Reminder that "transwoman" without the space is a transmisogynistic dogwhistle as it's used almost exclusively by hate groups like the "gender critical" movement.
The implication of removing the space is that being trans isn't just one way a woman can be, like being tall or being brunette, but that women who are trans require a whole other noun.
Trans women, tall women, brunette women. Leave the space in; trans is an adjective and trans women are women.
Transphobia is about to be signed into law in the UK. We can fight this.

The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or donβt pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.

Got a refusal or no response from your MP?Β
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if theyβre already in Parliament. Even if they donβt, theyβre made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.
Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:
Organisations canβt provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination.
e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, menβs rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee.
If youβre a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from womenβs bathrooms if youβre perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a βthird spaceβ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73).Β
A womenβs only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of βlesbianβ, and therefore no longer have legal protections if theyβre discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).

a lot of the DSMβs very clearly prejudiced diagnoses (e.g. hypoactive sexual desire disorder, gender dysphoria, transvestic disorder, etc.) try to skirt around the prejudice by saying βthe disorder lies in the patientβs distress over being this way, not the behavior itself :)β like hmmm do you think their distress has anything to do with societal expectations around βnormalβ sexuality and gender? or is distress just this magic thing that exists in a vacuum with no outside influence
like keep in mind that homosexuality was in the DSM until pressure was put on the APA by gay rights activists, and they βremovedβ it in 1973 and replaced it with many different diagnostic labels over the years to describe βthis person is gay and distressed over it so weβre treating the distress with conversion therapy. blease donβt think weβre homophobic.β it wasnβt until 2013 that distress over oneβs own sexual orientation was removed entirely from the DSM. do what you will with this information and begin to wonder what psychiatryβs actual motives are for continuing to pathologize queerness and gender nonconformity.

idk if you all saw, but the supreme court just approved racial gerrymandering in alabama based on the precedent of their recent gutting of the voting rights act. they encouraged alabama to cut up their maps based on allowing people with βeuropean heritageβ to vote in a single district while black residents are to be divvied into dozens of much smaller districts that are not permitted to vote together.
putting aside the fact that most black americans have βeuropean heritageβ due to the legacy of rape during enslavement (or are simply multiracial, like i am), the real impact of this evil will be felt by some of the poorest people in the country. state by state, the ability of black people to elect their own representatives will be taken away. and with that loss of representation we will lose community services and opportunities for upward social mobility. they want to crush the black population underfoot and literally kill black people through negligence. iβve written about this before.
these demons who kidnapped and trafficked our ancestors to this hateful new world will never accept that black people built everything they hold dear. everything america has was wrought from enslavement. black people were among the first people of the old world to touch this soil, brought across the ocean in chains. i pray for this this evil nation to reap what it has sown, and soon.

The literal cofounder of queer theory as an academic field says that abandoning trans people is fascist logic.
The voices in our community trying to exclude us may be loud, but they are not right, and they do not speak for the community as a whole or our history or anything at all.
Trans people belong here. We always have, and we always will.
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
easy to miss that one of the reasons maternal mortality is diminished so extremely by modern medicine is that modern medicine makes it so much more possible to identify the pregnancies that will die and take you with them, or are otherwise unacceptably high risk. and then discontinue those ones safely, before it's too late.
thought about this because it's so frustrating when people argue that 'dying in childbirth' is a historical sort of event that doesn't happen nowadays (false) and therefore is irrelevant to the legal status of abortion, since it's not a real danger.
except it super is, and i think a lot of people haven't noticed that this argument in addition to simply being incorrect is basically the same as when people say we don't need vaccines for deadly diseases because no one gets those now anyway.
like yeah one reason for that is we vaccinate everybody ffs.
Note: after the end of Roe v Wade in the US, the maternal mortality rate (and the infant mortality rate) are showing clear increases in the states with the strictest anti-abortion laws.

For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.
