bridge: (before I get into this part, i’m clarifying that I personally am not religious, feel free to correct me if I get anything wrong) the religious aspect plays a big part in a lot of bigotry and misinformation, and this seems like some sort of argument against that. jesus was crucified because people didn’t believe what he said he was, and he was persecuted for that. then theres the aspect of sin. do people truly think us living our true lives is such a sin? whenever people speak about transness being sinful, I always think of this one quote i’ve seen a few times on tumblr: did god not create trans people for the same reason he created grapes but not wine, or grain but not bread, so we, too, could be involved in the divine act of creation? that quote attaches itself onto the lyric “thinking of your sins I die,” as we’ve already discussed the metaphorical death of the girl the people close to you thought they knew. as for the second half of the bridge, I feel like this could be about how no matter how much we try to explain it, cisgender people don’t understand how it feels to be trans. not even we fully understand how it is for everyone, since it’s something so unique to each and every person
