One of the things I deeply appreciate about stories like Life in Smokey Blue is how much they speak to the meaning of ordinary life. Sure, we all have fun with watching our escapist fantasies, but at the end of the day it's still reality that we live in. And series like this are the ones that come hold our hand, and say, "hey, we know life can be hard and sometimes you're gonna have really bleak moments. But also there's so much love and sweetness and connection, even in the tiniest of little ways. Maybe you'll help a coworker and they smile every time they see you. Maybe you'll check on your mom and she'll talk about the roses. Maybe you'll find something you never really thought you'd have when you were younger, and if you hadn't hung around, you wouldn't have ever found it. But it fills your heart in a way you never thought possible. And isn't that awesome?"
