Knuckles is socially stupid and constantly angry because he had to raise himself and protect his home after his tribe was killed, while shadow is socially stupid and is constantly angry because he was raised by humans who did fucked up experiments on him then put him in a space coma for 50 years.

Shadow is constantly paranoid and afraid because every adult he knew took advantage of him, while knuckles is too trusting and naive because every adult he knew who could've taught him life lessons about trusting too much DIED.

Shadow is pop-punk while knuckles is more a hip-hop (see sonic adventure 1&2 soundtrack)

Shadow is into motorcycles and guns and processed foods and all that fancy city life stuff, while knuckles is happy eating fruit on his island yay >w<

Shadow is very uptight about appearance and cleanliness, while knuckles is more messy and dgaf about that stuff.

Shadow is secretly sweet and kind and loves pretty things but thinks it's a blow to his nonchalant appearance (he's also scared to show weakness) so he acts cold when really he's happy, while knuckles doesn't keep up fake appearances he's just a nonchalant GOAT who says what he means and means what he says.

Shadow isn't actually very physically strong, all his power comes from chaos energy (which technically would make him much weaker than sonic if he didn't have a chaos emerald) while knuckles strength trains every day to get those gains.

Okay, hear me out, hedgehogs are born blind and develop better eyesight as they mature, and until that time they use their sense of smell.

Little sonic (Nicky) wore glasses when he was 9 years old, Amy isn't that much older than him, being only 12 (compared to sonic who's 15 and probably has better eyesight now)

I think that Amy is getting better eyesight but since it's all still quite new to her, she's still relying on her sense of smell, especially in situations where she's acting fast without thinking- but especially because in the scene where she mistakes Shadow for Sonic, it was daytime, and even older hedgehogs have trouble seeing in the light.
