Here is an article from NPR about it (May 22, 2026):
Carolina Milanesi, an independent technology analyst, said Google is trying to make its cash cow business â search â richer and more personalized, and it will make shopping easier. But there is a risk that users may have fewer choices about what to click.
"Right now it's: I ask a question, I get a bunch of answers and I feel that I'm in control as to which answer I take, or if I'm looking for something, which product I'm going to end up buying. That is going to be less so going forward," she said.
Milanesi envisions AI-enabled search and agents proposing products to consumers â perhaps even those they have requested â but with less clarity or choice around where it's coming from.
"If you're going to say: 'I want a pair of Jordans, go find them,' you're not necessarily sure what steps have been taken and whether the AI has used a source or a store that was paid for and therefore came up in the search results," she said, "or if AI actually went and did their due diligence and picked the best for me as a customer."
And here's one from Time magazine (May 20, 2026):
While Google already has âAI Mode,â the company will now power the whole search bar through its new Gemini 3.5 Flash model.Â
Instead of the classic list of blue links, Google Search will now also generate a custom page with an AI-generated summary of what youâre searching about, which will then trigger a conversation with AI Mode on the main page, allowing users to ask follow-up questionsâsimilar to the kind of layout you would see when opening ChatGPT.
And a little more from Time's article on how this may affect the websites that we are trying to search for:
When Google first started implementing AI-assisted results, news publishers warned of âcatastrophicâ impacts on the industry, much of which relies on Google search to drive users to their websites.Â
Last year, news websites saw significant traffic declines as chatbots increasingly replaced Google search as the primary way to find sites and ask questions.Â
Small businesses also noted drops in traffic to their sites from Google, which has traditionally delivered customers. Â
Lily Ray, vice president of SEO strategy & research at Amsive, a digital marketing agency, warned as early as last year that Googleâs planned changes to search are âgoing to have a devastating impact on the Internet.âÂ
âIt will severely cut into the main source of revenue for most publishers and it will disincentivize content creators who rely on organic search traffic, which is millions of websites, maybe more,â she told Technology Magazine. Â

given all the rising transphobia and shit, we should remember that white trannies are still relatively safe and will be able to endure more escalation more easily, we're not at the top of any shit list even if we near if, trans women of color however are very vulnerable, and we need to remember they're our sisters, not our shields
Here's a pretty good organization that does this type of work!
The Black Trans Travel Fund is a Black trans-led collective rooted in self-advocacy and mutual aid for Black trans women globally, our mission is to provide travel support, connect communities internationally, and establish paths towards âopportunities, safety, and success.
The psychiatrist who wrote the criteria for narcissism just made an extremely important point about whatâs wrong with diagnosing Trump with mental disorders
Dr. Allen Frances says in speculating about Trumpâs mental health, we are doing a disservice to those who do suffer from mental illness. In a series of tweets, he explained why he doesnât think Trump is a narcissist â and how harmful it can be for us to keep assuming that he is.
Wow, a post where a qualified professional explains why itâs bad to misuse clinical terminology and equate mental illness with authoritarianism. Iâm sure the comments donât contain any people defending to the death their right to misuse clinical terminology and equate mental illness with authoritarianism

i had a meet n greet with the anaesthesiologist for my top surgery and he said itâs his favourite procedure to work on because everyone who wants it is just so truly happy to be there, and i canât stop thinking about this career that is 99% attending to various sadnesses miseries and woes and 1% having funny little dudes in dangerfield buttonups throwing themselves on the operating table like YEEHAW LETâS GOOOO
i donât normally add to peopleâs posts, but iâm an OR nurse who specializes in gender affirming surgery, and this is totally correct. when we bring the patient into the OR we always ask them what surgery theyâre having (to make sure there are no oopsies) and more often than not, my top surgery patients will say âYOUâRE CUTTINâ THESE BITCHES OFFâ or âYOUâRE GONNA YEET THE TEATSâ and i know i have the best job in the world.

The sun dips down between the skyscrapers as two lone figures stand behind a guard rail some distance away from the bustling sounds of the city. One is a redhead with pale skin, a scarf tide around their neck and tucked into a light brown wool trench coat. The other is a man, even paler, with short, black hair, a black leather jacket, and fingerless gloves. No words are spoken between the two of them. The only sounds between them come from the man with black hair and itâs merely inhalations and exhalations followed by smoke drifting from his mouth.
The redhead leans against the guard rail with their forearms, their hands clasped in front of them despite the chill of the metal seeping through their jacket sleeves. The black-haired man shifts next to them, peering down at the otherâs change in position before bringing his eyes back to the sunset. The redhead takes a breath and looks up at their companion, waiting for him to notice them staring. The other glances at them with a brow raised before rolling his eyes and passing the cigarette he was smoking over to their slim fingers. A coy smile and flutter of eyelashes is given as a silent âthank youâ causing the black-haired man to scoff in response. The redhead takes a drag from the cigarette before bringing their hand back where it was leaning on the railing. The smoke trails lazily from between their limp fingers and they exhale slowly, watching the smoke obscure the sun in a haze.
âIf you drop my cigarette, Benbozo, weâre going to have some problems,â the black-haired man warns slowly. The redhead chuckles lightly.
âIs that a promise, Bad?â the redhead retorts. The threat and response hang in the air like the smoke they were breathing. Benbozo straightens their posture before swiftly sticking the cigarette between Badâs lips. Bad simply laughs out of the corner of his mouth before readjusting the cigarette so itâs securely between his teeth. Benbozo leans closer to Bad so that their shoulders were touching and a meager amount of warmth could be shared. Any closer feels like something forbidden. Yet despite that, Bad wraps an arm around Benbozoâs waist, his hand gripping their hip to pull them closer. Benbozo turns their head to try and read Badâs facial expression but it doesnât reveal anything. They continue to stare before turning their gaze back to the horizon.
âPrime says youâre a version of him that made bad choices instead of good ones,â Benbozo starts. Bad grunts, clearly not thrilled at both the mention and comparison to Prime. He remains silent though so Benbozo takes that as a sign to continue speaking. âSo does that make me another one of your bad choices?â they ask, facing Bad again. At this question, Bad does turn his head, his brow raised. They maintain eye contact for a few seconds before Bad looks away first. He takes a drag from his cigarette to buy himself time, which Benbozo grants him. Theyâre not really expecting an answer, itâs just something theyâre curious about.
âIn my mind, my choices are just choices. They arenât good or bad,â Bad explains. âBut youâre probably a bad choice because youâre too good for me.â Benbozo laughs behind their hand and ignores Badâs affronted noise.
âPrime would think Iâm the one making a bad choice if I told him weâre spending time together,â Benbozo chirps. âBut as you said, right now itâs just a choice. Weâll find out later if itâs good or bad,â they conclude. They rest their head against Badâs and sigh feeling Bad tighten his grip on their waist. âMaybe I can be your first good choice? Isnât that a thought?â they ask dreamily. Bad barks out a harsh laugh, which causes Benbozo to giggle behind their hand again.
