can i make a bitchy post. when ppl post things about how XYZ online service or software used to be free and really great and now it’s expensive and covered in ads, it’s like. well yeah. that was the business model. it wasn’t free out of the goodness of their hearts. they created a service at a loss to them to induce dependency and then increased advertising and cost until it was profitable. it’s the walmartification model of pricing super low and losing money to force competitors to close and then once they’re the only grocery store in the area they jack up prices. this was always the plan. open your eyes sheeple.
