For the summer prompts, the Takeshi/Daisuke/Masa trio with "open window"?
âGodâŚcould one of you pop open a window, itâs hot in here!â Sekimoto sighed, looking over at the broken air conditioner.
Daisuke seemed to be resting his head on the desk, deeming it too humid to get up.
âAnd you canât spend one minute away from your game to do so?â Takeshi rolled his eyes, moving over to open said window. Not to mentionâŚIt didnât feel that hot to him.
âAnd no âthank youâ?âÂ
âThanks SaeharaâŚâ Daisuke mumbled from his spot. âI suppose you get a thanks.â Sekimoto shrugged from his spot. Sometimes, he couldnât believe how obsessed the other was with gacha.
Pride 2026 â âJune of fluffy Feverwhumpâ
For a month, letâs celebrate romantic love in all its complexity, between joy and sadness, empowerment and conflicts, life and death.
Even under the weight of manliness â being from another era, on top of that â and constantly under restrictions, unconventional love can, has and will express himself in Hiwatari Keiâs heart.
So, what story do you want to read?
Send any prompt from this âJune of fluffy Feverwhumpâ list + any other character and I will write a romantic short story between them and Commissioner Hiwatari
Any pairing is welcome. If you have a preference regarding whether itâs a blossoming or established relationship, feel free to say so.
According to the event creatorsâ wishes, I will avoid censoring myself and will orient the end results toward whump and hurt/comfort as much as possible. Fluff might happen. Consider yourself warned~
Prompts are welcome for the entire month of june 2026.
How about characters of your choice as beautiful sea slugs? :>
He was a simp...
...and she was a cutie.
Can I make it any more obvious~ đś
(please tell me you guys know this song hahahaha!)
li'l pair of blue dragons~ and a widdle water bunbun
when i looked up sea slug photos and learned that blue dragons are slugs, there was already an obvious choice among the characters cuz of the design of their costumes. bonus fluffy aquatic Wiz! I decided that all artworks except Krad and Dark will be seaslug familiars in this AU.đ
Also, I actually drew them separately and just combined them in one canvas. Maybe at least in this lifetime, they find happiness đ

kicking off this year's inktober with my favourite animal, a wolf!
in contrast to the last two years, for this inktober i have decided to both a) be flexible about medium, as long as it is some kind of ink (so this piece for example is an ink pen that i discovered bleeds a LOT when water is added! so i'll so an ink sketch and then basically treat it like watercolour, and then go back and add a few details in micron or india ink), and b) to just do whatever! may end up doing some fanart, may not, who knows! currently this style is really enjoyable for me to make so you'll be seeing quite a lot of them :) i just love how the ink bleeds into different colours (it's black originally!) and i love how it cauliflowers and that looks a bit like fur and i even love how unpredictable it is--almost like watercolour but more fun for me haha.
There you are, somewhere on a star

Ah yes, the ginger be-head house
"comparing apples and oranges" has always been funny to me as an expression because people's go to exampe of two things so radically different that they defy any useful comparison are apples. and oranges. like you would struggle to find a more comparable pair of objects than that. theyre literally sold right next to each other in most stores.
wikipedia has a whole ass section dedicated to international variants of the idiom so let me quickly run through them
see this is even worse than oranges. pears and apples are like the most comparable things ever. france takes another L
ok so this is what i mean. these are measures of temperature and texture and are in fact not very comparable. ПОНОдŃŃ ŃойŃŃа ĐżŃОдОНМаоП в ŃОП Мо Đ´ŃŃ Đľ.
colombia wins most vivid image invoked hands down. would not want that to happen to me.
and i think we can all agree romania wins this hands down. everyone give a big round of applause to romania
I know theyâre in different eras/time periods, but could you imagine if they werenât?
Based off this (x)

Trope of the day is... enemies team-up. Rivals realizing that they have the same goal or that they have to work together to achieve both their individual goals. An uneasy partnership, not build on trust, but on necessity - with betrayal lurking right around the corner.
