I think it's really funny that reading the discworld witch books (at least the ones that are Weatherwax+Ogg+Magrat), Granny immediately seems like the scariest one by far. She seems like a terrifying force of nature accompanied by a jovial old grandma and an insecure young woman. But as the series progress, the times when Granny holds back and Nanny and Magrat jovially engage in brutal physical violence add up. Now I'm not saying you *shouldn't* be scared of Granny, I'm just saying that she has a rather strong conscience in her way, whereas Magrat and Nanny will both sucker punch you, kick you between the legs and happily step over your groaning body. Granny is to be feared, but Nanny doesn't fight fair and Magrat will kill a motherfucker. Terry Pratchett really knew how to write female characters.
Too right to stay in the tags

alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

âIf I have one message to give to the secular American people, itâs that the world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we donât know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same.â
â Marjane Satrapi, Iranian graphic novelist
Goodnight, and rest in peace, Marjane Satrapi. Thank you for your work and your voice. May we hear you.
We read Persepolis, and watched the adaptation, in the 10th grade, and it's stayed with me ever since. I'm eternally in awe of Marjane Satrapi's bravery and resilience, and may she rest in peace.

Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism arenât marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.
Praying for a safe journey back to the spirit world, Uncle â¤ď¸âđŠšđŚ
Today is the anniversary of the death of Jonathan Joss (King of the Hill, Parks and Rec). Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who died protecting his transgender husband, on the first day of Pride month. Today we remember him and how he protected his family.
finally decided to sit down and watch the incredibles again. there will be no commentary because iâm gonna be too busy watching it
okay i just gotta say
having been married for 3 years now (almost), i really love how bob & helen argue. when i was a kid it just came off to me that everyone in this movie was being super mean for no reason but when you watch it as an adult itâs different. i really appreciate that even when bob is frustrated/angry he basically never lashes out at helen or the kids, his problem is heâs withdrawn and existantialling. i also really appreciate that when they do fight theyâre actually more expressing their frustration than attacking each other. itâs only later when things get real that helen (understandably) gets really angry.
also ednaâs advice is actually really good, helenâs just melting down over the idea of losing her husband (which is sweet and helps us understand her character) but edna tells her to confront it immediately, hold bob to account by leaning into his concern (all his heroics being forgotten) and reminding him that sheâs a super, too. direct action is a blessing in communication.
i love how the movie communicates bobâs competency, like heâs actually handling all the twists and turns of the situation rapidly deteriorating very well, the only thing that throws him off is when his family gets involved. we also see helenâs competency in the plane scene and how she immediately knows somethingâs up when no one responds on the radio
syndrome is such a fucking good villain, saying âi seem to recall you prefer to work aloneâ and laughing at him when he believes heâs murdered the guyâs wife and kids???? holy fuck
as previously mentioned bob breaking down and sobbing alone in the containment room shaped my personality
ah the good old days of 2004 when having a voluptuous mom ass was a bad thing. good riddance, we donât miss you.
also the itâs a neat little parallel to bobâs body image struggles, they really went to great lengths to showcase that these people are equals & soulmates
the kids are really well-written too, they feel very authentically their age and they both have motivations, the writing does a great job of showing how the gravity of the situation sinks in for them and forces them to rise to meet it. dash especially fascinates me in this movie because heâs just the right balance between immature and starting, just starting to get that life is a big deal and stakes are real and youâve got to care about what youâre doing and try to do the right thing in every situation. the way the kids instinctively protect each other even though all weâve seen of them so far in the movie is antagonism is just *clenches fist* so good
The Incredibles is incredible on every level
I appreciate the "there will be no commentary because iâm gonna be too busy watching it" followed by 8 of the truest takes on the movie, respect.
The debate about what to do next. Read the next book in the current series, or bounce to some Mercedes Lackey? Jump into the Tree of Gondor beading project? Finally make that skirt? Put words down on one of the three(!!!) writing WIPs I have going?
Why are all my hobbies intricate and/or time consuming?
My vote is for all of the above!!!!
Sadly, while I might vibe with Ursula, I lack her tentacles to employ in the "all of the above" choice
I change my vote to "tentacle acquisition".
THAT WASN'T EVEN ON THE TEST
You know I'm an innovator.
...Are...are you innovating tentacles right now
I'm innovating YOU.
...with tentacles.
How attached are you to your left arm?
I am EXTREMELY attached to the left arm. And the right. And...y'know what, ALL my extremities. If we're doing tentacles, they're ADD-ONS, not REPLACEMENTS.
Okay, okay, I hear what you're saying. We'll make the tentacles grow out of your ears and make the suckers ear-shaped so you can hear things really, really well.

