the reality of being a writer
heres how to fix it
This Fox must realistically calculate how much travel time happens across the entire province of Skyrim! If it is not accurately calculated, this Fox will die!
People are getting to comfortable accusing authors and other creatives of using AI without any proof otherwise. AI detecting tools are not infallible, and more often than not will say something is AI. Entire careers and reputations are being ruined because of false accusations that have little to no merit other than someone's gut feelings. And once the accusation is out there, it doesn't matter if it's retracted. The damage is already done, the correction never travels as far as the original claim.
well, this fox has been mighty quiet lately, ain't she?
this vixen's been workin' on somethin' though. got a vision for the desk setup and she's bringin' it to life real slow and careful-like. warm wood, soft light, all the little things that matter sittin' right where this fox can see 'em.
ain't quite ready to show it off yet but this vixen's real excited about where it's headed.
more pictures comin' soon. 🌿🕯️

Workshop Update: KRCE 2.0 Open Beta Announcement
Salutations Workshop Spectators! We are incredibly pleased to finally announce the beginning of our Open Beta for Kaidan Revoiced: Community Expansion 2.0! Our original 1.X version of KRCE will remain up for those who prefer it, while Workshop original content will be implemented in KRCE 2.0. Open to members of our Discord server, we will be shadow dropping a link to the beta version of KR:CE 2.0 sometime in the next two weeks. We are seeking the help of the community to track down any mod incompatibilities or bugs, so we can get them ironed out before our release on Nexus! You can look over the official KR:CE 2.0 Open Beta Changelog to view the full list of content additions and changes. For best results during beta testing, please don't use collections or modpacks that already include an old version of our mod (eg. Gate to Sovngarde) due to the existence of custom patches that will conflict with our latest update. The curators of those collections will need to fix their patches after our official release.
We are incredibly proud of the work we've put into this release, and we hope that our vision for what new Kaidan content looks like is something that you all enjoy as well. Thank you again so much for your patience and support! Keep an eye out for the link drop!
So this Vixen guesses that trying for original ideas isn't something that KRCE is capable of. Most if not all the added content is an exact copypasta from the Immersive Features team, only with a slight twist.
Fox is Writing Things
This Vixen has been quietly working on a Skyrim fanfiction for some time now, and chapter two is finally up on AO3.
Roots Beneath the Ash follows two brothers — a Bosmer and his half-Breton sibling — who survived a Thalmor purge in Valenwood and have been running ever since. They are joined by a former pirate with questionable risk assessment, and together the three of them make the arguably poor decision to chase a wanted swordsman toward Helgen.
This Fox will not pretend the fic is without its rough edges. It is a work in progress, and she is learning as she goes. What she can say is that it is the story she has wanted to tell for a while, and she is genuinely proud of how it is shaping up.
If you enjoy found family, civil war era Skyrim, emotionally constipated characters who are trying their best, and the occasional terrible joke around a campfire — this might be for you.

“So basically my couch has electricity and I use it to charge my battery powered doorbell”
“Okay that makes sense”
Now explain it to a Japanese samurai from the year 1218
"do you know how waterwheels grind up grain in a water mill using the force of running water? We found a way to create a huge source of force that runs all the time and can transfer its force over long distance. I can tell you in more detail, but that's the basics. Now that is a chime that has a mechanism that one can press instead of having to open the door to let you know that you are waiting to be let in. It requires the transferred force to make the mechanism work and that wire is how we transfer the force to the chime."
i love these sort of posts because they feel like a vision of a kinder and more thoughtful world that I wish more than anything was the mainstream instead of the exception
Dara O'Brien has a bit in one of his standup shows about being transported in time and explaining modern technology
And what I love about it is the bit isn't "haha people from the past don't understand modern technology" it's "haha we don't really understand technology or how to explain it"
And Dara isn't uneducated about this stuff He has a degree in science
But a lot of us wouldn't be able to explain
Has anyone else noticed that the last decade feels like a cold-war style civil war between Democrats and Republicans?