Prompt: Kosuke talks with Risa or Satoshi or Hiwapapa?? Please~ đ
The man had been waiting at one of the island's sea caves from way before dusk, although the time of the rendezvous was yet after sunset. They did need the cover of darkness to keep away from prying eyes, after all.
He was here upon Emiko's instructions, in a mission to take from a certain comrade some potions, supposedly to help in her extended stay on land.
"Good evening," a mellow, amicable voice greeted from behind him.
"Ah, hel--oh jumping jellyfish!" The man was startled when he turned and saw a merman with flowing black hair and a sleek black-and-white tail. He was surrounded by two sets of spines that looked like fans of swords, and his tail had a transparent, almost iridescent shine to it. He had black markings that had a turquoise, otherworldly glow that reminded him of bioluminescent plankton. This must be him, the sorcerer Kei; prince consort and Emiko's cousin-in-law.
"Jumping jellyfish, hm? I'm pretty sure they don't do that," there was a laid-back amusement in the merman's response.
"Oh no, that's just an expression; their tentacles aren't usually strong enough--Ah! Except some species of trachymedusae, which have very strong--wait, no! What am I saying?"
The man quickly switched off his built-in ocean index as soon as he caught himself in trivia mode. "Sorry, you probably knew that already, being uhm... a local, and all that! Haha..." he said, awkwardly gesturing at the merman's tail and-- well, entirety.
"Ah, and that's where you're wrong, Mister Scientist~" the merman smiled, his silky voice still carrying that relaxed cadence from earlier. "You did lose me there a little, but the nugget of knowledge was welcome. Which jellyfish were you talking about again?"
Kosuke blinked at the follow-up question. Not a lot of people indulge his ocean fanboy side. "Oh... uh, right, sorry. Uhm, we call them the crossota species..?" Kosuke glanced at the merman who was not one bit enlightened by the additional jargon. "Uhm, they're these... red jellies with thin, wispy tentacles. And they swim very fast."
"Ohh, the red propellers. I see. They are swift, yes," the man nodded, looking genuinely interested in what the marine biologist just shared. "Well, I wouldn't be surprised if those could really jump out above the surface!"
"There haven't been documented cases... but a-anyway, that's enough boring jellyfish talk!"
"Not at all~ It was amusing," the merman smiled. "Anyway, you looked quite... shaken when you saw me. Is everything all right?"
"Oh that! Oh, I really didn't mean to--it's just that... your patterns..."
"Hm?"
"Well, they are--they're breathtaking! I've always been fascinated by lionfish!"
"Mm, is that so? Well, I'm flattered. And here I was for a moment fearing that I got the wrong human and that I would have to uh..."
"To what?" Kosuke's eyes popped out of their sockets, but the merman stayed unfazed.
"Don't mind me, that doesn't matter!" Kosuke didn't know if it was the creeping shadows of the falling dusk, but there was a moment of sinister look in the eyes of his new acquaintance despite his unwavering smile. "From what she's told me and Rio, I have no doubts; you're Princess Emi's human."
Emiko's human? Kosuke thought. Well that's one way to put it. Not that he's opposed.
"And speaking of the Princess, I have the potions she requested. As well as some written instructions. And gifts from Princess Rio."
"Oh, thank you! Thank you so much!" Kosuke smiled as he received the bundle in his arms.
"A pleasure to be of service to her highness!"
"Her highness..?" Kosuke was surprised that, as prince consort and future king, he would address Emiko with such reverence.
"Ah. Habits," the merman smiled. "I am marrying waaay above my station, after all."
"Oh... sorry if that was a delicate subject."
"Not at all!" The merman beamed at him; sincerely, Kosuke dared think. "So Princess Emiko didn't tell you, hm? I am the court sorcerer, interpreter of calamities and maladies... and sometimes prophecies. I just happened to be gifted with magic, but I am not noble by birth."
"So you rose to your current position by your talents? That's amazing!"
"Err, well. Talent can only do you so much~" The merman shrugged and raised himself to one of the cave's big rocks. His scales had a faint bluish-green glow in the moonlight. "Most say it's thanks to you I'm to be king."
"Oh..." Kosuke bit his lips and cast down his eyes.
