liking a ship but disliking the distinct set of stock fanon that they have been assigned is like one of those punishments dante came up with when he wrote the worldbuilding for hell in inferno

I genuinely am starting to hate the "I love when female characters are allowed to be feminine and girly and powerful at the same time" take, because that's literally all of them and that's literally all they ever seem to be.
"Women could only be powerful if they were portrayed as butches π" Girl where. From Wonder Woman to Elsa. Where is this Butches Epidemic in mainstream media. WHERE.
sometimes you see Takesβ’ that make you go "mmmhmmm okay yeah i see we both interpreted that differently based on what the show gave us, but i see how you arrived at your ideas even if they're different from mine," and then sometimes you see Takesβ’ that make you go "brother what show did you even fucking watch"
for the record im not technially 100% anti-AI, in the sense that its a broad category of tech being lumped under one umbrella term so it feels over-zealous to say i hate all of it all the time forever. but i also think trying to discuss what it actually IS good for is difficult right now when i cant take one step without something trying to convince me to use chatgpt to summarize my life and speed up my hobbies and turn my friends into chatbots and optimize my life into oblivion. i am certain there is nuance to the topic but can we stop cramming the square peg into the round hole before you start trying to sell me on the legitimate benefits of the square peg. please.
here's my super-quick, easy-to-digest summary that i use when i can't spend more than like 15 seconds on it but need someone to know the basic distinctions:
generative AI - bad evil AI. chatbots, LLMs, image generators, etc. this the one that steals shit.
analytical AI - helpful medical AI. this the one that helps detect cancer early.
game "AI" - fake AI. 100% human created and dictated. this the one that determines game mob behavior n stuff.
losing the battle with my own self-control so will briefly comment and say that categorizing certain types of ai as straightforwardly good and other types as "bad evil," even for the sake of summary, doesn't really hold water. just to give two counterexamples to the distinctions drawn above, large language models ("evil") are being used by human rights groups to parse huge datasets about police abuse while analytical ai ("helpful") is also the kind of ai that animates facial recognition software and the increasingly ubiquitous searchable license plate databases that police are using to stalk people. the goodness or badness of a given ai tool has less to do with its type and more to do with things like scale and scope, transparency, ownership, and contextual application.

ngl i think the thing that makes me the most upset about the odyssey movie is that the theme of the story doesnt make sense for the odyssey. because the odyssey is about letting go of hubris, its about surrendering yourself to the gods and realizing that you are nothing more when compared to them. thats why the whole thing that starts the odyssey is odysseus almost escaping polyphemus only to at the last minute practically shout his entire ip address and straight up dox himself. he wanted the glory but he didnt need it and that's how polyphemus gets his names and calls it out to posiedon for him to then torment odysseus. and when it comes to circe's island they spend a year there (im pretty sure, but its been a while since ive read the odyssey), they spend a year because odysseus assumes he has all the time in the world, only to then see his dead mother in the underworld and realize that thats not true. only furthering his desire to get to penelope and that makes him staying on calypso's island so tragic.
but the movie doesnt take these themes and thats fine on a surface level, but instead that make it a movie about the tragedy of war and honestly... THATS A GOOD THEME!!! but then why have the cyclops? circe kinda makes sense as in the movie she showed some kind of trauma, but then why have scylla? charibdys? (i spelled that wrong). the underworld makes sense but then why have him stuck on calypso's island? its only to show that this is a movie about the odyssey, but in my opinion the odyssey was the wrong movie to show this about.
instead they should've went with the iliad which is basically about the tragedy of war to a T. hell it ends with a funeral. its about how the war has gone on so long and has taken so many lives and how they're continuing it because if they don't then they've truly lost. i mean why do you think on of the biggest plot points in the epic is achilles giving hector's body back to priam? why do you think its patroclus dying, and like I said before later ending in hector's funeral? that's about the tragedy of war. not the odyssey.
it's a perfectly fine theme and its done in a mediocre way imo but it would've been better in the iliad. not the odyssey

hey can you do me a favour?? Can you go get that nice pristine sketchbook or journal you've been hoarding and put some kind of mark on the first page? Anything will do, like a smudge of graphite or a blob of ink, or perhaps a very scribbly dinosaur. Just put something there. Please, or the dinosaur will be sad.
I was SO SAD for this dinosaur that I grabbed the nearest notebook (a calendar) and drew a little sailing ship for him
oh thank goodness!
ITβS OKAY IF YOU MESS IT UP
SKETCHBOOKS ARE FOR MESSING UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THEY ARE!!!! It's right in the name! Like @sleepnoises said a while ago, they're for the quick putdowning of ideas! to catch the stuff that comes out of your brain! (I don't mean to say that pretty sketchbook pages are bad, but it's important for your health to do quick scribbly stuff too. if not in a book then perhaps on small scraps of paper)
The dinosaur is very glad to see so many doodles in the notes! Also lots of comments with very good suggestions for people who have a hard time starting, like starting on the second page, just signing & dating it, numbering the pages, or using the first page to put samples of all your usual pencils and pens and such.
Here's how I started my new sketchbook, which I got for 5 dollars at Dollarama. I would have drawn on that first blank page instead of just signing it, but it was partially glued to the endpaper and wouldn't lie flat.
(Also, since the sketches are about making velvet mites with little wired legs, I must mention that if/when I get around to doing that it'll be posted on @vincentbriggs where all my non-dinosaur arts go.)
ok here is the mite, finally finished! More pics on my other blog.
oh gosh did I forget to update you on the mite? I made another one and filmed it a few months ago.
... Vincent... Is... Is your notebook cover an Imagine Dragons pun? π
No, it's a monster (no wings! not a dragon!) and I was just trying to cover up the writing the book cover came with.

People, Claudia was a serial killer who kept body part souvenirs. She watched the Paris coven torturing humans on stage and wanted to join up.
Of course sheβs in hell.
In any universe where hell based on deeds on earth exists, Claudia would go to hell. Every character on this show would go to hell.
