the recent tumblr comment update wouldnt have even been bad if it weren't basically enabled by default
like. actual insanity. do you know how crazily privacy violating this is? my following list is just a bunch of Phighting content I like and one friend and now all I see in my feed is PERSONAL CONVOSATIONS I should DEFINITELY not be seeing. ive witnessed 3 dramas and one weird misc incident from 6 months ago in comment threads in the span of 3 minutes and it is honestly appalling. Might even be on the level of ID verification but that is reallllly stretching it
Following that, here's a list of fixes to make this garbage actually good:
DONT ENABLE IT BY DEFAULT
In fact, don't make it enable-able at all
Instead, have a funny bar to the side or bottom of your comment (depends on size etc/etc...) which does the setting to ONE comment. This functions as reblog-equivalent
You will not see the "open full thread" or "see ?/? comments/replies" unless you directly go onto that blog.
//maybe suggestion seems too confusing/privacy risk // Unless its a end of a comment thread or following a reply, in which you can choose to show the entire reply thread for context purposes.