"Ah, that did not sound right. Apologies," Kei cleared his throat. "I didn't say that to blame you. And besides, blame has no place where offense lies not."
"Hm?"
"I may be being presumptuous here, but you have nothing to take blame for. The former crown princess regrets nothing."
"Did she tell you that?"
"Not exactly~ but frankly, with the way she talks about you and her life here until my and Rio's ears fall off, that's not hard to guess."
"She talks about me??"
"Hmm, let's just say 'talk' does not quite cover it~" the merman chuckled. "Very well! I have to return."
"Ah, right. Thanks again!"
"My pleasure," the merman bowed, which Kosuke frantically returned. "I shall see you again soon. And quite often, I'm sure."
"Huh? What does that mean?"
The merman offered one last smile and no further explanation before diving out of sight. Kosuke saw one last glimpse of his magnificent lionfish tail shimmering in the moonlight before it disappeared in the waves.
And in the moment he was left alone, there was a sense of peace that he had at least one friend beneath the uncertain waters.
No background versions under the cut.
Prompt: Risa is bad at swimming. Satoshi is too good at it. How do you teach someone a skill you were born doing~?
"Remember what I told you," the mermaid prince said, stern as ever.
"Yeah, yeah--Feel the waves and--" the land-bound princess responded, tense and hurried as she inhaled and braced herself for the next wave crashing her way, "--and time the rhythm of my breathing to them!"
"Yes, but before that, there's one more important step."
"Uhh... blow--cough--bubbles?" Risa struggled to respond as another wave crashed over her.
"No," Satoshi held her steady and gently led her back toward shallower waters. It was late afternoon, and the tides were gradually rising. "Before anything else, you need to calm down. You're going to exhaust yourself with all that extra wading."
"Easier said," she responded, standing now where the waves won't reach her nose.
"Catch your breath," Risa's swimming instructor responded unfazed. "We'll try again when you're ready."
The princess only nodded and did as she was told. After a few deep breaths to regain her bearings, she let out one big huff.
"All right," she said with newfound determination. "Let's do this."
"When you're ready," the prince nodded, "Remember to keep the--" splash "--rhythm."
The princess dove into the water before giving him a signal. Nerves again, he figured. He did not swim along to keep his tail from disturbing the waters more than they already were, but his eyes followed with a laser-focus as she attempted to swim and breathe to the cadence of the waves.
Good. Don't panic. Move to the water's rhythm. Don't forget to turn and breathe. Breathe...
"Hey, breathe--"
"Bwaaaaaah!!" Risa took one big gulp of air as soon as she surfaced, only to end up in a fit of coughing and hacking as she accidentally drank some saltwater. "Hohmygosh--cough--thought I was gonna die--cough--ack! Gross!"
Satoshi had scooped her out of the water when he saw her panicking and missing her window to take in air.
"You're fine. The water was barely up to your shoulders, Princess," The comment, done merely as a statement of fact, easily earned a glare from its receiver.
"Hard to take that from someone who physiologically cannot drown," she said, wringing her hair and wading with much effort against the waves and toward the shores. "A little sympathy won't turn you into seafoam, you know~"
"What I'm saying is you won't drown in this depth and with me watching over you," the mermaid prince responded.
"Then lead with that! Ugh, honestly! In this household, we speak our minds clearly!" The princess bundled her dress around her knees and slumped onto the shore, thankful to feel the security of solid ground beneath her. The sand was coarser with occasional sharp stones this side of the island, making it the perfect place not to be for anyone wishing to have a good and relaxing time. "Also, if you hadn't noticed, the waves here are wilder."
"You were the one who suggested this spot," he said again without a moment's pause, earning him one silently raised eyebrow that very clearly said 'Are you for real?'
Realizing how the words must've come off to her, he sighed and explained, "What I meant is, we could've practiced somewhere with more peaceful waters. I can think of a number of places where we would not be seen."
"Oho, explaining what you really meant~" The princess hummed, resting her head on her hands, "That's a start. Good job."
