Hamato’s Forever is my ROTTMNT Separated AU, with all of the four bros each being raised by a separate person, and their two other siblings who never truly got to be in canon are here too!
Basically, Mikey was raised by Splinter; Donnie was raised by Baron Draxum; Leo was raised by the Foot Clan; Raph and Frida were both raised by Big Mama; and Penelope wasn’t really raised by anyone, she’s been on her own for most of her life. There is a lot of shenanigans and trauma packed within this AU, and I can’t wait to share it with y’all!

If you want a reason for Riddle as the Riddler, the Riddler is often portrayed as having a rigid way of thinking, yk? His puzzles are supposed to be solved in a very specific way and anything that strays from that is cheating. The Riddler is also a raging egotist, and while Riddle is not at that level, he is certainly not one to downplay his intelligence. Riddle's special talent is also crosswords, which is essentially a map of riddles. The Riddler also has father issues, which can easily be genderswapped.
Maybe Riddle is "The Riddler" here is to prove that his way is the best and smartest and whatever. Idk why he'd turn to crime tho. I think the most likely thing would be his dissatisfaction with how the GCPD is enforcing laws.
(If you couldn't tell Riddle is my favorite and the Riddler is my favorite DC villain. This AU is very fascinating, I hope you explore it more)
Oh my gosh, thank you for this ask! The Riddler is actually the Batman villain I probably know the least about (at least out of like all the mainstream ones), so this is actually very insightful.
Yeah, this is all very interesting. Perhaps Riddle doesn’t turn to crime at first; perhaps his riddles at first are supposed to be to help GCPD catch criminals, but with how many masked villains are starting to appear in Gotham, the authorities start to assume that is what Riddle is too. So after several false accusations and arrests (and several broken bones from Leona, thanks Leona), Riddle goes down a spiral of looking down on GCPD and how he’s obviously superior in intellect to everyone in the city. They just clearly don’t understand him, that’s what the problem is. And he will make them understand. That could be his descent into villainy and crime.
But idk, I’ll definitely keep thinking about it more!

I was thinking about Leoide, as one does, and was thinking about how they would never choose to have a kid. They would both hate to have a child, they don’t want the kid to have to inherit all their issues. They also just don’t really want to have to raise a kid. So if they did have a kid, it would be a complete accident somehow. Or…
Just imagine Leona’s home at the Sunset Savana to deal with some political stuff, and he hears about this thief tyhe authorities are having trouble with. All they know is that it’s a little hyena beastfolk with a strange affinity for magic. Leona ends up contacting Ruggie, knowing how Ruggie tends to care for the community in the country, and with Ruggie’s help is able to track down the little hyena. They’re in a situation similar to basically most hyenas in the country; looked down on, lower class, has to fight for any kind of scraps, and lost their parents to starvation. But unlike other hyenas, this one is an extremely talented mage. Pretty large magical reserves considering their circumstances, and is able to cast a few basic spells with no magical education to speak of. A phenomenon like this has never been seen among hyenas in the country.
Leona wants to help the kid, and thinks to bring him to Styx; to understand this magical phenomenon, but also because he’s aware of just how much Styx could provide for this small, starving hyena. It may not be the best place for a young child, but it’s the best solution Leona could think of.
The kid does amazing at Styx. They’re able to get education that would have been completely out of reach in the Sunset Savana, they’re well fed, and they have secure shelter. Mama Shroud obviously loves the little hyena kid and absolutely spoils them, Ortho loves to play with them, and Idia is absolutely fascinated by the kid’s magical talent.
Given Leona is the one who found the kid and Idia is now fully acting as the head of Styx, they are the main ones in charge of the kid. They make sure the kid’s eating properly, makes sure they’re comfortable in such an alien place, helps with their magical training, etc. Then the two slowly begin to realize… oh my god they practically just adopted this kid.

I don’t know if they’d really make it official through adoption paperwork or anything, but they are the kid’s legal guardians, they love the kid to absolute death, and the kid loves them back. They are a family, and they don’t need a paper to tell them that.
Idk, I just got this idea for a Leoide kid randomly, haha. Might make a design and maybe even a fic about them đź‘€

For Leona, I thought he fit Batman’s vibe. Depressed, super rich, has a soft spot for kids but won’t admit it. Also it’d be fun to explore how Leona not only helps Gotham as Batman, but also through his wealth, similar to Leona’s focus on urban development in canon. And it’s funny that the cat is dressing up as a bat.
Neji/Kifaji was just a given after Leona’s casting lol. His role translates quite well to being Leona’s butler and main guardian after Leona’s parents die.