Their cultists blame each other for everything. Name-calling, insults, and violence traded daily. Their leaders keep pushing “them versus us,” but “us” is never the people. It is always other workers. Other neighbors. Sometimes just each other. Wedge politics, working exactly as intended.
Both cults wrap themselves in so-called “Christian” values. Screaming righteousness in the name of Jesus while practicing none of his teachings. Not one. This Fox calls them cults because that is what they have become. Blind loyalty. Moral exemptions. Rage instead of thought.
The Wheel is turning. History is repeating itself.
This Vixen once heard the YouTuber Technoblade, may he rest in peace. Cancer is a bitch. He said, “Anarchy is Eden.” Not because chaos is good, but because when systems rot badly enough, collapse starts to look like freedom. That should terrify everyone.
If you want a cultural snapshot of now, listen to Land of Confusion. It has not stopped being relevant.
This Fox is not calling for violence. This Fox is calling for real reform. Stop voting red or blue out of fear. Find other paths. Build them.
Gen Z and Gen Alpha are coming either way. Many of them already see the glitch in the system. Maybe we help instead of getting in the way.

A Fox Looks Toward 2026
New Year’s is not too far off, and 2026 is shaping up to be a big and busy year. This Fox has never been particularly good at planning out her years, and when she does try, she has a bad habit of not sticking to those plans.
2025 was… a lot.
This Vixen lost two parental figures, moved back home to Tennessee to become a full-time caregiver for her elderly father, learned that her sister has stage three cancer, and weathered a thousand smaller things that piled up until they were anything but small.
Unsurprisingly, this Fox did not manage to complete even a quarter of what she had hoped to do in 2025. So for 2026, the goal is more modest and, hopefully, more realistic: hitting at least 35% of what she sets out to accomplish. Anything beyond that will be a victory.
2026 will be a big year regardless. Bear Cub will be graduating high school. Fox-Wolf Cub One will officially enter the teenage years, and Fox-Wolf Cub Two will become a tween. Life is not slowing down, even if this Fox occasionally wishes it would.
Fox’s Personal Goals for 2026
Write the Greek mythology–inspired book she has been sitting on the outline for for the past two years.
Complete at least five book reviews in the first quarter.
Write at least three personal essays or articles for Vocal in the first quarter.
Post more regularly across platforms on a variety of topics.
Open up the Creation Kit and continue work on the Anna’s NPC Expansion that this Vixen started in mid-2025. Ideally, she would love to see it live on Nexus by June.
These are the results this Vixen hopes to have underway by the end of the first quarter.
For now, the last few days of December will be spent visiting sisters in South Carolina and taking her offspring to the beach. That feels like a pretty good way to step into the New Year.

Book Quest Pt 49
The party looked to J'zargo, curious. Quill-Finder was the first to respond. "What is it that you need?"
"J'zargo has seen that Tolfdir likes you." the khajiit nodded, "You must be very skilled in magic, yes?"
Quill-Finder shrugged
"No matter." J'zargo began rummaging through his bag. "J'zargo is working hard, but cannot do it alone. can you help with this?"
"Depends." Lydia interjected, her arms crossed "What is it that you're asking for?"
the Khajiit nodded. "J'zargo has worked hard on learning new spells, trying new things. this makes J'zargo stand out as a mage. but J'zargo works so hard, there is no time to test these new spells..."
he produced a number of scrolls, holding them out to Quill-Finder. "If you help with testing, this will make learning easier."
J'zargo further explained that the scrolls were a new flame cloak spell that he designed with the intent of making them incredibly potent against the undead.
With a gentle nod, Quill-Finder accepted the scrolls. as she studied them, she noticed something. the weave of magic seemed slightly off, but she assumed it was simply a side-effect of tampering with the spell. she offers a confirming nod, taking hold of the scrolls.
"Now that we've agreed to help you," Lydia stepped in. "Maybe you could help us."
"Of course!" J'zargo nodded. "It is only fair."
Illia responded. "We're looking for someone called the "Augur of Dunlain?"
J'zargo blinked. "The what of what? No, J'zargo doesn't know." there was a pause while he thought. "If it is important, maybe Tolfdir knows... he seems to know a lot."
