Aziraphale/Crowley. Plus an array of other Good Omens-related goodies. Work-unsafe posts are tagged #lemons. This is a sideblog for @onthedriftinthetardis. Avatar by @mielpetite.
I'm in love with impressionism and I want to include it in my work. In order to do so, I need to study the style first, which led to this personal project of painting Aziraphale and Crowley in some of the scenes which Monet painted in his work.
That was the initial thought, then while trying to post on IG, I came up with short writings to give my audience a context. Now, I don't know if I could continue writing silly short conversations between the husbands to accompany the paintings in the future, but oh well let's just do it while I can.
Sorry for the yap. I have only done 3 paintings so far...
Having them together, I finally see that I have a thing for green...

I would actually make the argument that the heart of the problem here is not either about fans, as the article claims, or production companies being exploitative cowards, as some of the comments are claiming. The heart of the problem is the increasingly eroding privacy we are seeing in the modern age.
There's some people in the comments saying "fandoms have always been like this" and others saying "No, it's worse than it was." And both are to some extent right. Fans (or at least a small percentage of fans, and the larger a fanbase gets the larger a group this will describe) have always been Like That; but they did not always have the level of access to creators and actors that they have now.
The notion that a performer needs to be constantly available to public scrutiny, that their personal information should by default be available to any rando with google, is pretty new. It used to be that actors would only be expected to engage with the public on limited, specific, and controlled occasions, usually with security provided. Now they're being asked to rawdog exposure to the mob 24/7 on their own.
(Also, production companies have always always always been exploitative cowards, just to get that straight; reading the biographies of literally any actress from golden Hollywood years makes that clear. It's just, again, more public now.)
There has also been a negative feedback loop as fandoms come to realize that the constant access they have to creatives increases their leverage and power. It did not use to be the case that this was so; fandoms pre-internet largely worked under the assumption that they didn't really have any meaningful way to contact or influence the publication houses. Even if they sent a letter or a campaign of letters, they wouldn't even know whether the letters were being received or read unless the publishing house chose to respond. So, without that expectation of access, the drama usually stayed internal. Nowadays, with constant immediate feedback from creators and publishers, fans are ever more incentivized to act out to try to push an agenda, get attention, or just vent whatever is going on in their lives onto a face contractually obliged to be friendly to them.

Because GO3 refused to give Crowley and Aziraphale a real conversion regarding what went down in the GO2 F15 , i decied to write my own interpretation of how it could've gone down.... enjoy !!
Aziraphale's heart clenched painfully at the sight before him.
Crowley was sparwled on a dirty corner of Wickerbert street. Their limbs curled across the floor, hugging an empty whiskey bottle. And he was shaking.
Oh, Lord. He was shaking.
The angel swallowed hard, his eyes never left the demon. The sight of his beloved looking so utterly lost made his own vision blur with tears, but he could not look away.
Whatever had brought Crowley to this, whatever had reduced him to a shaking figure on a dirty pavement, Aziraphale knew, with a sickening twist in his stomach, that he was partly responsible.
He can't turn away. And this isn't because it was the kind thing to do, nor because he was an angel, and angels were meant to help those in need.
But because this was Crowley.
"Crowley?" he asked quietly, as though speaking too loudly might frighten him away, "hey, it's me."
The demon flinched at the sound of his voice.
"Go away... angel," he murmured, the words slurred and barely louder than a whisper as he curled further into himself.
"I'm afraid I can't do that, my dear."
For a long moment, Crowley didn't move.
Then, as though the voice had finally reached through the haze clouding his thoughts, he froze.
"...Angel?"
Slowly, Crowley tried to push himself upright, his movements sluggish and unsteady. He barely managed to lift himself before his balance faltered.
Aziraphale didn't think twice, "Easy there..."
He knelt beside him at once, one hand settling gently against Crowley's back while the other steadied his arm, guiding him with infinite care until he was sitting comfortably against the wall.
