So I was chatting with my friend and university fellow student, about Italian medieval villages that somehow make us think of Gondolin, and I told him about this little gem that was Castelluccio di Norcia, before a earthquake destroyed it. I think that, even if it wasn’t grandiose as Gondolin, for it is a small shepherder’s village, it gave the vibe of a miniature, and my friend agreed. We were seeing photos of before the earthquake (I am scared of them since then), and now, while some buildings are in reconstruction, the majority are mere rubble. Castelluccio is surrounded by mountains, stands on the only hill in a plateau that blooms red, blue and especially yellow (must be Glorfindel’s flower!!!!) during summer and is frozen during winter (it recently reached -26 Celsius degrees), and was ultimately destroyed by a catastrophe… I got absolutely sad, because I love that place, and it will never be like before, so I stopped talking about “medieval villages in Italy, that for us resemble Gondolin”
