HI KOVEE!! dude me, my sister, and my dad binge watched the lotr extended trilogy and it was SO GOOD. FANDOM FIXATION REVIVED. i’m actually going insane we listened to a shire-themed playlist for literally 5 hours today.. (me and my sister are normal i promise) anywayss how are youu?!?

That's literally SO COOL!1!1!!! I actually got to watch the first and third movies (also the extended versions!!) in the cinema last month, they're such masterpieces I almost cried at the cinema LMAOAO (my savings got really hurt though)

YOU AND YOUR SISTER ARE SO REAL FOR THAT 😭😭😭 shire-themed music is so soothing for some reason, it's perfect for studying tbh!!

I'm doing great btw!!!1! My dad is also a big lotr fan so now I have arwen's sword sitting in my room bc he doesn't know where to put it (it's huge and surprisingly sharp)

OKAY I FEEL VALIDATED LMAO- we were making waffles and listening to it and it was really chill <3 although i have gotten to the point where the shire song is so nostalgic for me that i tear up which is lowkey a little embarrassing lmao. i’m like known to be an emotional person but the next time i watch lotr and see the hobbits i’m gonna start crying cus they’re just so near and dear to my heart

i’m doing pretty good :D today was my dad’s bday so it was pretty nice to just do whatever he wanted to do and hang out with my sister. i also had to submit a bunch of legal documents today to my state’s dmv and the images were next to like 10 pictures of faramir in my photos so it was really funny (hopefully no one recieves a bunch of faramir pictures instead of my passport)

losing an online friend might just be the worst feeling because all you can really do is hope that they're out there somewhere and doing okay

the lotr movies got eowyn wrong. yes the fighting was cool. "i am no man" scene was badass. but the point of eowyn is not "woman wants to fight, isn't allowed to, eventually gets to fight and that's her happy ending."

the point of eowyn is "woman is depressed, wants to be free/respected/seen/known/loved, is put in a (metaphorical) box with the other women, wants to fight bc it will bring her either Respect or Death."

she kills the dang Witch King. she fights and wins and it's awesome and satisfying. but fighting is NOT her happy ending. it's her sad ending. she ends up wounded and broken, like everyone else in this stupid WWI-trauma story. Like Frodo. Like Faramir.

I cannot emphasize enough that Faramir meets her AFTER she is UNABLE to fight (the only thing she thought gave her value and honor) and STILL admires and respects and loves her. Eowyn is more than a fighter. Eowyn is more than what she does. And for someone like me who's disabled from doing a lot of things that society expects of me, that means a lot.

#for me this is where the ‘i am no man’ line takes on another meaning #eowyn tried to fulfill the responsibilities of a man (fighting) out of need for respect and control over her life #and she of course succeeded #in fact she did what many men were not able to do #in the shoes of a man she would be admired and commended for her actions #however as op mentioned this wasn’t a true victory for her #in most stories the woman would prove that they’re just as good as the man and then gain the respect of the others (maybe)#and that would be the end of it #said woman would become respected BECAUSE she’s BECOME ‘a man’#but this isn’t how eowyn’s story goes #she finds love and purpose and family and will absolutely lead her people with heart #in saying ‘i am no man’ she is saying she’s more than her ability to fight #she’s more than just someone who’s able to accomplish what a man does #in fact she can do it better than a man— she’s all that and more #she’s saying she’s not only defined by her fighting skills #obviously all of that wasn’t what she was saying to the witch king in that moment #but that’s just what it symbolizes to little ol me #i love my feminist queen