Reminder, nobody's done it better
This song always does make me feel good when I listen to it and it's a shame I don't remember it more when I'm not feeling good. Thank you Nina Simone! You were incredible and I'm sad that I didn't know of you until you were gone.
pride month!!!
Is that a miette?
Pride for you! Pride for a thousand years!!
you COME OUT to miette? you come out to her as queer? oh! oh! pride for mother! pride for mother for One Thousand Years!!!!
I will always reblog this
still remember how revolutionary this ad felt 10 years ago
excuse me but it still feels revolutionary
Keep reblogging until it feels normal everywhere.
For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.
It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldnât be legalized nation-wide until 2015.
It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldnât hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)
As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. Thatâs only ~19% of countries.
This is still revolutionary.

if an archaeologist says an artifact was probably for âritual purposesâ it means âi have no fuckin clueâ
but if they say it was for âfertility ritualsâ they mean âi know exactly what it was for but i dont want to say âancient dildoââ
Back in the day I worked at a certain very famous and very high caste art museum in the US as a junior curator. Part of my job was to catalog the objects in the museum database. This includes details like provenance, measurements, and a visual description of what the object looked like.
Like I said, the museum was a pretty snotty institution. Itâs got a LOT of objects itâs way famous for possessing, but nobody knew about the absolutely massive collection of Moche erotic pottery it had because the curators were totally embarrassed by this stuff.
Some examples:
Pretty hot shit, right? They never, ever put any of this stuff on public view or published it in any catalogues but - we legit had like several hundred pieces of Moche ceramics in the âdirty potsâ category. Anyway, I was left alone to just do my job with regard to the database for several years, ok? And I figured, well, theseâre accessioned objects in the museumâs collection - better get down to bidness.Â
I catalogued every goddamn bestiality, necrophiliac, cocksucking, buttfucking, detached penis, and giant vulva drinking cup in that collection. Iâd be like,Â
A drinking vessel in form of a standing man wearing a tunic and cap. He holds an oversized erection in his hands and stares into the distance (note I did not say âlike heâs hella-constipatedâ). The vessel has a hole at both the tip of the penis as well as around the rim of the figureâs head, thus forcing the drinker to drink only from the penis or risk spilling wine all over themselves from the top of the vessel. Red and orange slip covers the surface of the piece.
Pretty straightforward, right? Apparently the deep seated fear of these objects that the curators exhibited was meant to spread to me as well, but - no one ever gave me that memo, because I guess Midwesterners reproduce asexually. When the curators understood that I had catalogued all of these objects in addition to the other, non-sexy pieces in the collection, they were apparently livid, but knew they had no legs to stand on in terms of getting pissed at me for it.Â
I visited the museumâs online public access database a few years back and - every single description I wrote of these pieces has been totally neutered to say something like Male figural vase.Â
Long story short? Just call a dildo a fucking dildo. Itâs all gonna be ok, I swear.
This is absolutely the MOST unusual reblog I have ever tagged with what is probably my second-favorite tag, âtalk to me about your work.â
Plus itâs hilarious.
I love ancient art history !!!!!
@lowercasetrashwriter
Museums should have sections dedicated to artifacts like these with a warning that says âThereâs a lot of private parts in here but weâre dedicated to displaying history so we wonât censor these. Enter at your own riskâ or something. Itâs prudish to deliberately hide history because of some ding dongs.
Fucking Puritanism.
Unpopular opinion: Sex exists. Making body parts taboo is both psychologically bad for us and kinda stupid.
