To my Canadian followers, here is a petition on the House of Commons website aiming to revoke permissions that would allow ICE offices to operate on Canadian soil, and to cancel funding and subsidies to Canadian companies who are arming ICE agencies with services, goods, and surveillance technologies that would further enable the lawlessness and abuses that ICE has committed. When you sign, you must click on the confirmation email link that will be sent to the email you sign with in order to verify your signature, otherwise it will not be counted.
For my non-Canadian followers, please share this petition and hopefully this will further the reach to other Canadian users on this platform. It is abominable that any company in this country help or in any way facilitate the unconstitutional and dehumanising acts that ICE has done.
In my city of Vancouver, we have been protesting and boycotting Hootsuite, a social media platform that has a $2M USD contract with DHS providing them with social media services from 2024 to 2029. Hootsuite claims they don't use tracking or surveillance with their tools, but the mere fact that they have chosen to work with the violent group in whatever social media capacity, despite previously *turning down* a contract with them back in 2020, is egregious.
Jim Pattison Group is a enormous conglomerate also based in Vancouver, owned and run by one man, Jim Pattison. Pattison previously considered selling an industrial building in Virginia to ICE for them to use as another "holding and processing facility," or more accurately, a goddamn concentration camp, but because of backlash he reversed that decision. Thank fucking god for that, but that does not mean he won't consider it again in the future.
In Ontario, ICE ordered 20 armoured vehicles from a Brampton firm called Roshel to the tune of $7.3M USD. Canada should not be arming a violent group that has shown itself to be nothing more than a racist group of masked kidnappers and power-tripping thugs that has violated the rights of US citizens and immigrants and violated numerous court orders.
I'm disgusted that there are Canadian companies that are willingly partnering with DHS and ICE despite the carnage that has been documented over the last year. It is exactly why I've signed this petition and am sharing it with you. Do not let any Canadian companies think they can rest easy by choosing to work with a violent group that is terrorising, abusing, and murdering US citizens of all walks of life, all at the orders of a fascist government run by abusers and tyrants.
Really really late from ur Team Spirit au, but I was wondering if you had a reason why Cal couldn’t see Team Spirit, since in the West Haunts video it seemed like he and Nevada were equal on the hauntedness chart

Yeah, California and Nevada were about equal hauntedness in the video, but I preferred to have one state per region that could see Team Spirit. California was already my special blorbo that had a whole lot put into their Spirit, and so I felt like that western spot should go to Nevada instead.
Nevada was the more interesting option when it came to how seeing Spirit and ghosts would affect their characters. He uses it as an hidden advantage in poker as personifications can’t control how Spirit reacts to their emotions (and most aren’t aware it does), so he’ll read that along with their expressions to predict the strength of their hands. Nevada keeps quiet about this ability of his to maintain this advantage for as long as he can.
If California could see Spirit, he’d constantly blind themself whenever he looks in their reflection lol

I liked the lace around his legs because it helped give him something to balance the top and bottom, especially the design is top heavy. And I think just the bows should go. Fingerless gloves totally fit Florida's vibes. And what is crazy, is that the color scheme you just gave, is exactly how I was seeing it.
Im not trying to force you to change anything. I just like to give constructive criticism sometimes. I am no expert, especially with it being your AU. I absolutely LOVE his outfit otherwise!
Thank you! I really appreciate your interest in his outfit! As sort of the “main face” of the AU, I wanted his design to resemble the most like a traditional magical girl, but of course with a rougher feel to fit with Florida more. And as for the color palette, I’m glad that it was what you were thinking too! It just means I chose right with colors that’d fit with Florida :)
Another little fun thing is that the fabric scraps around his shoulders are meant to evoke the fluffed out shoulder trim that evokes little wings seen on typical magical girl designs. However, it really comes from the fact that his outfit did have sleeves, but Florida ripped them off during his transformation. A little personal touch, Florida feels more like Florida when his shoulders are exposed.
And don’t worry, you’re not forcing me to change anything! I really like hearing how other people feel about my designs!
Have you ever figured out the color palette for your Magical Florida?
I've got a vague idea, though of course I still need to properly allocate the colors and adjust value accordingly. Florida's Spirit is already a large block of orange fire, so I don't need to put more orange on his magical state outfit besides those small jewelry pieces.
Other than orange, I'm thinking he would also have light blue (his canon bucket hat), pink (canon flamingo pattern), and white (accent color, also thought it'd be cute to have the shark teeth-like trim on his two piece to be white. (Potentially black for the collar as well, though I don't know where else to allocate black yet.) A maximum of 5 is ideal for character design.
I realize pink, light blue, and white is trans colors, and that's a perfectly good coincidence for me.
The gator head on Florida's scepter would be white with light blue eyes, like that white gator plush Ben has (Albert, if I remember correctly). The gator head is sentient and its ribbon can move like arms. It just innately seems to know exactly what Florida wants to do and seamlessly moves to help him.
I do wanna remove his gloves or at least change them to fingerless gloves, feel like it'd fit him better (might fit the spiked collar better too). The ribbons around his calves were also a rushed idea that I kinda wanna change. His shoes are meant to be flats or even something like water shoes (maybe even the kind with toes).
Another idea I retroactively came up with after the initial art posts is that I want every magical state to have one noticable star in their designs to unite them and symbolize their statehood. They would all be the same kind of five-point star that appears on the American flag, though the color can vary.
Florida was confused and a little weirded out by the strange new clothes at first, but then he found out he could shoot fire from his sweet gator scepter and suddenly it was no longer an issue.
Feel free to ask any more clarifying questions if you want, though some of these things I'm still figuring out myself. Stuff like the big hat, scepter, two-piece with skirt, collar and chain, and shark teeth-like trim were all things I wanted for the design, but the other parts were sort of an afterthought just for filling out and finishing the concept.

