i need some misophonia positivity right now…
so I’m gonna make a list
you are so strong, facing the world when you know there are triggers out there and people that don’t respect that
its okay to cancel plans if you’re having a bad day. you are taking care of yourself. if they are worth your time, they will understand
it’s okay to take a mental health day if you know you can’t go out and face the world.
you know what you feel is real but some people don’t believe you. that doesn’t make misophonia any less of a problem.
it’s okay to constantly have headphones, or earplugs on hand. if people give you weird looks, they’re probably just curious.
if you have to leave, leave. don’t stick around and make yourself feel worse if you don’t have to.
if someone is triggering you, and you are close enough to them, don’t feel bad for asking them to stop. people may not understand and they may not want to help but at least you tried.
even though it’s not visible, your pain is valid.
your feelings are valid.
you are valid.
had one of my worst misophonia days this morning. woke up, went downstairs, and was instantly triggered. its mothers day and my family was having breakfast together before church. it was so bad I started bawling in the middle of the kitchen. had to bail on all the plans today and they had to go out without me. I felt terrible and was scrolling through my blog and found one of my old posts. really needed this. thanks past me!