I decided Jade as Falcone would be interesting, especially with the theory that the fandom has that the Leech family is actually just a part of the mafia. Jade taking the head of the mafia as an inheritance can also play a bit into displaying the corruption of Gotham. I might also make it so that Jade wasn’t the Leech that was in charge when Leona’s parents died so that Jade doesn’t end up being like twice Leona’s age in this AU.
Floyd fits the Joker’s unpredictability, and because Legacy of the Dark Knight has Joker being a previous work partner of Falcone, that also meant that Floyd and Jade’s casting would line up in some way which is nice.
Azul’s casting choice was made after Jade and Floyd’s were, so considering that the Penguin worked with Falcone, I thought I’d keep the Octotrio together in some way. Azul also fits the semi aquatic theme, just with an octopus instead of penguins, and I wouldn’t put it past Azul to run for mayor like the Penguin does.
Crowley I decided as Ra’s mainly because I couldn’t really think of many other mentor characters. But Crowley does also fit the mystery and (possible) underlying malice that Ra’s has. And on account of being fae, he fits the immortal aspect as well.
For a while, I was torn between Malleus or Idia as Talia. They both fit being the heir of some kind of family legacy, and they both have chemistry with Leona. In the end, I chose Malleus, mainly because I had Crowley as Ra’s, and there is the Crowley is Raverne theory soooo, yeah.
I struggled with who to put as Gordon for a bit. He’s supposed to be someone older, but I couldn’t think of anyone who would fit an older role like that plus have some kind of connection to Leona. Then I remembered the existence of Kate Kane, Batman’s cousin, and decided to kind of combine her role and Gordon’s to have Falena as Gordon. So now we get to have some fun with Falena and Leona fighting crime together and having an actually good familial relationship. Yay!
For Batgirl, I almost immediately thought of Ruggie for the role. Obviously Ruggie is Leona’s second in command, I thought of him for one of Batman’s sidekicks. And the main Batman show I grew up on was the 2004 The Batman series where Batgirl gets introduced before Robin, so in my head it’s always Batgirl that comes first (even though that show is literally the only one where she gets introduced before any of the Robin’s). Therefore, Ruggie is the “first” sidekick.
Vil got chosen as Catwoman on account of having great chemistry with Leona and being one of the most shipped characters with Leona. I also think it could be interesting for Vil to be an actor who has fallen from grace here, which is why he’s turned to thievery.
Riddle is The Riddler purely because of the name. No deep reasoning there lol.
Jamil got chosen when I still had someone else as Commissioner Gordon that connects a bit more to Jamil. But given Leona and Jamil’s talk in Book 6 and just their overall bond, I think it still fits. Here we have both Leona and Jamil recognizing injustice in the world and try to do something about it; Leona through vigilantism and Jamil through law. Except Jamil gets disillusioned with fighting corruption the “right” way and starts to believe he can never create change and it’s all up to random chance, similar to how canon Jamil decides to keep blaming everything on his upbringing under Kalim’s shadow even though that doesn’t excuse him from everything.
And finally Epel as Dick Grayson. I was gonna make a completely separate post explaining his casting, but guess I don’t gotta do that since this is being asked now lol. I chose Epel for this role because I was mainly thinking about the arc Dick typically goes through. While he’s usually thought of as the golden child of the Robin’s, he didn’t start that way. Batman originally took Dick under his wing because Dick was such a feisty child, and Bruce was extremely worried that’d he’d go down the path of revenge. Batman also saw a lot of himself in Dick, which also influenced the decision to make him Robin. I just think the arc of this feisty rebellious little child eventually learning from his mistakes and growing into a symbol even greater than Batman would be very fitting and interesting for Epel, considering his arc in TWST. So now our Batman-Batgirl-Robin trio is just the Spelldrive club! I also decided to not make Jack Dick Grayson because I thought there was more potential in casting him as Jason Todd, if Legacy of the Dark Knight ever covers him, because we’d be seeing Jack’s disillusionment with Leona in such a different light than in canon and the parallels that could be done there are just so interesting.
Also a little bonus, I am currently considering casting Idia as Mr. Freeze, with his motivation being to help Ortho. It’s also just funny to have the guy with fire for hair be the ice guy.
Ok, so I’ve seen a lot of time travel AU’s in this fandom, and that’s what inspired this idea. Imagine an AU where the seven overblot victims are all sent back in time to the very beginning of the school year.
They all figure out what’s happening pretty fast and vow to make sure that they’ll make this year better than the timeline they came from. No overblots this time, just a normal school year at NRC. Fix mistakes they’ve made previously but all of them still working towards their goals that they promised to make happen when they were confronting their pasts in Book 7.