the basic overview is that you will make a request, and an offer. the request is stating what you want to receive from this gift exchange, while the offer is stating what you feel most comfortable creating.
in your request, you can suggest a title, or not. each of the spaces is optional; you don't have to fill out every one. you can select characters or ships that you want to see, or tropes (which will go in the additional tags category). if you don't mind what you receive, you can check the "any character," "any relationship," and/or "any additional tags" boxes.
note: I didn't make the relationship section required, because leaving it blank is DIFFERENT than selecting "any relationship." if you select "any relationship," you're giving the gifter discretion to do what they will with the characters' love lives. if you leave the section blank, it means you want no significant relationships included.
in the description section, you can be as vague or specific as you want. the only thing you definitely should include is your preference for the format: if you want a fic or art or whatever. if you don't mind what form your gift comes in, say that!

I have expanded the traditional 4 types; Highspeed, Elliptical, Low Aspect and High Aspect ratio, because they were very narrow and vague categories for the most part, adding High Energy, Thermal Soaring, Night Glider, and Passerine wings. I feel that these extra types make it easier to understand and visualize the differences and similarities between wing shapes.
I’ve renamed Low Aspect to Powered Soaring, and High Aspect to Dynamic Soaring for the purposes of the fact that names made it hard to understand purpose and were easily confusable.
A lot of these wing types are also affected by tailfeather shape and size, and that will change their agility and energy expenditure as the tail also generates lift.

So in the punch out community a very common argument i see regarding to piston hondos character is pretty much his demotion on his punch out wii appearance even though he is a very good boxer so i kind of have a small theory about it
small disclaimer: im gonna use most of my information from mtpo, the po wii live action commercials , the outsiders comic and some explicit info from po wii
im also no boxing expert so most of my logic is based of what its shown to be the ranking system in punch out
Off with my starting point, piston hondo has ALWAYS been portrayed as a very skilled professional boxer and a very intimidating contender in pretty much every punch out media he makes an apparition in.
Him being both the previous major circuit title holder (according to the live action commercial) and being previously ranked #5 in the world circuit (according to his rematch in mtpo) it is shown that hondo is very skilled so it makes people question why is he so low ranked in punch out wii.
Now, my guess is that he retired before the events of punch out wii to pursue something else (as it is mentioned on the live action commercial) hondo is shown to be a very busy man that has other activities besides boxing full time (like doing charity work as it is shown on outsiders or putting up a steakhouse as shown in the live action commercial) so maybe his retirement is a big cause of him falling off in the ranks
So probably hondos reapparition in punch out wii is him coming back to boxing (as shown on the live action commercial mentioning that he was making a comeback after being inactive for a long time) forcing him to start from scratch in the major circuit, having him become #3 in the major circuit as it is shown in punch out wii, and him trying to steal macs title on title defense its more fueled by his wish of earning his title back more than being motivated by hatred towards mac, so hondo is in fact a very good boxer who just has to climb up the ranks again.
Also due to don flamenco’s recent positioning as the new major circuit champion pretty much didnt help a lot in hondos current ranking, mostly because don’s current title probably being a main reason why hondo most likely had to start from scratch again in the major circuit.
“Why isnt hondo on the world circuit?”
this is more of an extra that doesn’t relate at all to my main point but its also something that i see a lot regarding hondo and i didnt want to leave out, the question of why he and other very skilled fighters aren’t in the world circuit.
A big reason of why i believe hondo and other fighters arent in the world circuit is pretty much that there are no weight divisions in the wvba.
hondo and most of the other boxers are up to the middleweight division at most (excluding bear hugger,disco kid and hippo)
these guys ofc arent like mac so they most of the time get tanked by the world circuit contenders since all of them are pretty much heavyweights (excluding aran since he is a middleweight) so thats a big reason they including hondo probably never make it far on the world circuit unlike the rest due to the size difference.
please note that this is my own interpretation of things!! punch out in general doesnt have a solid timeline so it was hard piecing this together, hope you enjoyed!!
