anon hater just accused me of (among other things) "encouraging kids to install malware on their parents' computers". I don't remember ever doing that but it sounded like a fun concept for a post so here are some ideas for things to install on your parents' computers!
a custom DNS resolver that blocks access to Fox News and other right-wing propaganda outlets
a keylogger to capture the admin password for your router so you can disable parental controls
a VPN or a virtual machine running the Tor browser to bypass access restrictions and age verification checks
your own "parental controls" browser extension, set up to send you notifications if your parents visit websites that indicate they might be spying on you (e.g. Life360)
a userscript that adds a fake virus warning popup to the donation pages of fascist political parties
have fun! make sure to do loads of reading and learn how things work so you can break them safely and effectively!
oh, and anon, my advice to you is never stab a man who collects knives
If THE modern translator of the OG Odyssey text wrote this about my film adaptation Iād kill myself
Emily Wilson youāre goated
ok but eurydice is hungry all she wants is food and shelter and she has no way to get that but sign her life away to endless dehumanizing work that isolates her and leaves her to forget herself
hadestown really said capitalism strips you of your personhood and uniting through optimism and hope is the only way out (and if it doesn't work this time we're gonna sing it again and again)

To me the most important message of Hadestown is hope.
I feel like people get so distracted by the tragedy and the love stories (typical allos š) that they donāt see there was deliberately a hopeful result of Orpheusā trip to Hadestown. This is something not part of the original myth, an intentional expansion of the story for this adaptation.
True, Orpheus failed in his central goal, which was to bring Eurydice back from the dead. But by just TRYING to do that, there were unintended positive consequences. The workers started to wake up and question the justice of the system they were working for. And Hades and Persephone seem to start to come to a new understanding, a possible mending of their relationship.
Of course we donāt know the full ramifications. Maybe the workers rise up, maybe not. Maybe Hades stops coming early for Persephone, maybe not. But the potential is there, and in that potential I see a central hopeful message in the story.
The message of Hadestown to me isnāt ādonāt try because youāll fail and isnāt that sad.ā The message is, āTry. Try to do the big audacious and good but impossible thing. Because just by trying you will have a positive impact, even if you fail in your central task. Keep trying even if you failed in the past. Maybe it will work out this time, or maybe something else good will come of it.ā
also rewatched the first episode of rgu last night and was thrown off by the mention of a regional basketball tournament. can you imagine being a regular school basketball team and having to play against the surreal psychological horror metaphor and allegory school team
the year was Two Thousand and twenty-four. I took a puff of my Electronic-Cigarette, inhaling the vapours. my mobile terminal buzzed in my pocket, a flat slab of microchips and glossy touchscreen. I ignored it....... probably another Electronic-Mail
STORYTIME. Last February, I sold a mug on Etsy. Common occurrence. Great. After it arrived at its new home, I got an email from the woman who bought it. She thanked me for the beautiful piece and remarked that the handle was perfectāshe struggles with arthritis and finds many mugs difficult to hold. I was so touched!
Fast forward to six weeks agoāI receive an email from her husband, explaining he broke the mug (lol) and asking if Iād be willing to take on a commission to replace it. He reiterates how she has arthritis but also shares she used to make pottery, herself, but can only really paint, now. I say of course! Come to find out, he wants a WHOLE SET of mugs to replace the broken one. Even better! I end up making the whole set twice (I wasnāt satisfied with the first attempt), but finally get them packed up and sent off across the country.
I just received the kindest message from the husband, saying āIt is not often in today's world that someone does 100% of what they have promised,ā thanking me profusely, and sharing that his wife is already happily using the new mugs.
Anyway, I guess the point is that making art is hard. And commissions always cause me a lot of undue stress, but things like this remind me why I love creating and connecting with people. š

i think we should start openly mocking male creatives who can't figure out how to write women. like actually i think it's embarrassing that it took elliot page transitioning for christopher nolan to give him a good role. why did it take like ten years to get the first female lead in a marvel movie? why is it a Known Fact that stephen king can't write women? why is 50% of the population omitted from large ensemble works? i asked my friend to name a movie directed by a man with a majority female cast and he said ghostbusters 2016. ghostbusters. ghostbusters. g
