Im dedicating an entire post and day just to this issue caue god DAMN i had some visceral reactions to this one

Also i love the detached narrator throughout this entire issue, it really hammers in how detached Jean has become

Tim you cant call your girlfriend and then immediately hang up on her, i like you buddy but you were a terrible boyfriend during the 90's
No Bullock, the gloves are on actually, the weird clunky, clawed gauntlet type gloves specifically
He was genuinely so charming looking during Sword of Azrael and they cut his hair and he turns into whatever the fuck this is
like seriously how do you go from this
That is such a corny line lmao
This whole interaction with Tim is actually an interesting look into Jeans psyche rn, he saw Batman fail, he failed, and he sees how Bane is winning, and internalizes that as 'I must become more like Bane to beat him."
His inferiority complex, need to prove himself, and his desire to do something to help have all culminated in the worst way, where hes willing to become another monster just to beat the monster that is Bane, no matter how people hate him for it.
Its all just really sad when you think about it, because its hard to blame him when you take into account the conditioning, how Bruce was broken, the way he was raised, the severe trauma, and the humiliation of being beat so easily earlier.
From his perspective, from his understanding, his actions are a necessary evil in order to do what needs to be done. Hes taking a 'Greater Good' type of approach where the ends justify the means, not realizing, or not caring that the means are making him near as bad as the monsters hes fighting
Another phenomenal example of the narration in Knightfall, it really shows how all of his initial concerns are valid, his ideas have merit, but they become so twisted by the mess that is his own psyche and reasoning that they change what he is fundamentally, forever.

DICK!!! Omg this hair is phenomenal on him, like i know this is him at peak angst but it suits him so good why the hell would they get rid of it, im stealing this for when i draw him
Oh so that wasnt a coincidence!! I was wondering why the hell they would make Jeans temporary suit look exactly like the one an antagonist that literally JUST appeared used.
I admit i think its a stupid reason for that, but this could all just be a case of Tim making assumptions based on what knowledge hes had, but we never saw Jeans internal monologue whilst he was in this suit, so I guess it is completely possible he got some wires crossed, especially considering how quickly he lost himself in the cowl.
If this is showing that he has a predilection to losing himself in whatever masks he dons, this could be an interesting way of showing it.
Actually the more i think of that the cooler this is, i still think it should have been hinted too more whilst Jean was using the temp suit, but the idea that Jean loses himself entirely is whatever mask he wears, Azrael, Temp Azrael, or Batman, is a really interesting choice and makes his whole descent a lot more understandable
You know, considering Dick just found out Bruce had been 'broken', Batman was given to this random dude hes never met before, and that Tim has serious concerns about said random dude, not to mention that this isduring the Nightwing Angst Era™ hes reacting suprisingly calmly, and with a surprising amount of faith in Bruces decision making
Bruce I can totally understand why you like her but youve known her for like a few months at most dude, its kind of hilarious how quickly he basically entrusts his entire body and soul to her
Two, ominous ass narration
Seriously what is with the shoulder spikes, you lift your arms above your head and those are going straight into your neck dude, also the calf and forearm spikes are giving more "spider" than "bat"
I do like the colors though, not for Batman, but they are very Nightwing-esque and i think Nightwing would look cool as hell with those pops of red
This is genuinely heartbreaking, hes so consumed in the mission, the need to be better, to slay the metaphorical dragon, hes become completely willing to lose himself in the process
Jean i promise you honey becoming Bane is not the solution here. The heart of Gotham is dark enough it does not need to get darker
Dramatic ass jumping through a billboard, genuinely no reason for all that
Oh Bullock if only you knew how wrong you were, this isnt a Batman thats woken up, this is a Batman that has lost himself completely in the dream.
I cannot take these fuckass shoulder spikes seriously

OH SO THATS WHAT THOSE ARE FOR
Oh clever! Especially in a place like Gotham where the Bats are active mostly at Night, and even during the day its pretty dark
I do love Jeans Sexy Woman™ poses in these comics
God as awful as Batman!Jean can be i have to admit hes pretty badass, this is such a metal scene
Continuing in part two because this issue was too cool for me