"There we are," the angel murmured, as though soothing a frightened bird. His touch remained light, careful to let Crowley pull away if he wished, though every instinct in him longed to gather the demon into his arms and never let go.
His glasses had slipped crooked across his face. When he finally raised his head,, "...Aziraphale?" he whispered, his voice a mixture between hope and disbelief.
"Quite right," Aziraphale noded softly.
Without another thought, he slipped an arm carefully around Crowley's waist, supporting as much of the demon's weight as Crowley would allow.
"What on Earth are you doing out here?" Aziraphale asked, unable to keep the worry from creeping into his voice. "Where is the Bentley? And why are you sleeping on the floor?"
"You left me for Heaven," Crowley mumbled, "What I do on Earth without you... is none of your concern."
Those words stung in ways even Hellfire never could.
In a way, Crowley wasn't wrong. Aziraphale had left. Whatever his reasons, the wound he'd inflicted was standing beside him now, heartbroken.
The angel drew a slow, steadying breath.
There would be time to admit that he, too, had been hurting. Time to confess that going back had never been about choosing Heaven over Crowley.
But not now.
Aziraphale swallowed the words still pressing against his throat, all the explanations and confessions and apologies that could wait a little longer.
"We're not standing here another moment," the angel said instead, "I'm taking you home."
"Home? You don't get to say that," Crowley muttered, but there was no real bite behind it.
âOh, but I do. And I will. As long as weâre both around, thereâs always a home.â
Crowley was going to open his mouth to protest, but the sight and feelings before him caused him quiet down.
The familiar doorway loomed ahead, warm light spilling faintly into the night like a quiet invitation. Crowley hesitated just inside the door, as though unsure whether he was allowed to exist in such a space besides Aziraphale anymore.
The angel didnât give him the time to retreat into that thought.
âCome along,â he murmured, guiding him forward. âSit down before you fall down.â
Crowley let himself be led, each step slower than the last until he finally sank into the familiar armchair as if it had been waiting for him.
Aziraphale lingered only a moment longer, checking that he was safe, that he was steady.
Then, softly, he added, âIâll make tea.â
The demon sat on his couch, his senses were quickly ensnared. He was basking at the sight of the angel before him, brewing black tea for Crowley. The earthly smell of said tea already creating an idea of the familiar and desired taste. Then there's the soft texture of the red couch, the warm lighting that isn't blinding, but just comfortable.
Crowley exhales slowly, and with a small, almost unconscious gesture, cleaned himself up. He ended up replacing the damp, crumpled clothes with something dry and simple. An instinctual miracle, really.
Aziraphale noticed immediately.
He paused mid-motion, turning slightly, concern already knitting into his expression.
âYouâre taking care of yourself now?â he asked, voice careful but edged with disbelief, âYou had the miracles to do so before⌠why not use them earlier?â
Crowley shruged, âDidnât feel like it."
Aziraphale set the kettle down more slowly than necessary.
âThatâs not an answer,â he said gently, but firmly.
âWell, what do you want me to say, Aziraphale?â Crowley snapped, âOr shall I call you Archangel Aziraphale?â
The words landed harder than he intended, and even he seemed to realize it the moment they left his mouth. The angels expression made Crowley's breath hitch, but he pushed on anyway, exhaustion breaking through the cracks in his anger.
âDo you want me to say I was miserable without you?â Crowley's hands curled slightly against the arm of the chair, as though he needed something solid to anchor himself.
âI mean, what was I supposed to do, Aziraphale?â He asks, incredulous, âMaking a spectacle of myself, begging you to stay, kissing youâwas that not enough?â
A pause.
"What do you want from me?â Crowley asked again, âWhat do you want me to say?â
For a moment, the room was still except for the faint hum of the kettle cooling. The silence was suffocating, it was so suffocating that Crowley was tempted to just walk out the door andâ
"I only ever wanted you safe."
Aziraphaleâs voice was soft, but it was honest. It was the kind of voice Crowley had longed to hear again after three years of silence that felt far too much like exile.
