I see a lot of positivity posts about 12-year-olds just learning to draw. Â Posts cautioning us to be mindful of 11-year-olds with no grasp of anatomy and 13-year-olds whose characters are all the same person with different hair and clothes, and I love those posts. Â Those are great posts. Â Keep those posts coming, tumblr.
But can I ask, what about the 25-year-old who just bought their first ever sketchbook? Â What about the 32-year-old whoâs been drawing for a month and has just about got the hang of a human-looking face? Â What about the 67-year-old who finally has time to sit down and learn how to paint like theyâve always wanted?
Not everyone starts drawing as a child. Â Not everyone learned as a preteen. Â Some people start in college. Â Some people start when their career is going well and they feel like itâs time for a new hobby. Â Some people start after theyâve retired.
Not all beginner artists are kids, and I just think the adults ones deserve some encouragement, too.

Thinking about it, the Mystery Twins are those dumb people that walk towards the creepy sound at night on a horror movie, except they actually survive.
Someone: âYâall weâre being the white college kids in a movie right now.â
Mabel: âYea, but none of them ever have a knife!â
Someone: âWhy the fuck do you have a knife?!?â
Dipper: âCause sheâs better at hand to hand so I take the crossbow.â
Someone: âWhat the fuck!?!?â
Mabel: âWe also have some holy water, saltâ
Dipper: âSome sage and unicorn hairâ
Someone: âUhh are we sure they ainât the killers?â
Mabel: âDonât be silly! we would had done a better job of hiding the bodiesâ
Dipper: âwhat she saidâ
Someone: âoh no oh no weâre cornered thereâs no way out weâre all gonna dieââ
Dipper: âDonât worry, weâve got our uncles on speed-dialâ
Someone: âHow is THAT supposed to help?!â
Mabel (on phone): âYeah, so this dude is trying to kill usââ
*wall implodes*
Stan and Ford: âWHERE IS HE.â
Derek: Tonight, one of you will betray us.
Erica: Is it me, Derek?
Derek: No, itâs not you.
Isaac: Is it me, Derek?
Derek: Itâs not you either.
Peter: Is it me, Derek?
Derek:
Derek, mockingly: Is IT mE DerEk?
i was trying to remember the âlive long and prosperâ motto from star trek and for a solid 10 minutes the only thing i could think of was âlive big and dieâ
I just laughed for a solid minute at this
Thatâs jimâs version
For all of the northerners that stood up for Texas during our freeze and said, "Don't make fun of them, they've never dealt with this before. Their infrastructure isn't made for snow and freezing."
This one is for you.
Where I live 108°F with 80% humidity with no wind is normal.
Pacific North West is dealing historic best waves 35-40°C or 95-105°F.
First of all. Don't make fun of them for bitching about the heat. Just like Texas isn't built for a freeze and our pipes burst, Pacific North West isn't built for heat and a lot of their homes don't have AC.
If you live somewhere with a high humidity like 80+ HUMIDITY IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. The "humidity makes it feel cooler" is a lie once it gets beyond a point.
If you live somewhere with a lower humidity, misters are nice to cool off outside.
Once you get over 90°F (32°C) a fan will not help you. It's just pushing around hot air. (I mean if you can't afford a small AC unit because they're expensive as hell, by all means a fan is better than nothing).
If you have pets, those portable AC units aren't safe. If your pets destroy the outtake thing, it'll leak CO2. Window units are safer.
Window AC units will let mosquitoes or other small bugs in. Sucks, but that's life.
Now is not the time to me modest. If you have to cover for religious reasons, by all means. If you don't, I've seen people wear short shorts and a swim top. It's not trashy if it keeps you from getting heat stroke.
If you do have to cover up for religious reasons, look for elephant pants or something similar. They're made with a breathable material.
Shade is better than no shade, but that shit it just diet sun after some point. Don't think shade will save you from heat stroke.
I know the "drink your water" is a fun meme now, but if you're sweating excessively you need electrolytes. Drink Gatorade, Powerade, or Pedialite PLEASE. I don't care if you're fucking sitting in one spot all day. That shit WILL save you from heat stroke.
Most importantly. RESEARCH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEAT STROKE AND HEAT EXHAUSTION PLEASE!
Heat exhaustion is more, "drink water and get you cooled off." Heat stroke is more "Oh my god call 911."
Be safe.

Wear a hat and regularly soak it in water. As it dries it will cool your head. Its in the mid 90s here today and my hat is drying out in an hour or so, plan accordingly.
Take your time with tasks Physical activity generates body heat and you do not need more of that.
Good curtains on your windows help keep the sun out and the ac in.
Yes.
If you can afford it, blackout curtains or really thick curtains that keeps the sun out will insulate the windows.
I needed this when I lived in an apartment where my room faced west because the setting sun was too hot and the AC couldn't keep up.

