Misophonia: dude listen for the noises
Me: no why would I do that?
Misophonia: to make sure the noises arenât there
Misophonia: you gotta
tmfw youre eating with your family and they start chewing obnoxiouslyÂ
this just in
whistling in the middle of a teacherâs lecture is not just rude
but also i hate youÂ
I recently found out that my friend has misophonia and I'm wondering if theres anything i can do to make things easier for her and help her out, do you have any advice?
Sorry for the delay, Iâve had some things going on!Â
My advice for you is to understand her triggers and be conscious about them so you can train yourself to not do them as often, or if you need to you can warn her/direct her so she wonât be subjected to it as needed. If youâre very close to her carry around little essentials she might need like an extra pair of earbuds, some ear plugs, chewing gum (for combating chewing triggers) and maybe a stress ball or tissues depending on how she reacts to the triggers. When youâre in public and she seems extremely stressed out because of a trigger you can help her navigate to a safe spot to calm down or help her get distracted by talking. Sometimes when I get triggered my friends will engage in conversation so that I think about the topic and my replies instead of the trigger. It all depends on her needs and how sheâd like to have backup in those situations, so try talking to her and see what kinds of things like these would be right for her! Sometimes if you crowd over someone with miso, even if youâre trying to help, it can make it worse, so just talk and discuss her needs and what you can do for her since you have your best intentions for her! Good luck. <3Â

Me, to my parents: can you guys not eat/drink/slurp so loudly ?
Parents: we hear you eat loudly but we deal with it
Me:
petition for misophonia to be added to the DSM and the dictionary (esp online ones Iâm tired of the red line under the name of my disorder tbfh)
Confiding in someone about your misophonia only for them to say that itâs not real
Ahaha so funny

misophonia but every time someone pulls out a pack of gum it gets fasterÂ
Channel Zero: Butcherâs Block coming in with the real misophonia representation!
Person: You don't have a mental disorder. You're just too sensitive!
Me, a person with a Sensory Oversensitivity Disorder: YA DONT SAY
Does anyone else have a really hard time using the word âtriggeredâ to describe your misophonia??? Like Iâm pretty okay with saying it online but in real life I feel sooo whiney. The word has kind of been ruined by people using âtriggeredâ to mean âto be made made mildly upsetâ
My fight or flight instinct ready to fucking throw hands when someone wonât stop coughing

me, before developing misophonia: swearing is really rude and just seems so violent it really makes me uncomfortable :^(
me, after developing misophonia: who the FUCK invented FUCKING gum and where the FUCK do I go to kill that piece of shit excuse for a human being
About 30% of my life is me wondering if my misophonia is just a placebo type thing in which I only have misophonia symptoms because I have convinced myself that I have misophonia, and donât actually have the disorder