Theoretically, this should be pretty simple. They’ve already had their character development and know not to do certain things, so they all should be able to avoid their overblots just fine, right? Well, if they did nothing that’s what would happen. But in fear of overblotting in this timeline as well, they all over correct, leading to someone else in their dorm overblotting instead.
I’m still thinking about how this would exactly go, but here’s some ideas for the alternate overblots:
In Heartslabyul, Riddle is being a lot more lenient on the rules. But while he had started to find a good balance between the rules and doing things differently in his original timeline, here Riddle is being just a tad too lenient in fear of pushing Ace to duel Riddle again and cause the uproar and emotional distress that caused Riddle to overblot. And this new Riddle scares Cater. It reminds him of how Heartslabyul use to be, the chaos that ensued because the previous housewarden got too lenient on the rules. Riddle hasn’t gotten that bad by any means, but the slip is enough to scare Cater, eventually leading him to break.
Meanwhile, Leona has to once again deal with his pack looking to him for guidance. He wants to do something, but he knows how that ended last time. So, he pulls the classic Leona strategy of sleep and do nothing. He starts ignoring his dormmates, even Ruggie. Maybe he’ll do something once the Spelldrive tournament has passed, but it’s simply too risky to do anything that could resemble the Spelldrive incident. This neglect starts to affect Ruggie, who feels like he’s being thrown away like a broken toy no one wants to play with anymore. Ruggie becomes determined to prove his usefulness to his king and starts plotting with the help of the other hyenas in the dorm. But he sets his sights to high, so high he cannot reach… not without breaking.
Azul is playing things extremely safe. He has an elaborate plan to ensure he does not trigger the events of his overblot; he makes sure his number of contracts stay at a certain number, never going over that number, and he only lets Octavinelle students run the Mostro Lounge, no outside help. However, this starts to get boring for Jade and Floyd. They started following him because he was fun, but now he wasn’t taking even a single risk and his influence was considerably weak. What are they to do without their favorite source of entertainment? (Just a note, I don’t know if I’m gonna have both Tweels overblot or just one of them. On one hand, it would be really cool to see two people overblot at once and it’d be a way to emphasize just how important Azul is to both of them. However, I also don’t want to do the twin stereotype of them doing literally everything together like they’re the same person just split in two or smth.)
(Low key I don’t have any ideas for Scarabia rn, so… feel free to share if you got any ideas!)
I also don’t have too many ideas yet for Pomefiore, but I imagine something that could be the foundation for an alternate overblot is Rook noticing something is different about Vil, but he can’t figure it out and Vil won’t open up to him about it, which begins to frustrate Rook. Perhaps his efforts to find out what’s happening with Vil will go too far and push him to overblot.
Idia is FREAKING OUT when the time comes around when he overblotted. Because, for some reason, there were still five overblot victims, so Styx is still going to come and collect them for studying, and he’ll still have to go to Styx himself. But it’s fine! He’ll just make sure Ortho stays close to him so that he isn’t influenced by Phantom Ortho, and everything will be fine! And even IF Ortho wanders down to the Underworld, it will still be fine, because Idia already knows that Phantom Ortho is down there so his existence won’t cause Idia to have a complete mental breakdown and overblot! It will all be FINE. Until, he DOES lose sight of Ortho and Ortho does get influenced by Phantom Ortho. Only this time, the influence causes a mechanical overload in Ortho, and his technomatic gears start to bond with the over abundance of blot in the Underworld, creating a horrifying mix of blot and machine, the combined soul of Phantom Ortho and Mechanical Ortho.
At first, it doesn’t seem like Malleus is behaving any different. He is getting involved with things at NRC more, both because he’s making more of an effort to engage in human activities and because the other overblottees who got time transported are remembering to include him more (except for Leona of course). On the outside, it seems like he’s making changes for the good. And he mostly is. However, still scared of how things will go when Lilia starts to lose his magical reserves, he decides to secretly “provide” magic. Similar to what he did for Vil in Book 6. At first, he only does this for Lilia. Then that starts to extend to Silver and Sebek. The problem is, Silver and Sebek are human. They can’t handle the extra magic they are receiving the way Lilia can. So when Lilia still ends up having to leave NRC due to his loss of magic, Silver’s build up of excess magic and emotional turmoil combine to create an overblot.
It’d also just be fun to see the original overblot victims in this AU occasionally work together or confide in each other about how to deal with this situation once they all realize they got stuck here together. (And also yell and argue with each other when overblots somehow still happen). Like, at a housewarden meeting Crowley just proposes an idea that the overblotees remember going horribly in the previous timeline, so they all very loudly voice their objections all at once, meanwhile Crowley and Kalim are standing there so confused as to why they’re all so vehemently against the idea.