The demon let's out a small wince, "Then why did you leave?"
Now, Crowley knew, even as the words left him, that it was unfair. He knew Aziraphale had been nothing but careful with him since the moment theyâd reunited. Patient in a way Crowley hadnât expected and wasnât sure he trusted himself to believe in yet.
Aziraphale looked at the demon before him, devastatingly loving. He was achingly persistent in the way his gaze held Crowley as if there were no universe in which he could look away.
The silence stretched, filled only by the soft settling of the bookshop around them. The distant tick of a clock, the faint cooling of tea, the fragile space between what had been and what might still be repaired.
âI left because⌠because Heavenââ
Aziraphaleâs voice caught slightly, as though even saying it aloud made it more real than he had ever wanted it to be.
ââŚis capable of change?â Crowley offered, cautious, testing the idea like a wound he wasnât sure he wanted reopened.
Aziraphale shakes his head almost immedietly, ââŚwants to start the Second Coming.â
"Youâre joking,â Crowley said at last, but there was no humor in it.
Aziraphale shook his head once.
Crowley leaned back slightly in the armchair, one hand lifting to press against his forehead as if that might physically contain the implications.
âOh,â he breathed, hollowly. âOh, thatâsâ thatâs just brilliant.â
Aziraphale flinched at the tone,âI had to find a way to stop it!â
âSo you are not back because of me,â Crowley said flatly. âYouâre back because you need me to help you.â
âOf course not!â Aziraphale said at once, then softened, as though realizing how it sounded. âI meanâyes. I need you. I always have. But I came back because Muriel told me you were not doing so hot and, well..."
Crowley let out a slow breath, âRight."
âIf Earth gets destroyed, you and I wonât have a future,â Aziraphale said, âAnd no, CrowleyâAlpha Centauri is a perfectly nice vacation site, but weâve made our lives here.â
His voice softened again at the edges, as if the conviction itself was painful, âI had to fight for us toââ
The sentence hung there, unfinished, because even Aziraphale seemed unsure how to end it without it becoming too much, too soon, too exposed.
Aziraphale's hands came up to his face abruptly, fingers pressing hard against his eyes as though he could physically hold something back. A sound slipped out anyway.
Crowleyâs expression shifted instantly. The exhaustion was still there, the anger too, but it was suddenly crowded by something else.
ââŚAngel,â he said, quieter now.
Aziraphale shook his head behind his hands, as if apologizing without words, shoulders trembling once.
âFor us to⌠to⌠to be together, Crowley, good Godâ!â Aziraphaleâs voice broke as he lowered his hands, though his eyes were still bright with tears he couldnât quite contain. âFor us to go to the park, and the Ritz, andâ and everything! To kiss again, considering the last oneâŚâ
He stopped, swallowing hard. The memory of it seemed to hit him all at once, sharper now that he was saying it aloud.
âIt was hell without you, Crowley,â he added, more forcefully now, as if the words had finally found their way out and refused to be contained any longer, âHell, Crowley! I was in Heaven, but that isnât⌠it isnât you!â
âI donât even think youâll ever forgive me,â Aziraphale admitted quietly. âBut I am so, so sorry that I hurt you this much. I am so sorry. I just wanted to save everyone⌠save us, andââ
Aziraphale looked helpless for a moment, like someone trying to hold together something far too fragile with bare hands.
âI thought I could do both,â he whispered. âI thought I could fix it. And Iâve only made it worse.â
Crowley stared at him for a beat too long, as though still trying to process the fact that Aziraphale was standing in front of him, undone.
All of Crowley's exhaustion, anger, all the years of distance and misunderstandingâit cracked open just enough for something older to push through.
âAziraphale,â Crowley said quietly, "Angel"
The demon stepped forward, placing his arms around Aziraphaleâs shoulders. His hands rose hesitantly at first, then settled, fingers carefully threading through the angelâs curls in a slow comfort he had never truly unlearned.
âI hurt you too,â he said quietly.
