sam is a mad lad bc we all know he was having nightmares abt jess' death for weeks before it happened and then in the pilot when dean breaks in sam startles awake and you just know part of him had to be thinking in that moment "oh god this is it, it's happening again." and the scene is a parallel to how mary startled awake at the sound of sam crying and then encountered a shadowy figure in the house. and sam......what does he do when he encounter's shadowy figure in his house who very well could be the monster that killed his mom? he starts wrestling with it. MAD LAD SAMMY.
very dear to me that “I don’t understand that reference” happens after dean has already made many many references that cas didn’t get. like it’s been a year and a half since cas pulled him out of hell. he said absolutely nothing at thelma & louise, ninja turtles, bert & ernie, etc, but then dean calling him the delorian is his breaking point I guess where he had to quit playing along and just go. dean. please. what the fuck are you saying
a lot of fics fuck up angel grace stuff. canon fucks it up too because of dabb era nerfing angels even more than carver era did so let's break this down.
angel grace recharges. we know this from lucifer's arc in s13. it recharged because he still had some of his original grace left. cas' grace only faded in seasons 9 and 10 because it wasn't HIS grace. once he had his own grace back, it should've recharged just like anael's did after she shared her grace with lucifer. if we follow the original lore of angel grace, there is no "wasting grace" or need to recharge. there is no exception to that until the concept of stolen grace comes into play.
cas should've been fully powered again.
my hc is that chuck was suppressing cas' power in later seasons, especially in s15 when we see him struggle to heal someone. that's not grace fading, that's god himself being a hater.
My hc for grace is that it is less of an individual power source and more of a tether that connects angels to each other and to heaven (Angel radio is basically just them communicating via the same tether). So the fewer angels there are, the less power any individual angel has. Or even just fewer angels being in heaven (the recharge source? They can recharge from each other as long as someone is there?) can nerf them heavily, hence why all the angels were glorified humans during the Metatron era, when only Metatron and a trusted few angels were permitted there. Many options to think about.
Anyway. The gradual de-powering kinda lines up with angels becoming basically a very endangered species over the course of the show lol, so it makes sense to me that way. And God can absolutely exploit that to be a dick to Cas specifically. He got cut off of daddy's expense account.

Why is Sam always a lawyer in AUs? I mean I know why Sam is a lawyer but what if having a stable background made Sam not be as competitive about education?
College was his way out of the hunting life right? And of course stubborn, contrary Sam is going to go big on that meaning scholarship to a fancy school with the goal of fancy job at that end.
So it wouldn’t be completely off center to think that he wouldn’t be as focused on academic achievement as a way of betterment if he had a stable supportive family life.
Remember that Sam learned and accepted that he likes hunting.
He should have been on some sporting team and let his academic brain go to waste not only because he got so be physical but he quickly learned that he got more adulation and recognition for his sporting prowess than he did for academics
one of the many things that piss me off in citizen fang is the implication that dean chose benny over sam and that's not even remotely what happened. dean deciding to trust his friend isn't choosing benny over sam. he gave his friend the benefit of the doubt instead of automatically siding with someone who holds nothing but vitriol for said friend.
sam is not automatically owed dean's trust, especially during a time when dean feels betrayed by him.