"I can't have you glaring at me all day," the mermaid prince grunted, crossing his arms over his chest, "Or worse, storming off on me where I could not follow you."
"Yeah, no. Walking away from someone who couldn't run after you ain't fun. There's just no... drama. You know what I mean?"
"Strictly speaking, I cannot walk out on anyone," the prince responded, mischief subtly curling the corner of his lips.
The princess snorted in laughter, and he snickered in return. The exchange turned into a moment of chuckles and more snorty giggling.
"Oh boy... I suck at this so much," the girl sighed hugging her knees close. "Honestly. Am I hopeless?"
The sun was starting to retire beneath the horizon, its blazes like fire spreading across the sea. Watching the changes in the waters and the land above as the sun sets would never be less than breathtaking to the prince who grew up in the depths, especially as it added a warm, more vibrant glow to ones complexion...
"Hello?"
"Oh, huh?" Satoshi had not noticed his mind lingering on the spectacular scene painted before him until the princess prodded on the question he didn't hear.
"I said, if you're going to be honest, do I have the chance to learn?"
"Of course," he said, again without pause. "And I meant that."
"For real?" Risa asked, this time, in an almost somber tone. "But we've been trying this for a week now..."
Her eyes, even in a forlorn gaze that went past the mermaid prince and onto the fiery waters around him, were glowing ever more amber in the setting sun.
The prince of the sea glided through the waters to sit on the shore next to the sulking princess.
"What merit do I get from lying?" He said, rather more gently than usual that it sounded foreign even to himself.
"It would free you from the burden of teaching me, for one~" she said, chuckling though obviously upset.
"Hm. That's not entirely wrong," The prince said after a pause.
"Hey!"
"Teaching you is not itself the burden, Princess," the prince explained calmly, solemnly. He looked off onto the expanse that was his home; the place that cradled him in birth and carried him through life. The very place that to her was a constant battlefield that could take her life in a moment's lapse. "But if I were to be honest, the anxiety of being unable to keep you safe does nag at me..."
Risa stared at her mermaid friend who had never once expressed fear of anything, and--in her eyes--could indeed conquer everything he set his mind to.
"Did you understand what I meant?" He asked quietly, shifting his gaze to her. There was a tinge of pink on his cheeks, and the princess started to feel her own face grow warmer. It was all the sun. Just the sun, she convinced herself as she shivered in the cool breeze of the falling dusk.
She looked away and nodded her head. She heard Satoshi take a deep breath and sigh.
"But don't worry about it," he said. "Next time, allow me to decide the site of our lessons. I'll find calmer waters so you can practice without fear."
"Mm... thanks," Risa smiled, feeling the warmth on her face seeping in and taking root in her heart.

bonus beach photo from years back because this is all I could think of while writing that sunset. thankss, Fugiii!
Can you tell more about Kosuke in your AU please? What did merfolk think of him at first and nowadays? How is life with his mermaid wife Emiko and their son?? Has he tried scuba diving or does he stay on land~?
ohoho, I can't tell you how many times i've started answering this only to get distracted, dear asker~ it do be like that sometimes (â â§â â˝â âŚâ )
..not. I'm so sorry. i have no excuse, just poor focus and memory and forgetting that i can save drafts hehehehenyways~
Marine Biologist Kosuke, our beloved! A man of science, the Geek God of the Seaâ˘ď¸ (pls go back just to be sure your eyes didn't trick you--yep, thank you~). The Son-In-Law of the Ocean, lover of red-haired, rebellious mermaids (yes, Emiko is very much Ariel-coded here HAHA. Honestly I wanna make them like a 90s couple, but somewhat I tend to set the SatoRisa story in a different, older, more RomFan-esque era. Just imagine tho, GenZ Princess Risa meets Merprince-of-the-Kdramas/Manhwas/Booktok Satoshi??? chaos. rip, boy.
Sorry back to Kosuke-- he is in love with the ocean, facts, mysteries, and all! Can tell you how many hearts an octopus has, or which sea slug can photosynthesize, but he only deals with anything empirical. Things proven or otherwise hinted at by evidence. He loves diving! Was first thought by his dad, and that's how he just became so comfortable and at home in the ocean.