[Image description: an infographic showing the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The graphic is labeled "Heat Dangers: First Warning." Signs of heat exhaustion: faint or dizzy, excessive sweating, cool, pale, clammy skin, rapid, weak pulse, muscle cramps. If you think you or someone else may be experiencing heat exhaustion, get to a cool, air-conditioned place, drink water if conscious, and take a cool shower or use cold compress. Signs of heat stroke: throbbing headache, no sweating, red, hot, dry skin, rapid, strong pulse, may lose consciousness. If you think you or someone else may be experiencing heat stroke, call 911. End description]

-Room temperature water will get into your body faster. This is something I learned doing marching band in high summer in Georgia, and it saved all of our asses. Sip it, don't gulp it, especially if you're getting into the red; same goes for whatever fluid you're drinking. And just in general drink during the day.
-If you can, keep your lights off during the day. Light bulbs may not generate a lot of heat, but the difference is noticeable when it gets hot enough. I literally only turn my bedroom light on in the evening when it gets too dark.
-If you are moving from an air conditioned space to an un-air conditioned space, if at all possible try to make the shift gradual. When my dad and I were working outside and in un-ac houses a few years ago, he'd turn the air down to low in the truck about ten-fifteen minutes before we got where we were going. This way your body doesn't go from low low temps to high temps. S'bad for you.
Reblogging this and adding this to my pinned post.

I have no idea. Let me see if anyone else in this ask place knows.
he was in arthur.
you're thinking of Jill Eikenberry; I think this guy was an astronaut of some kind
that's Neil Armstrong, I thought this guy was in How I Met Your Mother
That's Neil Patrick Harris. I think this might have been the playwright who wrote The Odd Couple.
Thatâs Neil Simon. I think this is the musician who wrote Sweet Caroline.
Thatâs Neil Diamond. I think this is an astrophysicist
Thatâs Neil deGrasse Tyson. I think this is a river in Egypt.
That's the Nile; I think this is the Irish guy who made the movies "The Crying Game" and "Interview with the Vampire".
No no no, thatâs Neil Jordan. I think this is the English author who helped write Good Omens.
Youâre right! This is Terry Prachetâs tumblr. Good job everyone
ok I love this meme but like
Neil Gaiman actually was in Arthur.
This is true.
This went in a totally different direction than I expected.
âGirls want a Superman, but they walk past a Clark Kent every dayâ
You fuckin CLOWNS think youâre a CLARK KENT? Not on my fuckin watch. You dumb, headass motherfuckers are barely a Guy Gardner and you think youâre a CLARK KENT? The amount of disrespect is unreal.
Listen here, wannabes: My boi Clark is 240 lbs of PURE KANSAS BEEF trained from a young age by Ma Kent to Love and Respect women as the Intelligent, Independent beings they are. He is shy rambling about tractors and casually moving the copy machine when my pen falls behind it and he would NEVER demand I be sexually or romantically interested just because heâs nice.
Yâall ainât Clark Kent.
I have never hit the reblog button so damn fast.
âbarely a Guy Gardnerâ is the sickest comics related burn Iâve heard to date.Â
They might walk past a Clark Kent every day but Clark Kent doesnât actually mind because he respects their decisions
ancient greek word of the day: κικοθξĎÎŽĎ (kakotherÄs), unfitted to endure summer heat
this literally means âbad at summerâ pass it on

For those who havenât heard, this woman in Arkansas was speeding by a slight margin (5 miles) and was flagged to pull over by an officer. She put on her blinker and got into the right most lane, then slowed and put her hazards on, indicating she was looking for a safe place to pull over. This is actually what police departments, and this one specifically, tell people to do. The shoulder on that road was quite narrow, and she was likely waiting to exit the interstate.
Despite this, the officer slowly gains on her and uses a pit maneuver to spin her car out. This sent her (and her unborn child) careening into the median and completely flipping the car. The officer is heard calling for ems in a very calm voice.
From what I can find, the woman is alright, as is her child. Sheâs looking to pursue legal action against the officer, who has defended his actions by claiming she was driving wildly and swerving. As Iâve seen so far, he is still being paid and on the force.
In case there was any doubt that cops are fucking liars, here's the video of her "driving wildly and swerving"
Abolish Cops
They bloodthirsty terrorists
The trauma. God. Fuck all the cops and fuck all their supporters too
I saw her interviewed on CNN. The most relevant facts she added were 1) they were a mile from an exit, which you can see in the video, and 2) she was concerned about the officerâs safety given they were on a highway at night with a narrow shoulder.
She was concerned about his safety. Let that sink in.
Venus Love and Beauty Shock! in 90s anime & Sailor Moon Eternal part One
While I enjoyed the new Netflix version I will always have a soft spot for the 90s version of this show.
