there is nothing innate about men that prevents them from competently cleaning

when people say things like “he’s a guy so any cleaning he does is ‘guy cleaning’” they mean “lower your expectations because men are slobs.” but women aren’t inherently neat (messiness is definitely a trait i have), and this just lets men off the hook when they don’t do domestic chores competently. it’s all social all the way down.

this also goes for cooking, and childcare, and and and

“Guys can’t clean” ...except for the military where they manage tidiness just fine, or as managers of top-end hotels with exemplary standards, or as butlers in high end houses... oh and guys can’t cook unless they’re chefs, and they can’t do childcare unless they’re the principal of a school, or a major authority that writes books on childcare... yeah.  Somehow, men pull it off just fine - so long as they’re no benefit to pretending like they can’t.
