consuming media is not the enemy!
I see a pernicious narrative floating around these days: consuming media leads to brainrot, there is only value in a pursuit if it is creative. That’s not true!
Where else do you find inspiration, if not from the wonderful expanse of human experience? Consume whatever you like! fanfics, tv shows, curated art in museums, pulp fiction, reality tv, youtube video essays. Consume whatever grabs your interest, unflinchingly.
It's when those inspirations are masticated and digested into your own unique perspective that they become something new. That's where truly original art comes from!
