone's "adding" effects, and if we do so we have the ability to use it for good. Trans women have a harder time going stealth due to hypervisibility and estrogen's subtler effects, and even when they do, they still have to deal with misogyny. Radfems love to fetishize trans men as "safe men who I still think are women underneath" and show disgust towards anyone they think is too close to manhood for their liking. Trans men are repeatedly erased and categorized as butches or masculine women after their deaths, and while in recent years we have been able to begin stepping up, we have historically been swept under the rug. Trans women were historically lumped in with drag queens and crossdressers, whether they ever began their journeys as one or not - and seen again in recent years with the craze around femboys. In almost every murder or hate crime of a trans man, rape is involved due to the bodies we inhabit - assailants wanting to force us back into womanhood as violently as they can. Being sent to a men's prison is all but a death sentence for trans women - look up v coding if you're not familiar. Trans women are sexually assaulted nearly four times as often as their cisgender counterparts. Nearly everyone can clock top surgery scars. Third sexing affects all of us in different degrees and ways. Malgendering affects all of us in different degrees and ways. Both of our puberties can warp our bodies in ways we can never be rid of. Trans womens' visibility can be a blessing but also a massive, deadly curse - more public figures to look up to, more practiced surgeries, and rich historical culture, but more victims of hate crimes, mockery in pop culture, and public transphobic scrutiny than any other demographic in the LGBT community.
Trans men and womens' struggles are not going to be perfect mirrors of each other. I can't cover every way we differ and every way we overlap. And intersectionality is always, ALWAYS at play. We need to have each other's backs more than ever right now.

Tumblr is the reason why I have something I call the cashier test which is, if i told this to a random cashier at the grocery store, would they think you're crazy at best or at worst would they be warranted in leaping over the counter and beating the shit out of you. Karl Marx mpreg is crazy, but not beating the shit out of you crazy. The cashier will probably talk about you to their coworkers and it might even make their day. Telling someone they're complicit in their own oppression by working a minimum wage job at a grocery store makes them warranted in leaping over the counter to beat the shit out of you.

Abuse victims are complicit in their own abuse by not immediately leaving, regardless of their resources.
Queer people who get married are complicit in their own oppression by supporting the patriarchy.
Queer people who don't get married are complicit in their own oppression by refusing to take part in societal norms.
People of color are complicit in their own oppression by (insisting on) being visible in public.
And so on. There's no end to the claims of "YOU are making the problem by living in a world that oppresses you. It's your responsibility to not participate in it."
