Seven's speech to Ace that became iconic for its sendoff to Classic Who was so beautifully written and so full of wonder, "worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream. people made of smoke and cities made of song," is the kind of Weird Shit that Classic Who was built on. It evoked curiosity, creativity, and originality. It made the show feel like it still had stories to tell, that characters still had lives to live. Come on Ace, we've got work to do.

Meanwhile, 15 regenerating into Billie Piper, aka the first black Doctor's exit overshadowed by a overhyped white companion from 20 fucking years ago that the showrunner refuses to get over, is right from the Disney Star Wars playbook of key-jangly nostalgia-bait shit. RTD is so obviously out of ideas that he'll shrink the universe down to revolve around a handful of characters because he thinks the audience is too stupid to move on. What sad fucking ending to this era.

#ok so there is one aspect of all this that i seem to be in the minority on #(unless most people feel this way too but The Jokes are just too good to pass up on - in which case carry on/i understand completely)#but i actually DONT buy that this is going to be a full-on wilderness-years-level Break?#not even in an optimistic way just like a #'yeah we sure Do live in nostalgia bait key jangly media world right now' way #so - call me cynical - i just dont really believe this ip is gonna sit dormant for all that long?#for better or for worse i think there will be new dr whomst in the not-far-off future #potentially even a future that's like. not all that much longer than some 'normal' hiatuses have been #(considering how stupid/long it's become acceptable for those to be in the last decade or so)#so my one caveat is that i don't truly think the end of 7's era should be viewed on a level with that last episode we had #but holy hell is op right about how perfectly both moments encapsulate the vibe/soul of the show that audiences were left with #couldn't be more different and couldn't be more telling either

the whole black guardian trilogy is so good. it's just like doing normal doctor who stories but occasionally it cuts to Turlough on his knees speaking into his magic crystal like O master please spare my soul, I will kill the Doctor I just need a little more time to fulfill my dreadful vow and then the Black Guardian manifests like never!! never!! the torture of a thousand knives and scorpions be upon you for your insolence! and Turlough starts screaming and writhing on the floor of the TARDIS in agonies and then the music goes beeble beeble boop and it cuts to the Doctor being like hmm time to reverse a polarity i think
