Like he's already got half of it in his mouth and is slowly shoving the rest in. The rest of the NE are lwk watching and "cheering" him on. More like mumbling approval and slightly shocked he's done so well.
Penn does spot him but he's like lwk too locked in bc 50 bucks are on the line. (Their all like millionaires)
I fear I am a "California knows more about a lot of things than one would expect"/"California knows a little about everything" truther. Idk he just seems like the type to like learning, excel at it, and as the personification of California he's got a lot of access to different walks of life and shit.
All this to say I think it would be cute if Cal was hanging out talking with Michigan while Mich was messing with a car and Mich is about to do something or is just blanking on something and Cal points it out (its honestly probably smth basic, but experts often miss basic things and another set of eyes is always valuble) and Michigan just looks up at him with the biggest eyes and is like "you know how to work on cars?" and Cal just shrugs and is like "yeah, I had a few decades where I just wandered around picking up odd jobs sometimes, had a short stint working at a car/maintenance shop." and Michigan is like "thank GOD, I've been wanting an extra set of hands but the rest of the midwest is a pain when it comes to this. get over here." And Cal ends up helping Michigan and he's listening as Michigan rambles and they're sharing crazy stories about working on cars (like those "Customer states" videos lol) and they're just bonding over this. (and here comes the Texcali bc I must). Texas pops in to tell Michigan smth (bc they're decent friends) and he opens the door to the garage and just sees Cal with his sleeves rolled up, grease on his hands and smudged on his face, smiling brightly and he thinks its hot as fuck. So obviously he snarks at Cal bc he can't deal with his feelings, and Cal glares at him and Texas is just like 'fuck, that's even hotter' and essentially just goes "fuck you california" and then leaves.
anyway, sorry for the entire fucking fanfic in your inbox, jeez.