So imagine his (kind/bordering worried) skepticism when this young lady approaches him, tells him she doesn't know who Ariel is and what movies are 'cuz, quote, "she had strict parents aND SHE HAD "NEVER BEEN ALLOWED UP HERE." Up here, where? Kosuke wonders. The university? The market area? The resorts? Either way, that's concerning. Is she being abused by her parents?!
But then she clarifies that she meant out of the sea. Haha. hahaha. good one. On top of looking like that animated mermaid from that new Disney movie (which his colleagues jokingly sent him a VHS of), she is also claiming to be an actual mermaid! Haha! Hah--hey, what are you doing with my wat--IS THAaat...
After passing out from witnessing a strange lady ⨠grow scales at will :D ⨠(haha. this has not been a good day for Kosuke so far), he tries to calmly hear her story. And, despite her very existence being a drillship poking massive holes into everything his education stood for, he just, surprisingly, makes peace with it. Afterall, Kosuke IS in love with the ocean, facts, mysteries, and all.
--
After meeting the mermaid Ar--uh, Emiko in real life, Kosuke had made it his mission to protect marine life and habitat the best that he could. They had to also keep their rendezvous and later on, their relationship~ a secret, with only Emiko's cousin Rio and her betrothed, the court adviser/sorcerer, as their confidants in the matter.
It was chaotic at first, especially with Emiko in line to inherit the throne from Daiki. And, with their experience with other humans, they fear what the merfolk's reaction to Kosuke would be. Merfolk surfacing to live among humans is not unheard of, but they usually cut off all contact underwater afterwards, for the safety of the people. But this was the princess! How could she abandon her duties and her home?
But she did. And the succession was passed on to Rio's line.
Emiko and Kosuke had to live as humans. Daiki is not entirely opposed to his daughter's decisions cuz she was already of age (not a teen like real Ariel), but he was also not very supportive of it. Before Emiko went to the surface, Daiki had one conversation with Kosuke.
Despite living away from the depths, Kosuke did not stop doing things for his wife's home. Eventually, from his research, the area became protected from overfishing, whale-hunting, and it became turned into a protected marine sanctuary. His revolutionary work also earned him a spot as a royal instructor to the princess~
While all this was happening, crown princess and her prince consort Kei, were making merfolk understand how Kosuke played a huge role in protecting their home. This eventually led to a council vote to make Kosuke an exception to the no-humans rule and he got invited to an audience with the King and the royal council~ (which he needed to dress--uh, fish up for lol).
Tl;dr, Kosuke started being viewed with skepticism and even disdain by some, but being the caring and gentle soul he was, he eventually became the darling of the ocean. lol he stayed there a few weeks and they didn't want him to return to the surface (Kosuke is thrilled, but then he remembers all the work waiting for him... đ).
I guess Daisuke could have been born in the sea and grown up in the royal palace, but away from home, idk yet~ Maybe he'd be the first generation to have been allowed to treat both land and sea as his home. All I'm sure of is that him and Satoshi would grow up close. Would also be fun if he had already met and played with Risa from childhood since his dad was her tutor.
Thank you, @fugitivehugs, for letting me yap about Marine Boy Kosukee! Hope you had fun with this hehe~
The problem with nuclear power plants is that you would want the workers to observe the processes carefully to avoid disaster, however nuclear power plants generate energy by boiling water, so the plant technicians canât watch whatâs happening or the water wonât boil due to the Watchpot Phenomenon. Thankfully scientists have overcome this hurdle in recent decades by squinting so the water thinks their eyes are closed and that it isnât being watched
Terry Pratchett couldn't have written it better.
Yâknow this is the second time someone has compared this post to Terry Pratchett, Iâm honestly really honored

Loved the Annihilation book, just saw the 2018 movie, and thoughts on the ending. Heavily spoilers, partial ending explanation.
The first moment in the movie I stopped and said âWait, that makes no senseâ is the ending when Lena walks on the beach with the glass trees. Up until this moment I followed with a âeldritch cosmic horror being unrealityâ mindset, but this moment stopped me.
