Zelda of the Yiga Clan – My almost finished “f*ck the monarchy, okay maybe literally” role-reversal Tears of the Kingdom story with King Link and a Zelda who’s determined to get rid of the monarchy. Staying silly enough to keep writing this is how I’ve survived an incredibly stressful time with The Horrors.
A few faves:
The Pretty Widow – Modern Breath of the Wild AU with goats (and so much pining). Link becomes like live-in help for a widow with a broken arm, but why does looking at him seem to make her so sad?
A Body Not Meant For Rest – Breath of the Wild Link getting some help in dealing with a lingering injury post-calamity.
Our purpose is to cut, not to feel. – Look, I know a Puppet Zelda x Knight Construct fic written before Age of Calamity even came out is a hard sell, so I’m not surprised no one likes this as much as I do. But I re-read all of Murderbot last year and had feels about what it means to be a person.
Zelda didn’t want to give the weapons back – Zelda finding her footing after the events of Echoes of Wisdom. Honestly if people hadn’t been so kind in the comments of this fic I probably wouldn’t still be writing Zelda fanfiction, so even if I get a billion times better at writing years from now this one’s always going to have a place in my heart.
Service Voe Do NOT Pet (Breath of the Wild Edition) - Princess Zelda comes up with a plan to get her appointed knight special permission to enter Gerudo Town. The pair nearly cause a diplomatic incident instead. (Pre and Post Calamity Breath of the Wild)

Field Notebook – Trapped in a rift after (hopefully) saving the princess, Link tries to communicate back to the normal world. (Mid-game Echoes of Wisdom)
Ignizol Snow Removal Service – Zelda and Dohna start a snow removal service. With fire. (Echoes of Wisdom side-quest vibes)
Tulip Side Quest -- Sheik is feeling guilty about not being a better friend to Link, and “accidentally” meets up with him in a random town. I always thought Link and Sheik deserved more time together in Ocarina of Time.
Recognition -- “With the amount of time you spend staring at that guy, I can only conclude that you have a crush, Link.” Link thinks the new guy at the coffee shop looks awfully familiar... A modern Ocarina of Time AU for the Serenade of Time event.
SERVICE VOE DO NOT PET – Zelda wants to bring her new friend Link into Gerudo Town and Dohna figures out how to make it happen. This bit of silliness is Post-game Echoes of Wisdom.
Wisdom, Agility and Silence – Zelda and Dohna are best friends and magical girls, tasked by their fairies with closing rifts in reality. When a girl at school claims to have been saved from a rift by a silent prince, Zelda is skeptical, until she sees him herself. (Magical Girls AU for Echoes of Wisdom.)
Rails and Rituals -- Link overhears some people complaining that Princess Zelda could use more experience, and he decides that Hyrule needs some help to see her the way he does. (Post-game Spirit Tracks)

Reasons for hope: Lots of amazing people did a ton of work to make this fantastic, fully interactive resource available - because no matter how bleak things seem, there are millions, and millions of people doing everything they can to protect both the world and their own communities.

My grandma ran a planetarium. I honor her memory by posting about space, although as the only non scientist in my family, I'm just a lifelong fan. So here's a "show and tell" essay about Apollo 11, when humans first set foot on another world.

Armstrong's flown suit (see NASA breakdown)
Mom always talked about the white-knuckled moment when Neil Armstrong had to take over from autopilot and dodge a rocky landing spot, putting down with fuel running out.
But that wasn't the only problem.
I knew their cutting-edge guidance computer overloaded (despite its super cool rope memory, see below). I didn't know about the signal issues they were having with MSFN, the fledgeling Manned Space Flight Network, ie "let's tether the world's big radio receivers ."
After that, setting foot on the Moon was almost an anticlimax.
Then again, scientists couldn't be sure how deep the dust was on the surface of the Moon after 4.8 billion years of meteor strikes.
Would the lander or astronauts sink into a dust drift and disappear?
This footage/audio has been restored, but it doesn't fix Neil Armstrong's flub (He insisted he said "a man," experts debate whether "a" was lost by a signal drop or human error.)

About that core rope memory, a creative solution to the problem that pre-silicon chip computers had to use racks of circuits that filled whole rooms, and programs were coded in binary on huge stacks of punchcards that were a zero-G nightmare waiting to happen:
Moon dust turned out to be a headache: it sticks to and gets into everything. 50 years later, a classmate of mine on NASA's design team for the Artemis mission was wrestling with how to keep it out of seals and how to clean it off spacesuits in airlocks, before it can cause astronaut asthma/silicosis and damage gaskets, equipment, ventilation and electronics.
On the other hand, Moon dust led to the discovery and confirmation that the Moon was formed by Earth getting thwacked by a Mars-sized planet early in its life, which has impacted the development of Earth — and maybe life itself — ever since.

Final bit of trivia: Neil Armstrong was an OG Trekkie. I know this because at certain huge aerospace-related dinners, people were seated alphabetically, and my lucky-ass plus-one Mom got to sit next to Neil, fan geeking with him and embarrassing my rocket engineer dad.

Zelda could feel herself relaxing around her father for the first time in years as they discussed trade goods to offer the Rito in exchange for the timber needed to rebuild the damaged parts of Castle Town, or what they could offer the Gorons for ore.
But then he gestured at a more formal looking document. “The council would like to know when you plan to announce your betrothal.”
“My WHAT?”
Her father gave her a stern look. “I know about your pregnancy.”

Korok 96 has fallen and he can't get up. I'm really loopy on migraine meds so when my kid said he was bored he wound up helping me come up with very low effort korok.
This one will be a delightful outlier if anyone tries to claim my art clearly improved over the course of this project.
