imagine wanting to participate in The Discourse.
Like, this is both obvious and revelatory: The people who create and participate in The Discourse are people who look at twitter/threads/whatever and say, "This Discourse seems healthy and productive. I shall participate."
So the only people we end up hearing from on twitter are people who want to post to twitter. which is to say they are definitionally weird.
Some last minute birthday pictures. I’m soo not used to being in front of a legitimate camera lol, I’ve gotten used to phone cameras.
I hope the nervous awkwardness isn’t apparent in my face😬

Why is sewing so very very difficult!? At every stage--even just folding, marking, and cutting fabric, there's always unexpected obstacles. It's like I'm actively fighting the dark forces of sewing at all times
Oh wait. That's Malice.
I present to you:
This miscreant, participating in similar sewing crimes.
She has so many toys, yet her favorite thing to murder is my fabric that I just got layed out smoothly. And any laundry I leave on the floor.

I am deeply uncomfortable with this man's corner
NO. Just ... no.

I don't understand how this is even a defence in the age of drone warfare.
Or even like... Cannon warfare.
Yeah, the Ottomans could have taken this in the fourteenth century.

dehumanization as horror is great and all but what about humanization as horror. Being forced into a role that was not made for you. Being forced to fulfill expectations that you can never achieve. Being made to exist in a society that so cruelly expects you to act in a way that is against your nature.

Please remember that almost everyone around you is traumatized. I didn’t understand this when I was younger. I wondered why people acted so strangely and irrationally. Maybe all children wonder this. The author Robert Anton Wilson said (paraphrasing), “We have never seen a completely sane adult human.” No one makes it out of this life alive. It’s not their fault. Mercy, kindness, forgiving — these are what makes one human. They are other names for love. People break in the strangest of ways.
“Under the present brutal and primitive conditions on this planet, every person you meet should be regarded as one of the walking wounded. we have never seen a man or woman not slightly deranged by either anxiety or grief. we have never seen a totally sane human being." — Robert Anton Wilson
I'm gonna talk about a song. The song is a metaphor.
A lot of people hate the song, for damn good reason. It's not a good song. It's an easy song to play, and sing. An uncomplicated song. To call it popular would be to give it too much credit, but it's certainly common.
Sometimes, people will decide 'this song fucking sucks, we need a new song, a better song', and so they bring out whatever instrument they use, and start playing that exact. Same. Song. And they say it's a different song. It sounds different, doesn't it? The person playing it has a whole different instrument from that other guy who's playing it. A different background. A different style. Surely, that's enough to make it a different song, right?
But it's not. This song, that's a metaphor and very common and hated by many, is the same damn song, no matter how you dress it up. No matter what voice, no matter what instrument you're using.
There's a lot more tedious metaphor, about how easy it becomes to justify the song, about how everyone else is playing it so why cant I, and how obviously if you don't like these same songs being played just a little to the left then, well, how dare you. But I'm tired and I suck at writing and this is already pretentious enough.
Find a different fucking song, y'all. There's plenty other songs. Metaphorical songs that can be played on every instrument, by everyone.
Just find a different goddamn song.

The social forces that prevent you from being able to admit to your own desires in the safety of your own mind are far more evil than any desire you could have.
Unacted desires are fundamentally neutral, and you can't decide what to do about the things you want unless you can admit to yourself what they are in the first place. Everyone has desires that would hurt other people if they acted on them, but most people would not actually go out and do anything they know would cause harm. Far more harm is done in this world by people who are trying to pretend they can't possibly want anything they think is bad than people running around going "ehehehe I love hurting people!"
Providing people with a way of exploring the dark parts of ourselves in a way that cannot hurt anyone is one of the purposes of both fiction and kink.
All of us have a hungry, horny, angry, scared animal inside ourselves. You do not need to excuse or justify what that animal wants, it simply is. You cannot escape it. Lying to yourself about the animal that you are will only give you less control over it, not more.

Yeah almost everyone is interpreting this as being exclusively about sex and, while that is obviously included in this post, I do mean something broader than that. These tags are a good example.