Aziraphale gave a small, broken shake of his head against him, but Crowley didnât stop.
âAnd I know that,â Crowley continued, âI know I did. Iâve had three years to think about it, believe me.â
The angel let out a small whimper, something soft and broken that he would have been embarrassed by in any other moment. His arms tightened around Crowleyâs waist almost instinctively, as though afraid that letting go would mean losing him again.
âI donât know how to fix all of this,â Crowley admitted, âI donât even know where to start.â
His arms tightened around Aziraphale as he continued to let his fingers slowly thread into the angelâs curls.
It was an anchoring gesture more than anything, a part of him was still afraid that if he stopped holding on, reality might shift again and take him somewhere worse.
âBut I donât want to be without you again.â
Aziraphale went still in Crowleyâs arms. For a moment, there was only the quiet of the bookshop around them.
Then the angel nodded slightly against him, as though the words had finally found their way out of somewhere they had been waiting for far too long.
âI love you, Crowley,â he sighed, the confession slipping out before he even fully realized he had spoken. Too exhausted to catch it in time, as if it had simply been there all along, waiting for the moment he stopped holding everything back.
For a heartbeat, he seemed to freeze, like his own words had startled him. Crowley went still too.
Aziraphaleâs grip tightened instinctively, as though bracing for impact, for rejection, for anything other than the unbearable openness of what he had just said.
He felt Crowleyâs hands cradle his face. His thumbs resting lightly against Aziraphaleâs cheeks as though confirming he was real.
Then the demon leaned in just slightly, forehead almost touching his. âDonât,â Crowley whispered, âDonât go disappearing on me ever again.â
The angel nodded profusely, âI wonât,â he breathed, "I never will."
And then, as though the answer still wasnât enough to contain everything between them, he leaned forward. The space between them closed with a quiet inevitability, something finally allowed.
Aziraphale kissed him. It was a careful kiss, in the way Aziraphale had always been careful with Crowley.
Crowley softened into it, his grip shifting slightly at Aziraphaleâs face, the tension in his shoulders finally giving way to something inside him that had been waiting years for permission to do exactly this.
When they finally parted, it was only by a fraction.
Crowley let out a small, satisfied sigh, his forehead still hovering near Aziraphaleâs, âI love you too,â he murmured. âAlways have.â
âAnd that⌠Second Coming,â he added, a faint edge of determination returning to his voice, âWeâll stop it. Together. Donât you worry.â
Aziraphale gave a small, breathless laugh at that, equal parts relief and disbelief, âI wasnât planning on worrying alone,â he said gently.
Crowleyâs thumb brushed lightly against Aziraphaleâs cheek. âGood,â he muttered. âBecause youâre terrible at it on your own.â
Aziraphale let out another quiet, shaky exhale that almost turned into a laugh.
âI am not,â he protested weakly, though there was no real offense behind it.
Crowley raised an eyebrow.
ââŚAll right,â he admitted. âPerhaps I have been.â
âPerhaps,â Crowley agreed, a faint, tired amusement tugging at the corner of his mouth, âbutââ
He stopped, and it had nothing to do with him not knowing what to say. But Aziraphale was looking at him in a way that had never been lost after all, it was a look that was always there, a look that reminds Crowley that he is worth choosing, the same way he will choose Aziraphale. Over and over again.
âBut youâre still terrible at it,â Crowley finished instead, voice soft.
âI beg your pardon?â he whispered, though there was no real indignation in it.
Crowleyâs expression softened further.
âAt being alone,â he clarified. âAlways were. Worse without me.â
âI believe,â Aziraphale said carefully, âthat may no longer be a problem we need to test.â
Crowley huffed a small breath, almost a laugh.âGood,â he murmured. âBecause Iâm done testing it.â
the bookshop is silent except for the soft music and the whisper of fabric as they move. the lights are low, just warm enough to blur the edges of the world. aziraphale sways a little closer, words half-whispered into the quiet space between them. crowley looks at him like heâs known the answer for centuries.
