With the social movement going so strong the past few weeks I’ve started to see it slow down, especially among fellow allies. As a result, I wanted to hold an art drive to help incentivize more donations!

1) Send me a screenshot proof of donation - it must be dated after June 18th 2020. This is to encourage new donations! Remember to hide your personal details.

2) After confirmation you can send any reference materials of what you would like drawn and then voila!

3) The art drive will last for 1 week, ending on June 26th 2020 (may be subject to change depending on demand)

4) I will NOT draw anything NSFW or inappropriate

If I don’t reply on tumblr message me on insta @ jessl_art !

When I heard about the death of Oluwatoyin "Toyin" Salau, I felt absolutely sick. She was only 19, looking for a place to rest when she was sexually assaulted. She spoke out and later was murdered. Her family life was abusive and ostracized her and yet she wasn't held down by it. She was a beautiful powerful voice and activist and leading change in the current social movement. The deepest condolences to those who knew her and everyone impacted 🖤🖤🖤

Even someone who is blind can see that there’s a problem with the world we live in. What all the names on these pages have in common is that they were all names that belonged to the lives of unarmed African Americans who were killed or fatally injured from police brutality (and in many cases the police officer got off with minimal charges). Statistics and numbers don’t lie and racial profiling is still a serious issue and unfortunately many of these deaths go unnoticed, however we have to put a stop to this and spread the message that BLACK LIVES MATTER. And I know that people like to change it to “All lives matter” and this is true BUT the statement “all lives matter” completely belittles and misses the entire idea that “black lives matter” is trying to encapsulate. SO please spread the message and stop racial profiling and police brutality and be the change you want to see.

I haven’t been on tumblr in a while but I wanted to revive something in light of the current social revolution we are facing. I posted this originally on May 11 2015... 5 YEARS AGO and it is still just as if not more relevant today than ever before. This just goes to show how little progress has been made not only over the past 5 years but past hundreds of years.

Remember that the case of George Floyd is NOT an isolated incident and I urge you to read and learn the stories of others. Keep learning, protesting, petitioning, donating etc. Keep this conversation going.
