Okay, but that discussion implies that, in the avatar universe, it’s common knowledge that most animals are mash ups of other animals. Not just a naming scheme thought up by the writers and ignored by the characters, but an actual in-world way of naming these weird chimeric animals, and that everybody knows that there exists, or at least did exist, animals that are the individual components of the chimeric ones. So the question is, how did Avatar’s animals get so fucked up?