Because it made no sense to me that there could be any sort of mutation that results in clear, crystalline forms. This movie hammers in that biology is being disfigured, but not non organic forms; we see the old buildings, the boats are practically untouched, old weaponry is usable. So why now with these trees? Minerals donât have dna to mutate.
But THEN the movies goes on, and Lena is replicated with a green being. And we see the inside of the lighthouse, the underneath with that shimmer black moving WHATEVER, and the creature itself, which is an iridescent green. Then it all makes sense.
Sand is the largest source of silicon in the world, and silicon is the second most abundant element on earth. Sand is also a primary ingredient in glass. Silicon -> Sand -> Glass -> Glass trees.
This is the best photo I could get of the being underneath the lighthouse, if youâve seen the movie you know itâs more shimmery, almost liquid, looking identical to the material on the right, which is solid silicon.
Silicon is also used in making computer chips and wafers.
Silicon wafers have a holding, greenish iridescent shimmer as well, much like the being that tries to relocate Lena at the climax.
Hereâs the thing about Silicons atomic properties. Silicon has 4 valence electrons, and if you remember grade school chemistry, an unreactive, stable atom has 8. So silicon is semi stable, but would really like to bond with other atoms to achieve 8 valence electrons. This basic concept is what makes it a good semiconductor, or a material that easily allows electrons to move through it. Thereâs a lot more technical science that has to do with it Iâll cut out, but some elements are âinjectedâ into silicon to manipulate these properties, creating a system that allows electrons/electricity/energy to very very easily run through it. A very popular choice is phosphorous.
I couldnât get photos of the scene, but Oscar Isaacâs human character self immolates with a PHOSPHORUS grenade. When he destroys himself, itâs a contained, rapid fire that does not spread to his surrounding and dies out fairly quickly. But when the creature is then trapped in a phosphorous blast, it doesnât dissolve, but continuously burns. The burn doesnât spread to the regular stone of the lighthouse, but absolutely rips through the underground area and being growing on the side of the lighthouse that the movie has us believe is a living creature, apart of the clone, or obviously at least the same substance that one (aka me) might say is silicon.
Hereâs one last thing about silicone properties. The material most related to silicon on the periodic table is carbon.
All known organic life is made of carbon. Period. If itâs alive itâs carbon. Many traits responsible for why carbon makes life possible is shared with other Group 16 elements. Silicon is the closest Group 16 element to carbon. Therefore, it is hypothesized that any non-carbon based life would have to be made of silicon. Many theories and sci-fi stories play with the idea of an alien life being made of silicon is more environments that can accommodate that.
So back to my initial confusion. I was confused as to why the creature, or the shimmer, or whatever force that is responsible for the movie could make clear, crystalline, glass like trees. Itâs ability was clearly stated to genetically mutate living things. But Iâm arguing that somehow through sci-fi movie reasons, the creature is silicon based life, or become silicon based upon hitting the sand at the beach, then perhaps adapted into carbon based life.
After this scene, when Lena is being interrogated, she is asked âWas it carbon based?â Imma say that is a very, very relevant question, and maybe the entire point of this line of questions. So cool thing the movie did, it all still makes sense.
End credits: the reason we donât see silicon based life is it would theoretically require an insane amount of energy to sustain. Doesnât react with this theory but yo itâs a movie they gotta make it work somehow.
Prompt: "You do realize I hate you, right?" + Fukami and Taize!!
âYou do realize I hate you, right?â Fukami spoke, looking at Taize with this disdain. âDo you, now?â The other teen grinned at him cheekily. Thereâs a hint of color on the young artistâs cheeks that doesnât go unnoticed. âHey HikariâŚare you blushing?â âW-WHAT- OF COURSE NOT!â His face seemed to redden some more. Whether that was out of embarrassment or something else⌠âYou sure that you hate me~â âGET OUT!!!â A cushion nearly hits him on the face. âMissed me!â The redhead grinned, now taking cover under a table. Something about pushing his buttons seems fun. Oh how, he wanted to keep doing so.
