It's not like Mhok doesn't know how it is, he just couldn't believe that someone who is in such a condition, not caused by their actions, an unfortunate turn of circumstances, could feel judged and almost feared by it all.

Like it happened to him, for his own actions, and getting in trouble with the law not helping with is Bad Boy aesthetics, that had him being judged wrong by many because everyone is fast to judge without knowing anything and too proud (or too afraid) to ask why something is like that in the first place, and why it's not always something bad or to be afraid of

Mhok checking Day's wrists to make sure he is alright

His sister's death got him so traumatized that even just hearing the sound of water in an uncomfortable situation like this, got him so worked up, he only knew that Day could've been harming himself and he had to be sure he was alright, or he couldn't forgive himself if he let it happen again

Day realising that the roles had been switched and that Mhok is the little prince who disappeared and making the fox (Day) worried

The exact moment he realises it, that he is the one to adjust/tamed (like P'Aon said) and how Mhok is just trying to help him not only because it's his job but because he actually cares and wants to be Day's friend