Taking J'zargo's advice, Quill-Finder decided to ask Tolfdir abut the Augur of Dunlain.
"Well now." he responded, "That's a name I haven't heard of in some time. My goodness, it's been years since I've spoken to him."
Tolfdir thought for a moment. "I suppose he's sill down in the Midden. Though I haven't checked." He smiled. "Are you going to see him? do tell him 'hello' for me, would you?"
Quill-Finder nodded. "where's the Midden?"
"Oh, underneath the College." Tolfdir stated. "It's not the nicest place, so if you're going down there, do be careful."
"Great, thank you!" Quill-Finder smiled, turning to rejoin her companions.
"Of course, it was my pleasure." Tolfdir smiled, returning to his studies once more.
as Quill-Finder rejoined with her friends, she smiled. "We have a direction."
"Under the college?" Illia asked
"Mmhm!" Quill-Finder nodded, as she fiddled with the locks of the doors leading deeper below. "Apparently, he was a student that got greedy with power, and he had an accident. now he's fused with the magic of the college."
"Quill, nothing against mages, why is it that they're always getting themselves into trouble?"
Quill-Finder shrugged. "Pursuit of knowledge often means taking risks, I guess."
Illia shrugged in agreement, thinking back to the hag ravens.
Lydia simply grumbled. "At least a sword won't vaporize you by mistake."
there was a silence. before finally an audible 'click' "Ah-ha!" Quill-Finder pushed the doors open, smiling. "And we're in!"
The Midden was dark. it was wet. some might even say slimy. and though it didn't immediately speak of the dangers down the, Quill-Finder did not have to walk far to find out. The Midden was laden with skeletal remains of years past. some chained to walls, while others were laid out on the floor. the surroundings betraying the gruesome reality of the college's underbelly.
Long since dried blood coated cages. furniture. walls. For all of the pristine image of students learning from books, this was the horrifying reality of magic. and more importantly, how it was learned.
she hoped that this was a long-forgotten part of the College's history, but the disgust remained.
"Quill...?" Lydia asked. she could see the repulsion on Quill-Finder's face.
the lizard's mind replayed the the scenes of Fellglow keep over and over. students learning magic, no repercussions or barriers. Necromancy, destruction, summoning. all tested on live subjects. people. Sure, the subjects at the keep were vampires, but it still felt inhumane in every sense.
The sheer thought of the College once engaging in similar behavior made her stomach churn.
"Let's make this quick..." Quill-Finder responded.
As they pushed deeper in the Midden, it grew colder with every passing moment. a voice echoed, a man's. "There is no help for you here."
The group stopped there was a look of concern on everyone's faces until Quill-Finder spoke. "I guess we're on the right track...?"
Lydia simply gave a nervous chuckle before the party pushed forward
As they pushed deeper, Illia stopped. "hey," she whispered. "Do you hear that?"
the other two stopped and listened. at first, they didn't hear anything. but soon, there it was. the creaking of bone. the unmistakable sound of an animated skeleton.
Quill-Finder pulled out one of J'Zargo's scrolls, exchanging a look with her two companions.
Illia shrugged, while Lydia gestured forward.
with a smile, Quill-Finder stepped a couple inches away from the party and activated the scroll. it crumbled away in her hands, and she could feel herself imbued with the scroll's energy. Within seconds, she was surrounded with magical flame, coating every aspect of her form. and with a renewed determination, she charged in.
The Skeleton locked its vacuous sight on the argonian, its jaw chattering as it readied its weapon and moved to engage.
And exploded.
the detonation threw the argonian against the wall as she was rained upon with the shrapnel of the skeleton's remains. all Quill-Finder could do was stare at where the Skeleton once stood. the charcoal dusting as the only clue that it was there.
Lydia and Illia rushed in, weapons drawn, until their sight landed on a stunned, but still breathing, Quill-Finder.
"What the hell happened?" Lydia asked, surveying the room.
Quill-Finder could barely tear her eyes away from the floor blackened from the fire. "... It exploded."
