this is set in the earlier seasons than the later ones or spinoff but yay!! Daryl!
🏹 daryl always wanted a younger sibling but also holds so much shame about wanting someone to suffer with. Especially after the turn, when the whole world is as uninhabitable as his home used to be. That doesn't mean the desire ever left him though.
🫙 he teaches his kiddo how to hunt, trap, track, and clean an animal, how to walk silently (or as close to silent as they can), and a few different edible plants he knows. Along with other important wilderness tricks.
🦝 he loves rough-housing with his kiddos. So much. Only if they initiate though, other times it'll just be a game of touch-and-go or tickle fights/gentle jabs in the ribs.
🏹 he can be a little rough but it comes from a place of concern. The worst he'd do is raise his voice, only to promptly apologize and/or bear hug you. maybe a light smack on the hand if you were about to put something dangerous in your mouth. ("The hell dya think yer doin, kid?! Don't put nothing in yer mouth unless I tell you it's alright. Alright?")
🫙 he thinks it's a little weird at first. Okay, a lot weird. He's worried about your mental faculties, wondering if you'd taken a blow, eaten something funky, caught a virus.. something horrible. Why else would someone act like that? After some explanation and observation, he figures it's harmless.
🦝 he's icky. He loves to give and receive silly wet kisses on the cheek/forehead and raspberries. He will absolutely threaten noogies, wet willies (the thing where you lick your finger then put it in someone's ear), and putting you in air jail if you get on his nerves. There's also a 'i licked it so it's mine' discussion every time one of you finds something rare (ie: a candy bar or snack cake)
🏹 as silly and icky as he can be, he's also incredibly gentle. If you tell him to stop, he'll stop in a heartbeat. If he catches even the slightest hesitance/withdrawal in you, he slows down. He apologizes a lot, either with words or by giving you something of value or doing a little favor. He doesn't want to hurt you. He doesn't want you to be scared of him. Ever.
